Sorry if this has been already dealt with (but I can't really trawl through 131 pages right now at work) but what is the best way to test for dead pixels on a DS Lite?

.::: A game with black transition screens. Tetris DS's boot screen worked for me.

Gagh, my fiance got her black one of these from Gameplay yesterday, and now I want to junk my DS phat and go and get one too. I confess I haven't read all 133 pages of this thread, so in general do people think it's worth dropping another £100 for this?

.::: It's essential if you enjoy DS games. If you're a twelve year old depending on parents you can do without unfortunately. ;)

Yes. Once you see the screen in the flesh, it's unbelieveably good.

.::: Oh dear, why have you striked your codes? You did transfer settings eh?

Repost:

How to transfer Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection settings

* Boot up Nintendo DS with Wi-Fi game.

* Go to Wi-Fi Settings within game to reach the special settings screen.

* Choose 'Options'.

* Choose 'Transfer Nintendo WFC Configuration'

* Boot up Nintendo DS Lite into main menu (hold start/no games inserted).

* Choose 'DS Download Play'.

* Choose the settings from the Nintendo DS.

The entire configuration will now be moved to the DS Lite. That means all your online games will function on the DS Lite as they did on the old DS, meaning all your old Friend Codes and such remain valid.

Your old DS however will not have any of the settings left. Do NOT play the same online games with the old DS anymore and if you still do, DO NOT under any circumstance go online with the game. Doing so will generate a new online profile erasing the previous one, making your old settings invalid on both handhelds.

Hopefully this clears things up. To be safe: after transferring only play your online games on the DS which has received the settings.

I read your post, knew what to do, went to Gamestation, but the fucking nazi 'sales assistant' wouldnt allow me to even touch the Lite whilst still in ownership of my old DS.

So now i need all new settings, THANKS DICK!

That's the problem, now that I've seen the screens side by side it's really made me want one, the DS lite screen makes the colours on the DS screen seem so washed out, and that's before you even start talking about the screen brightness

Myself and 5 colleagues just went down to GAME to buy soem DS Lites - about 5/6 in total was the plan..... but they refused to sell us any until after 2 o'clock as we hadn't pre-ordered - grrrr!

Frustrating, since none of the guys I went with currently own DSs, and they're now less likely to be bothered.

Ah well... looks like they're much in demand though - lots of people trying to buy in that branch of GAME at elast.

Getting mine tomorrow - can't wait :-)

I got a loverly white one in the end, black looked nicer closed but suffered from sticky finger syndrome. First one had a dead pixel but was no problem to change.

I had to go to Blockbusters in the end as getting to Gamestation proved impossible thanks to a tanker overturning. Nothing was going to stop the Lite goodness. NOTHING!!

Got my black DS Lite today in HMV.

The first one had a dead pixel (best place to check is the ds set up, turn on with no games, all white backgrounds etc)

They replaced it with another, I checked in store and its perfect!

The screen and overall look make it worth the purchase, no longer will I be afraid to play this in public (im a adult with a job and kids of my own, so playing with a *childs toy* in public is embarrassing, but now no longer).

The new buttons are all ace as is the stylus but what is with the D-pad? its a nightmare for diagonals?

*not my perception, but sadly everyone else of my ages*

The Gestapostation staff wouldn't take my old DS because it was a US model, even though I showed them it would play European games, and I had a UK charger. Cunts. Got my deposit back, went to GAME and traded it in with no bother. They even let me do the settings transfer, and the staff were quite helpful and chatty. Clearly this is a sign of the end times. We should enjoy our games while we can.

Got myself a black one with animal crossing from gamestation for £109 today (the other good deal was asdas £89 for the console alone).

The trainee at work was quite interested in it at work and enjoyed testing braintraining on it though it did have diffculty recognising the colour she was saying on it a few times. Will get busy with animal crossing later tonight and see if I can get online with it.

Must agree with you, I got a bit further and have done a few things for Nook. Explored the town, saw Eloise and Teddy move in, got bored. What are the highlights for those who have AC, because right now it's not doing much for me.

Why are you using the buttons on Animal Crossing? It's begging to be "stylused".

Dunno... the missus plays it with the stylus. Tend to find things quicker with buttons, like using keyboard shortcuts rather than a mouse. Too easy to accidentally pick up furniture using the stick. But then I tend to fish out the stylus to sell things to Nook. Mind you the Lite has changed stylus play on AC as well. There's more traction on the touch screen, so I suppose it can make movement more accurate, but you tend to have to drag it further to move quickly.

BTW. HMV have official Nintendo Lite carry cases on sale for £9.99. Just picked one up. Only Games shop in Glasgow that seems to decent cases in...
