The Unofficial Aston Villa thread!

David O’Leary didn't make any excuses last night regarding the suspect penalty decisions that spoilt an alright game.

The Lions faced the 2nd best team in Europe (Barca being 1st) and at times played them off the park. Nobody expected Villa to even have a sniff at the goal mouth action. So imagine everyone’s surprise when Luke Moore deflected one past the keeper from a Mark Delaney pass, from a team that looked like they should be in the top half of the table instead of the bottom.

My point is that Villa, Manchester United, Newcastle and Everton have been plagued with Dodgy referee decisions consistently all season. David O’Leary also looked certain for the chop, especially if we’d have lost a few more games.

It is now time to stop relying on outdated methods to decide crucial moments in a game, Cricket, F1, Rugby, Tennis, American Football, the list goes on and all use video or other

playback technology to rule out human error.

The FA all need sacking and replacing with people who understand the concerns of the fans, managers and the clubs…

And while they are at it, keep Sven in his fuckin job, do anything to keep that half - wit, penalty missing wanker Stuart Pearce out...

Feel better now...

Aston Villa is not worth bothering until O'Leary and Ellis leave.

We must remember our beloved leader say we have no money.

I am a big Villa (and Real Madrid) fan. I haven't even watch the highlight from yesterday yet. But I will do in a few minutes.

I wish the takeover get a move on. Preferable to be finished by the end of season so we can have whole summer to look for new players and manager.

As much as we all hate being on the end of dodgy decisions I think that, over a season, things even themselves out. Last night being a prime example.

If you need to point to one or two games making the difference to staying up or going down, you're not having the best of seasons anyway.

My problem with Villa over recent years (and most but not all is down to Doug) is that we never push-on when we are doing well and that we quite often fail at getting the best out of promising players e.g. Alan Thompson, Darius Vassell, George Boateng etc.

We are known these days as an average club, who can match Chelsea or Arsenal one week and lose to Portsmouth the next.

Frustrating for most people but if you happen to have the misfortune of being a fan....well, it's a world of hurt!

Isn't it just. You make a good point about Vassel too - did he ever play as well for Villa as he is for Man City now? I'm actually delighted for him, but how did he not produce that kind of form for Villa before? That half-wit, penalty missing Stuart Pearce is obviously good for something!

Lions?

Millwall played Aston Villa??

Oh dear, Sean. You've let yourself down.

Check the badge, then check when Villa were founded. Then recognise.

Don Rosco > you could say the same for Crouch too. He always looked very capable and has performed for every club before and after us. Mind you, a good player excels when he has a good team around him.

On paper Villa should be performing much better than they have in the last year or two. One can only hope that DOL stays and continues to build - takeover or not.

O'Leary does come across as a bit of an apologist and sycophant at times but a guy at work when to a motivational-training type thing where DOL spoke. Apparently he was very impressive.

It's quite nice when a manager talks honestly about the opposition...I even felt a bit of pride listening to Mourinho's thoughts on the game last night but I don't like it when they constantly say how they need better players but the ones they have are 'trying their best'. Surely this can't help on a motivational tip?

However, like England, you have to ask who's better who would actually want the job? We should stick with O'Leary IMO.

Woooah! Don't get the Millwall fans in a mood. They are the scariest fans in football...

Villa, of course, have the nickname of The Villains but for as many years as I've been going down the Villa have always sang 'C'mon You Lions!".

It's only like the Hammers also been called the Irons, I guess.

I don't think it's fair to be lectured on whether this is right by a load of never-have-beens and a fucking Bluenose. ;)
