I'm just taking a break from my new DS Lite Black, to tell you how AWESOME this system is. I'm playing Castlevania: DoS, and it looks amazing on the new screens. I'm not even using the highest setting on the brightness (I'm using the second highest setting), and compared to the old DS, this looks like a brand new game. You can actually SEE all the nifty parallax scrolling in the background now and it looks fantastic ;)

I would recommend the Black edition, because - to me at least - the screens and the contrast just looks better. I tested it with Resident Evil on both systems and I think it looks better on Black.

The best deal I found was Gamestation who were doing a DS Lite plus any game of your choice for £109

Thats the deal I got. DS Lite + Animal Crossing for £109.

No decent cases in though.

Has anybody seen any decent slip cases? The stylish small form factor is crying out for a slim slip case of some kind.

I think I asked earlier, but I never saw an answer and I don't feel like going all 130 pages again:

Does the DS Lite have a reflective screen like the GBA/SP so that you can even play it in bright conditions like sunny day/direct sunlight?

I find the DS (and PSP for that matter) unplayable in broad daylight while the GBA/SP did fine.

Are there any good deals on games at all anywhere? I have my DS Lite now but need to pick up Metroid and a few others.

Also I notice the Lite doesnt have the hand strap with the controller nubbin on it. Does the Lite just not use this feature? Super Mario 64 DS is pretty much unplayable without it IMO.

Gamestation bloke 2 : "It's kind of like Command and Conquer, you know, you build tanks and stuff."

I very nearly walked out in disgust, however the temptation of White DS Lite was to great.

.::: Well near the end of each game Samus is more or less a walking high speed tank.... Maybe that's what they meant? ;)

The thumbstrap was always a bad idea so it's a good thing they got rid of it, if only to prevent other publishers from ever developing something that needed it again.

Ladies and gentleman, no need to vote as here's the wrongest post of the day. Metroid owns the thumbstrap, it's a requirement for the best FPS experience on the DS.

just picked up my DS Lite from HMV, they had some package deals with ds lite and either brain training, phoenix wright, fifa soccer 2 or some other game that i cant remember for £109.99.

Well impressed with the screens so far and no deaed pixels yet, which is nice!

Bring on the Wii!

Just joined the club - bit ironic really that something so hard to get hold of in Japan is freely available here. Hundreds of Rllmuk threads are now at risk of intervention by the Guru. ;):(;)

Anyway, idiotic question of the day:

How do you change the brightness setting? I cant seem to see that option in the control set up or as a button. Is the default setting the machine comes with the middle one?

.::: Got to the main screen and touch the symbol in the lower left corner. (If your DS is set to Auto: hold Start while booting.)
