Ah, comments won't be looked at since Monsieur Morrison is spending time in the rBB. Still, he put SugarHill Gang on it. And not Rapper's Delight either! :o Lots of decent old school hippedy-hoppedy, too. I give it: thumbs up. I'll give it more points when he's 'back in the rllmuk world'.

Had a quick few listens but didn't really hear it properly (if you know what I mean). I've got many of the tracks on here are it's nicely put together. Not bad, I'll probably be back with more feedback when I've had a proper listen.

John Legend - (Prelude)

Kev Brown - Always (9th Wonder Remix)

Talib Kweli - Beautiful Struggle

Jurassic 5 - Hey

A Tribe Called Quest - Electric Relaxation

Sage Francis - I Love You

DJ Spinna - DJ Song

Little Brother - Doin' Me

MF Doom & Madlib - Jack Off

DJ Krush - Meiso (DJ Shadow Remix)

Jurassic 5 - Quality Control (Interlude)

Common - Cold Blooded

Nas - The World is Yours

Kev Brown - Outside Looking In

Masta Ace - Beautiful

Slum Village & Kanye West - Selfish

Common - Time Travelling (Reprise)

MF Doom & Madlib - Peeyano Keys

Main Source - Looking at the Frontdoor

Roots - Seed 2.0

Jay-Z - Encore

Wo ist meine CD?

It's in the proverbial bag I should think. Sorry, haven't really knuckled down to it after my exams finished though!

Haven't got mine yet BUT did get bpempire's Mix CD as a replacement for the postman standing on the last one. It's wickedbad, maybe not the best for hangover listening in places, but I have had some lovely dreams to it so far  TRKLSTPLZ

Sorry in advance.

01: Busdriver – Avantcore

First track, straight to the point.. just the way I like it! Is that MC Abdominal? It sounds like him anyways.. good track!

02: Radio 4 - State of Alert

Hmm, not usually my kind of thing. I can listen to it but meh, it doesn’t grab my attention sorry!

03: Average White Boys - My DJ's Name is DJ Shame

Now this is more like it! It reminds me of the Beat Junkies a bit, loving it! Dirty cuts on this one.

04: Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song

I don’t know why you put this song where you did on the CD.. fair enough like but it doesn’t do anything for the flow. I’m also not a Zeppelin fan so nono!

05: Beck - Chain Reaction

Now I like a bit of beck, not my favourite track of his but still quite funky!

06:Papa M - Travels in Constants

Ok so this one freaked me out a bit. The first half reminds me of a slowed down Wipeout tune, then it merges into some spiny guitaring and shit. Not a bad track really.. quite enjoyable!

07: Kasabian - Reason is Treason

Not a fan of this one sorry!

08: Iggy and the Stooges - Search and Destroy

Again. Not my thing!

09: Ian Brown - Happy Ever After

I quite liked this one, it sounded a bit more electronic than the last lot. Nice drum beat going etc.. then it breaks into the kinda bongo-esk kinda back beat.. It reminds me of Shpongle (psy trance group) but a bit more guitar based.

10: Super Furry Animals - The Sound of Life Today

Was that a song? :|

11: TV on the Radio - Say You Do

Not bad, didn’t grip me too much.

12: Sufjan Stevens - Come on! Feel the Illinoise

This one reminds me of Badly Drawn Boy a bit, and I love him. So this one went down well.

13: The Kleptones - Jazz

This one just kinda came out of nowhere! Still not my thing though, metal guitars and shit rapping save meh!

14: Queens of the Stone Age - I Think I Lost My Headache

nonononono

15: The Divine Comedy - Here Comes the Flood

mmmmmm

Well I’m sorry to say but this month’s CD really didn’t appeal to me. I’ve tried listening to a fair few artists on this CD before and I just can’t get into them!

I don’t like to be harsh when reviewing CDs and I try to keep an open mind but most of this just doesn’t appeal to me.

Thanks for the CD though man I appreciate the effort you put into it, just a shame it doesn’t appeal to me.

Yeah I had a listen whilst playing on the computer last night, and really enjoyed it. Could I have the tracklist please and I'll post up a few opinions.

Glad you enjoyed yours Magic Lord, I didn't realise you were part of the 'muk hip-hop brigade, so thought you would like some. Whoops!

I'm not typically but it's all good, I like everything really unless it is shit :o

I like the later half of your CD though man (from Selfish). Not heard that Jay-Z mix up before (if it is, that is... not heard it anyway), I generally don't like his style but the remixes are always strong, no? Weird that. Thanks though man, it's a good CD.

Yeah, he's good and all, but his stuff falls a bit too much into the commercial stuff for my tastes. I thought you might like it the other may round as the first half is more for the headz and a bit more chilled and loose. I was mainly looking for that live instrument sound, which is why I started with John Legend. His album is a shade wack, but I saw him live with some mates and he tore up the joint. Strangly the prelude is the only thing on his debut that captures that talent.

Anyway, glad you liked it.

Thoughts and comments

Thanks for ze comments! At least you liked some of the stuff! I'm pretty sure the backing tune to the Busdriver track (and the rapper is Busdriver himself) is the one from the second level of Parappa the rapper (Instructor Mooselini). Well ace.

Hey Barrow48, here's some feedback:

1. Belle And Sebastian - Electronic Renaissance

Not a big fan of these usually but this song has really grown on me, the quality sounded a bit off towards the start though, maybe it's supposed to sound like that...

2. Bloc Party - Plans (Replanned By Mogwai)

I thought this started off quite well but I kind of lost interest towards the end.

3. Sigur Ros - Glosoli

This is a superb track. I've been trying to get into them for some time without much luck but this has really peaked my interest. A beautiful track.

4. Blur - Caramel

I can stomach a bit of Parklife but I found this one a bit dull.

5. My Bloody Valentine - To Here Knows When

Not my cup of tea, just sounds like a wall of noise.

6. Ride - Seagull

Didn't think I would like this but it's saved by the chorus and I've actually grown to like it a bit. Goes on a bit too long though.

7. The Walkmen - The Rat

I thought this was the Strokes at first but still not my thing. Sorry :)

8. The Velvet Underground - The Black Angel's Death Song

I enjoyed this there's a few of there tracks I like and this was quite a good one.

9. R.E.M. - Low

Don't listen to REM much apart from the well known ones, this one was certainly one I enjoyed though and grows on me every time I listen to it. Lovely strings in it too.

10. Belle And Sebastian - Dress Up In You

I actually really liked this one, beautifully recorded and I like the way the story runs through it. There'll all hypocrites so fuck them all too is the best bit. :)

11. Gram Parsons - $1000 Dollar Wedding

OK, good lyrics but the music didn't appeal too much.

12. Harry McClintock - Big Rock Candy Mountain

Ah, I love this track ever since I saw it on O, Brother - great track.

13. Johnny Cash - Man In Black

I've been getting into Johnny Cash recently so this was a welcome addition.

14. The Doors - The End

This was a great track to end on. It runs for quite a while but was constantly interesting.

Quite a mixed bag for me this month. On one hand there were tracks that did nothing to me but on the other I got introduced to some new stuff which I wouldn't normally get to hear.

Cheers mate. :)

My tracklist for scribble:

01. Fingathing - Don't Turn Around (just the intro)

02. Timo Maas - Haven't We Met Before

03. Pepe Deluxe - Cruel Youth

04. Herbert - Suddenly

05. Quantic Soul Orchestra - Talking Drums Whispering Vinyl

06. Johnny Pate - El Jardia

07. Alpinestars - Burning Up

08. AIM - Cold Water Music

09. Fingathing - Don't Turn Around

10. Lifer's Group - The Real Deal (DJ Shadow remix)

11. Bonobo - Silver

12. King Seven - Simple Folk

13. DJ Nu-Mark - Unwind

14. Mark B. & Blade - From The Wordlab

15. Ugly Duckling - If You Wanna Know

16. RJD2 - Ghostwriter

17. The Herbaliser - Sensual Woman

18. Lalo Schifrin - Wide Willy

19. Dr. Octagon - Blue Flowers Revisited

20. Roni Size & Reprazent - Brown Paper Bag (Photek Remix)

21. Boards Of Canada - Sequoia

22. The Dining Rooms - Numero Deux

23. Gustavo Santaolalla - The Wings

Highlights for me this month were the Quantic track from the keepintime album which has got more excellent stuff if you like this. It was also good to hear Ghostwriter again - nearly used the remix but the original can't be bettered imo. I stuck the Boards of Canada track on there as I guessed that you might like them - I've not heard this track before it was off a blog somewhere which I'll try and dig the link out if you want.

As usual if you want any of the tracks unmixed then give me a shout. :)
