No dead pixels here. White DS Lite too. I think there's some kind of pattern....

None on mine either...

Although I wish someone, somewhere would invent anti static screens. I open the thing up, immediately it harbours dust...

Never mind. I'm suitably impressed with the thing, and Phoenic Wright is turning out to be smashing.

You opened it from the wrong end :D

I did? It only opened from one end as far as I could tell. Terrible, terrible packaging, must have got tips from whoever packages up Barbie dolls (any parent will tell you just how bad THEY are)

No dead pixels on my black Lite. I don't think it matters what colour it is, pretty much anecdotal evidence so far.

About the sound from the Lite compared to the old DS; I think it's the same speakers in both, only the sound in the old DS resonates within the hollow top half shell to produce a slightly meatier, or crispier, sound volume. The Lite's top is dead flat, no air pockets.

The D-pad is a slightly larger version of the Micro pad, the buttons identical in feel and size to the Micro's. Same goes for the screens, they look exactly like the Micro screen only bigger ofc.

It's all good.

ok... first time DS owner here.. long time nintendo fan :D (ok im not an alcoholic lol)

So quick question, I know the screens are different because of the touch screen, but does anyone find that the touch screen has a slight yellow tint to it compared to the top one? Being petty I know lol :D

Sounds like there is something wrong with your touch screen.

.::: Nope, apparantly they changed the coating of the bottom screen. It's supposed to be more durable but also slightly darker as a result. Nothing to worry about though.

Does the battery work like a phone one in the way that its best to wait till its fully depleted before charging?

Or will it not matter how often or when I charge?

A new DS Lite does not need a full charge before first use. Nor is it best to fully exhaust the battery before charging. It will make no difference to the longevity of the battery.

The Lite, like the previous DS, Micro, mobile phones, etc, uses a Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) battery. Li-Ions prefer to be charged partially, not fully depleted and then charged in full. As such, the Lite should be charged often and in small pieces. This is better for the battery, as Li-Ion batteries hold no memory.

Oh man, I want one of these so much now!

How much could I get for my DS if sold to an unsuspecting friend? >:]

50-60

GS give 45 quid, and will give you a choice of any game for a 10er. an extra 65 for a lite and a new game is a great deal son.

I've got a friend who DOES want to buy a DS but is too cheap to buy one, but I'll have a look in Gamestation today, thanks for the heads up!

I picked mine up from Game yesterday, £109.99 with Metroid: Hunters, I was ok with that deal as I wasnt expecting to get a free game anywhere.

Its a very lovely machine, and theres nothing about it that doesnt impress me. The best news for me is that I havent owned for about a year so theres loads of games I can pick up now that are hopefully a little cheaper! Though i'll be damned if I can find a cheap copy of Meteos anywhere...

Hunters seems good, its a lot prettier in motion than screens in mags can convey (true with most DS games) and it handles very well. The only thing i've found is the jump can be a bit sensitive, but no biggy.

What other games come highly recommended? Baring in mind i've played Mario 64, Wario Ware and Advance Wars in on its way...

Castlevania, Phoenix Wright, Sonic Rush, Tetris and Trauma Centre. New Super Mario Bros. when it's out next week as well.

Buggery bumming arse!!!!! I pre-ordered my DS at Game and picked it up yesterday morning first thing. Then when I check on here most people are getting a DS game for an extra tenner. When did that start? I wasn't offered that option, I'd really like Metroid Hunters so I'm a bit miffed.

Do you think they'd let me have the offer if I go back and whinge a bit? Think I'm going to anyway it's worth a shot for a cheap DS game.
