Nintendo DS Lite

I missed out on the DSphat, and picked up a DS lite this lunchtime from gamestation.

It is a beautiful bit of kit, the touch screen works much better than i thought it would do too. Didn't know which colour to get, but when you see the black and white together there is no contest - the white wins hands down - the matt black finish inside looks pretty shabby.

Anyway, a new DS with trauma for 109, excellent.

now come on nintendo, make all new releases 20 quid and clean up the handheld market.

the original GB phat is a design icon, as are the GBA and SP.

the DS Phat is the biggest piece of shit ever. itss like a prototype they couldnt be bothered to finish. so many issues with it. RIP.

Wonder what GAME and GS are going to do with the millions that were traded in yesterday?

Sell them? Lots of people, or kids parents, will be happy to buy them when they are cheaper than a brand new Lite.

I had the original DS but never took it out of the house and hardly played it as the games were alright but nowt special imo. So I sold it [but kept Castlevani back :(]

I picked up a white lite yesterday [easily the best colour of the two :)] with Tetris and Brain Training and when I got home my bro had got me Metroid with NSMB on the way next week.

I haven't put the lil bugger down other than to get some sleep. It's swish looking, it's light and bright and just feels like the first DS should have. Another thumbs up for the new design here deffo.

I'm just back from town with mines - £30 it cost me after trade-ins so I'm dead pleased... even more so because it's so fucking gorgeous! Those screens are to die for, and it just plain looks like a solid piece of kit. Well done Nintendo.

Also, it now matches my iBook and iPod! :)

White FTW!

It really does the give the games a new lease of life.

Also is there anything better than leisurely reading through the reactions of other forumites in one of these 'event threads' to whet one's appetite before a big release?

I'm not digging the random rough-textured bits of the touchscreen. Do these wear away? They're screwing up my dragging in Ouendan and Animal Crossing.

I noticed that too!!

Doesn't seem as much of a problem since yesterday though.

I think you just have to get used to it. I definitely prefer the new touch screen. It feels more like you're writing on a sheet of paper cos there's a bit of resistance to it... I'm even getting used to the shitty spongey D-pad in AC. Running diagonal is still awkward, but good for rotating on the spot.

The girlfriend smacked me last night because I hugged it. :)

It was nobody's fault.

Now, now.

I was joining in the black and white banter when I posted that link, and I get assaulted from all sides for being "stupid" and "trolling".

I think this is a blatant manifestation of "black envy".

WHITE POWER!

Or perhaps your love of the black one is you compensating for the fact that everyone else had a DS Lite four fucking months ago, and in a nicer box no less.

I noticed this aswell and was a bit :) but after playing for most of the day its definately worn in - I think its just a trait of it being a brand-new unused screen - its all smooth now.

Really happy with my Black DS - its sexy shit. No dead pixels and decided to pick it up with Trauma Center and also picked up Tony Hawks from HMV. Noticeable tougher screen aswell - there really is no need whatsoever for screen protectors.

I think that the best looking games on the new screen are Ouendan and Kirby. Ouendan looks really vibrant and you can notice all the subtly now like the nice shades of lime of the green circle points. The backgrounds in Kirby are utterly amazing though.
