Soong, you first as your mix was shortest  The first track sounded more like electro/breaks than house. The second track that came in though, that was acid house. Any idea what it's called? You know that sound, kinda like a wasp - that's acid. So for you, here is a wicked acid house track:

Just listening to your mix Nate. Started off good, liked the skippy, swinging beats at the start. Then it got a bit boring and now it's got a bit too r'n'b (of all things). The Faith Evans accapella seemed to spoil a really nice sounding dub and now Common is rapping too fast and it just doesn't sound right. Not too sure on that Cure bootleg either......

It's a complete pisstake in places.

I did it when I was living in Bournemouth and all the feedback I got for my other mixes was that they weren't commercial-sounding enough.

Fine, then. Have a Cure bootleg at a ridiculous speed! Have a Faith Evans acapella! Have a rubbish Common booty!

I realise it's daft as a brush in places but it's just a bit of fun (that's why it's called games in fact).

Stick with it as the last third is much tougher and less daft. Except for the very last track.

I'll up my most favouritest mix ever ever ever when I get home. Much more serious, chinstroking dadhouse layered stuff.

I don't understand this subscriber business as well as I thought it seems. I joined up to get the Global Communication cd, so do I get a new cd of the same series every 2 months or one from each series every month? I was gonna cancel anyway to be honest, all the new ones look a bit shit and I've grabbed the old ones I wanted now.

/me likes (didn't have that mix ;))

I just felt like I had to post in this thread even though I don't have too much to add. My genre of choice is dance music. This started off with trance (about 5 years back) and has progressed through house (including the cheesy side) toward a more acid house/breakbeat sound. As my music taste matured I think the hip-hop influence played a big part in this change.

Loving Nate's mix

Also, you should check out my H-Grooves mix on timdp's site (it's in the guest section). It's deep and druggy hypnotic house music. http://www.timdp2.com/mixed/

:)

I might try and do a mix tomorrow as I have the day off. No idea what to use though!

Just grabbing yours now.

If it drops out to a mellow warpy bassline it's one of:

ATFCs Tango with Tallauh Mix

ATFC's Jive for Jezabel Mix

or if it's drops to a jangly guitar loop and then an acidy bassline it's:

Mirable Man's Re-Touch

All of which are wicked with a capital W  <_<

Well, I've worked out the mix I was on about is a Mike Rules' one, but I downloaded the Mirable Man's Re-Touch, and that is indeed special. I could look like a twat on the dancefloor to this (which is a compliment, by the way.)

:)

Go for it.

3. Outta Space (Meitz Remix Dub) - Daniel Paul

4. No Stoppin - M.A.N.D.Y.

5. Discopolis (Original Mix) - Lifelike

6. Body Language - M.A.N.D.Y. vs Booka Shade

8.White Dwarf (Zeegfunk Mix) - Chicken Lips

9. Bar-a-thym (Original Mix) - Kerri Chandler

Hardly any vocals, much more progressive, but still leaning towards the mainstream. And the mixing is muuuch better on this one, even if there are a couple of jump cuts :)

I had a listen to this last night and must admit that for the first half, it's just the kind of house that I object to. The beats are too simple and repetitive, the basslines are predictable and the vocals are forgetable. Even the mixing is dull, with the tracks breaking down to the outro/intro beats and effects for most mixes.

On a more positive note, I liked the Brighter Days track - nice and chunky and euphoric. The second half in general was less funky house and more chunky electronic grooves which was preferable. I think I've heard Lola's theme too much now though. Easy is an awesome tune though so kudos for ending with that one. I might be cheeky and snip your mix in half cos I did quite enjoy the second part.

Getting your new one now. Also uploading a mix I did today.

I picked out a bunch of records last night, from funky commercial house to tech house and even some dirty acid goodness. Did the mix this morning, it's a little rough but then I haven't touched my decks for a couple of months so I'm out of practice (plus I'm not as familiar with the records as I could be). Consider it an introduction to the variety of house available.

Aye - thats a fair assessment. I was aiming for that though - it was a direct response to Soongs AAAALRIGHT rant. And I know I cant mix for toffee  Even when cheating using a computer ! The new one should be more up your street, but the mxing is still pretty straightforward beatmatcing (but thats an improvement over my old CD's where nothing was mixed at all and I everything has 90 sec intro's and outro's)

I was sick of Lola's, but I havent heard it for a while - I put it on as it was the first house tune I fell in love with. There actually was a point where I couldn't here it without wanting to go out there and then.

I'm downloading you mix now. Loving all this music sharing action.

In my defence Nate, I'd not heard the original before I heard the bootleg. It was on the b-side to one of the 'where love lives/lazy' mash-ups and I actually took the time to email the guys who made it to ask about the 'firebug' track cos I loved it so much. They pointed me in the direction of the original, which as you suggest, is lovely.
