I took mine back to game and didnt have to prove it was faulty.

they can of course take your word, which is really nice.

what I meant was if he is asked to set it up in the shop and play it until the fault occurs (as I was) he can wip out the camera and show them (as I did) and save a load of time a hassle.

DangerM did you get another receipt from Game, or are you on your old one? (IE new 12 warranty or whats left of your old one?)

There was a big hint on Watchdog tonight about a company thats been in the news recently who have seen one of their main products suffer numerous failures. Its due to be on next week. Is that related to this?

I hope so, MS deserve a real grilling over this.

Although we know we'll just be treated to some chinless wonder claiming the failure rate for 360's is well within the 5 percent failure rate expected for a piece of hardware like this, and that gamers are just a noisy bunch.

I really hope they're not allowed to get off that lightly, and Watchdog actually have some facts and figures to cut them down with.

the burden is on you to prove its faulty, just take some pictures with your camera or a movie if you can and bring it with you. I did this with my last one as the gpu only cacked up intermittantly. you only need to prove its faulty, they dont need to see it being faulty if you get me. be sure and get a new 12 months warenty too (can take a bit of arguing though)

Well there'll be no effort in proving it's faulty now, I've just got in from work, booted up the 360 and am now the proud owner of a console with the fabled 3 red lights! I'm looking at it right now, the red lights flashing constantly at me saying, 'I. Am. Fucked. I. Am. Fucked. I. Am. Fucked.' Because I know that Gamestation will exchange it I actually feel strangely calm about it, it's kinda nice to be part of the 'Red Flashing Gang'.

Edit: Shit!!! I've just realised that I'll lose my game saves. I've put in 302 hours in playing Oblivion and I've only got a couple more quests to do. Oh God, all the work I've put into Tony Hawk.....gone. MY DEAD RISING STATS!! (sob)

I hope they bring up the fiasco with the fall update.

Why, what are you doing with the hard drive?

Have you seen this?:

http://www.gamestyle.net/news/2869

Microsoft has started building its 360s with a new DVD drive manufactured by BenQ LiteOn Philips.

The new drive reportedly runs 'super-quiet' in comparison to the previous two drives used by Microsoft and even speeds up and smooths out load times. This of course doesn't help the 10 million plus current Xbox 360 owners suffering from the noise pollutants that are the older drives but it does mean that as Microsoft ramps up production with this new drive, your next 360 will hopefully let you game in peace.

Microsoft is on record as saying that the failure rate is above 5%.

See: MS's original denial close after launch that the failure rate was below 5% and its subsequent press release and warranty extension for customers in the US [(a few months ago)], where Microsoft admitted the failure rate was greater than its expected rate.

Hooray! I got the three red lights! It's odd, I feel like I'm part of something bigger now, as though I'm being initiated or something. Thank you Bill! May I have another Bill!

Yeah, it's under warranty so I'll call them at work tomorrow. Do I need anything with me when I call? (S/N, receipt etc.)

A step in the right direction, but they really need to be fixing whatever it is that's killing machines, which I doubt very much is the DVD drive...

Does anyone know when these are flitering into the UK shops? or indeed if they are already here. Looking at buying a 360 but would be interested in one that doesn't sound like a spitfire taking off when you put a disk in.

Need some advice. My launch day (from Gamestation) 360 has just started to exhibit odd issues. The screen turns to garbles after only a few minutes use, plus it locks up. No red lights as yet, but I don't need them to tell it's f**ked.

So having had it since launch day with regards to warranty, am I screwed? :o

Sorry to say this but that suddenly started happening to mine a week ago, then a few day later the three red lights appeared and would freeze on boot up.
