The House Music Thread

Disaster. I've just seen Solu Music - Fade on the Sky channel, Flaunt. It's got a big cheesy remix that totally misses the point, the women singing isn't Kimberlee, and it's all rubbish. I hate it when they do things like this.

A quick search in winamp reveals that I don't have a digital copy of the original, so I just recorded the vinyl.

Lovely song it is too so it shall be my new sig material. Cross posting in the beautiful songs thread too.

Listen & enjoy:

Ah, just when I was starting to think this thread was a bit too high-brow for me! Love that song. I got a nice remix of that from Traxsource a couple of months ago, slightly speeded up but doesn't lose the best bits.

I haven't heard this other remix though... is the different singer really that noticable?

A quick listen to the Eric Kupper, Hex Hector and ADYN mixes reveal that they all loose the subtilty and emotion of the original. Some tunes just don't need a remix, you know.

I just posted another nice tune in the "what I'm listening to" thread peeps. Aren't I good to you! :D

Don't you just love it when you find a great little tune you never realised you had?

I was rummnaging through some old vinyl and picked out H-Foundation's Nite Life 02 doublepack. I only ever played a couple of tracks from disc one in my sets but the last track on disc two is ace. I liked it so much, I did a little re-edit of it. It's by Leroy Hanghofer, the track is called Pin and the original remix was by Jaques Lucont & Sloop John Barillo.

It's more house than any other genre tag I can think of so I thought I'd post it here. Enjoy!

I thought I'd give this the kiss of life with the news that on Friday night I played with the Cut Up Boys and Judge Jules. It was only for just over half an hour but it was wicked. It was rammed (800ish people) as people were waiting for Jules and the Cut Up Boys had been rocking. Quite a few of the girls at the front obviously thought I was the Judge himself as were taking photos! Quite tricky to follow the Cut Up Boys as for most of their set they played their usual mashup party stuff but ended with Pendulum's Slam and Voodoo People, Barcelona and then Kaiserchiefs!

Here's what I played:

Unknown - Bakerman

Rogue Traders - Voodoo Child (12" Mix)

Unknown - Talking Changes

David Guetta vs. The Egg - Love Don't Walking Away

Infernal - From Paris to Berlin (Hoxton Whores Remix)

Jules came on and dicked about with my last tune for about 3-4 mins without any headphones on just looping and sampling bits of it - I learnt more in that time than in the previous year of DJing!

Cut Up boys seemed cool, said they liked my set as brief as it was, and Jules was pleasant enough (although he did say about arriving through the venue's bar back doors "just not glamourous").

Takes my tally of Radio One DJs I've worked with to five...just Tongy to go now!

Pics to follow when I'm in work next...

People should also be checking out 'Omega Man' by Fred Falke which is currently on my blog.

That whole Cut Copy FabricLive is aces! Is that a standalone version of that track you've upped or the mixed version lifted from that Fabric mix cd?

It seems appropriate to give Mr Falke's partner a mention here as I'm currently loving the Alan Braxe remix of Space Cowboy, available on fluxblog.

Yup, the Cut Copy mix is the best fabric cd for some time. Especially after the dissapointment of Tiefschwarz. Just grabbing the Braxe remix, thanks. I stupidly thought it might be Jamiroquai's Space Cowboy for a second, although it's probably better that it isn't. As for Omega man, it's the full length original version

Cut Copy was indeed fantastic. I'd been strongly considering cancelling the membership as I've disapointed with most of the stuff they've sent. Tiefschwarz was pap, as was Herbaliser, and Wiggle and Audion for that matter. Cut Copy was like listening to the 80's.

I grabbed that and while it's quite nice, it's a bit wussy isn't it. You need some hardcore Braxe in your life:

Jon Lord Fonda - So Far Away (Alan Braxe Remix)

Also, the Erol Alkan Bugged Out mix album is awesome!

Sorry for quoting myself but this track is AMAZING! It's just layer upon layer of filthy synthesizer heaven. I've never had the speakers so loud. Can't believe I've had this on the pc so long and ignored it.
