Gerrard? Alonso? Carragher? Hyppia? Finnan? etc

Gerrard? Yes

Alonso? probably

Carragher? yes

Hyppia? No

Finnan? No

Spurs would have - Robbinson, Carrick, King, Defoe, Keane, Mido and people like Dawson + Lennon who are future top players. And yes some are probably and some may not.

I dont think Liverpool have a great team, certinally Man U, Chelsea + Arsenal at their best are a different class to Liverpool - what you do have is consistency and great organisation, the ability to win all the games you should win where the other teams have not done this year.

With the exception of Gerrard and Alonso who are class, Liverpool have average players that play very well as a team when they are on form. A bit like Ireland to a degree.

Spurs are just having their token over-achieving season like they do every 10-15 years. Don't get too excited

Spurs wouldn't get out of the Champions League qualifying rounds. An extended UEFA Cup campaign will do Spurs the world of good and boost their co-efficient score.

Frankly if Rangers can do it and Liverpool win it.......

Seiously, a season or two in the Uefa cup, getting used to the whole European thing, using the cash to improve the team wouldn't be a bad idea, frankly if bolton and borough can get so far then we'd have to be confident of doing as well as them...

  • 2 weeks later...

So, here we are for the last time, looking forward to playing the south london nomads at the library, the quietest stadium I've ever seen a match at thanks to an arse supporting friend who took me a couple of times.

For the first time - for a long old time we're above that bunch who moved in down the 7 sisters road, pretty bloody weird feeling , nosebleed inducing if you like.

This match is a cross roads - A win for spurs and the Arse are staring down the barrel of a gun, new stadium, in debt, best player considering his future, not favoured to beat Barcelona in the champions league final. Spurs, looking at maybe champions league, they'll have cash to spend unlike Everton and they aren't crap either. If they lose arse go 4th, Spurs have to start praying and are threatened with losing Carrick to Man Utd and Defoe to Liverpool with the possibility of Lennon, Dawson and King being attracted elsewhere.

So it's shit or bust time for both teams.

My prediction - the scum to come out all guns blazing and go for the early knockout before bringing on the likes of Pires who always do well against us. to beat Arsenal the team have to play tight, soak it up and then outwill them, playing the ball out to the wings and taking their chances.

Arsenal should win this but as it's a derby they usually end up 1-1 with a team having played really well , deserving the win and then throwing it all away.

I take this one to be no different with honours even, Lensman wound up by that threatening Keene (what a hard man taking on the smallest bloke on the field, wonder if he'll target Lennon instead?) Arse players diving where ever possible and looking at those who dare to tackle them like they've just commited murder. Any kind of result will be treated like a champions league win with a spurs win likely to result in a full on stealing of anything that isn't nailed down in the spurs end, a draw for me, probably with a spurs player sent off due to diving ;-).

Not yet they don't. But what with the final games for both teams, Spurs needs this to end in, at worst, a draw.

Either way, you're being incredibly melodramatic with this "shit or bust time for both teams". To be honest, I think it's more important for Spurs to actually produce this season.

i think any spurs fan would happily have taken a uefa cup spot at the start of the season! the fact we're even discussing the possibility of a champions league spot this late in the season is excellent progress for spurs.

:)

I guarantee you they will all be at Spurs next season regardless of tomorrows result.

Yeah, who wants em ! :)

It's an interesting one - Wengers stood up and said he'd have bought Jenas, Carrick and Defoe, Liverpool have on the face of it tried to tap up Defoe and Fergie Doesn't turn at at your ground to view tactics, he does it to let players know he's there and interested...

And yes as 5th is probably the minimum we can get now it is bloody excellent progress, 14th, 9th, 5th. 5th would be excellent but tapered with the knowledge that if we'd held out against Sunderland we'd probably had made 4th..

When did he say this?

I thought he said they are good players and he followed their progress but not that he wanted to buy them, same with Robinson.

Tapping up??? Not every attempt at signing a player the fans don't want to leave, is tapping up! :)

Also, whats with this defeatist attitude? You are still 4th, you can easily finish 4th but you have a tough tough game tomorrow. I watched the Man U match (my bro is a Spurs fan so he drags me like i drag him to 'Pool matches) and I thought that you had much more chance of winning than the Scum did! Unfortunately you lacked any sort of variation without Mido up front and two of your defenders played very poorly. Tottenham are a much improved side from the one I have seen in recent seasons and you genuinely deserve to be where you are. Hopefully you won't chuck it away now and get back on form against Arsenal.

Like I said though, tough tough game and I think it could go either way.

Carrick was lined up to come in two summers ago when Vieira was thinking over the Real Madrid deal. As far as I know no serious interest shown in signing the other two.

Oh yeah I remember that with Carrick. Agree never heard of any interest in the other two.

What team you support probably makes a difference but this comment is just :):(

No football fan would believe that, however blinkered they are!

On an answer to who would get into the Man U, Arsenal or Chelsea squad from Liverpool. Again, this is a joke. Apart from Chelsea both Arsenal and Man U would kill for some of Liverpool and Spurs's players. Both these teams have average players aswell!

Reacall a story on the bbc website with Wenger discussing players that we bought but Arsenal should/could have and those plus Robinson were mentioned.

Personally for me none of them are foreign enough for Wenger to have bought them, Pennant and Jeffers have probably put him off English players for good.

I personally believe a 1-1 draw tomorrow, one team 1 up for yonks throwing it away and honours even. Pires to score for arse, mido for spurs, Lensman to pick a fight with the smallest player on the pitch and go down like he's shot if someone even looks at him.

Do you mean the Everton game?

He does when his next game is an important one against Spurs and it's also handy that he only has to travel 30 miles to do so.

I suppose he could think of worse bank holiday days out...

I'm convinced Villareal will beat us in the return match and thus sour the season but this is tempered by the wonderous feeling I'm getting that tomorrow, in our last match at marvellous and stately Highbury against those poncy underachievers from the run down and soulless White Hart Lane, we will frickin' crucify them. Martin Jol will quit in shame and go into exile on the moon after we're through with you lusers.

Um, possibly. Maybe.

Heh souless - I've never heard a quieter stadum than the library and that was a derby you won both times.

that squirel only ran into your stadum as he knew his sleep wouldn't be disturbed, Now fuck off back to plumstead ;-)

At least the Spurs fans know more than 2 songs. :)

They know more, it's just you can't hear them sing!

I of course regard the Arse with nothing but contempt but thats because I remember their mid 80's attendances of sub 20k, pre graham in the days when we were getting 44K. Despite being rubbish for years our support has massively held up, the same could not be said for that bunch of nomads when they were crap.

I've lost count of gooners tellimg me they have bigger fish to fry, though why my gooner friends have had to call me, email me and generally come out of the wood work is beyond me, anyone would think that this is the match that matters deep down and that in their psyche they know, deep down they are just a small team from Woolwich ;-)

If ever you needed evidence they are a one man team that lot and have the mentality of spoilt kids there it is, you play until the whistle. nice to see lovely cuddly pires and his usual antics. And to think the police were warning the Spurs players about taunting the arse fans, having just watched Henry run 80 yards to wind up the yids, fair enough son if it really matter that much to you.

Still think about it, 2004, at WHL spurs get an equaliser and treat it as if it's a win, FF to 2006.......

1-1

Played them off the pitch for most of the game, Henry is a genius tho - or as i like to see it a cunt :)

Why did he take Lennon off and not Davids, Lennon was ripping them to shreds and Davids on a yellow card ?

He was trying to shut it down i suppose. He should've taken Davids, though, especially as they were evidently trying to piss him off.

Good game, too bad we couldn't have gotten anything from our 1st half posession. Without Henry and Fabregas on the pitch Arsenal looked very very average.

Surely the minute Wenger called Jol a "liar" in his post-match interview for claiming not to have seen the incident, he must have realised the irony? More disturbing was Henry standing next to Carrick in the latter's man of the match interview with Sky, trying to coax him into saying the wrong thing. Spurs were the better team, Wenger was planning for Tuesday, and I saw nothing wrong with the goal. If two of the opposing players run into each other and the ref waves play on, there's nothing for Spurs to answer for.

THat's just what I thought. It's not like we've taken a player down to give us extra space, and it's not like Eboue didn't stay on the pitch and finish the match.

I think they were just pissed off because they didn't get the chance to do it to us :)
