The Sow Joan Index

Welcome to the Sow Joan Index thread. Together, the rllmuk turnip cartel will make you rich beyond the dreams of avarice. All members must agree to regularly check turnip prices, and to open their gates to fellow members so they can sell at a favourable price. That bastard Nook won't know what hit him.

or, if you all post in the same thread the word "official" could be added to the title...

While this is OT for this thread: we are mostly talking in one AC thread. However, some things: fruit exchange, agreeing trades, turnip prices etc. , are in my view best kept out of the main thrust of our AC chat, so each of the threads doesn't get swamped and people can find what they are looking for easily. We'll want these threads around for weeks. Perhaps you're being jocular, but if you're not, as you're not playing AC, whatever we choose to do shouldn't bother you one bit, right?

Do we have an official word on how often prices are updated? I've heard conflicting reports...

Two prices per day as I understood from my investigations yesterday.

One price before 12, and one price after.

So dependig on exact opening times, you're looking at:

Price 1

07:00 - 11:59

Price 2

12:00 - 22:59

If Nook is like the GC version, then different versions of his shop open at different times. I don't know if these will affect the turnip prices.

I think I'm going to record a time series of data so I can get a handle on how the prices move. Maybe I'll start offering futures and options on turnips to exchange members too! Once I have enough money...

I was wondering this - there must be some kind of algorithm we can break. Maybe we need to use Turnip@Home on our PCs?

I'm actually scared for when my game comes, it seems so much more complex, or is it just Graham making it that way? :P

It's what you make it! Where roskelld see intimate love stories and little tragic vignettes of village life, I see opportunities to corner the market in turnip futures, using complicated maths and a vast co-operating network of Nook watchers. I haven't spoken much to my villagers lately as I'm too busy gathering fruit. You can't move in my village for trees and all of the villagers say I've been working too hard and should stop for a chat. But everybody else in the village (and in other villages) seems to have a nicer house than mine, so I'm going to keep toiling for now. It's my own fault. I keep spending all my money on comedy moustaches.

Right. Instead of paying off my second mortgage, I have invested in:

1,300 white turnips at 101 bells apiece

I'm going to need the help of each and every one of you if I'm not going to take a hefty bath on this.

Does Joan's selling price vary from town to town too?

The market opens in Lucytown at 80B. Our market analysts expect it to trend downwards early this week, hitting resistance lines at 60B and 50B. A planned Mid-week announcement from the Siberian Rutabaga Board of Trade is expected to trigger a wave of trading activity in white turnips, and so Tom Nook appears unwilling to take on a large long position in advance of that news.
