Bent and Berbs have been playing together in Pre-season, with Berbatov staying behind in the hole more and looking pretty good. I even saw him smile in the Roma game ^_^

Berba's move hinges on what happens tomorrow with the tapping up dossier we gave to the FA. There were reports Man U insisted we dropped it before they put a new bid in (bit worried there boys?), which Levy has no intention of doing, so unless they table a bid of £30mil+ today I think the move is looking less and less likely.

What do you think of my formations? ^_^

I think they're pretty good, except I think O'Hara is going to feature more than Zokora this year in midfield, with Zok being our 'jack of all trades' backup.

Also Assou-Ekotto was looking good again at LB against Roma, and Bale was again up on the left wing for the 2nd half, with GDS moving to the middle. Things cold be a bit more fluid than last year I think.

Seriously, say what you think.

ok,

I think the team which includes Berbatov looks better (obviously probably)

Your back four looks pretty good, but can Woodgate and King stay fit?

I haven't seen much of Gomez, but I remember when you played PSV last season he played good but he seemed quite eratic, all over the place, a bit like David James, which I suppose isn't such a bad thing.

Never really rated Zokora, or Jenas really, but Jenas seems full of running and gets everywhere at least.

I quite like Bent to be honest, not sure what's happened with him since you signed him.

Is next season really gonna be the one?

Do you guy's fancy 4th place next season? (at Liverpool's expense obviously)

How can Spurs be so up for justice on tapping up players after the way they got Ramos? I'm not trying to single them out particularly, the whole thing is clearly being done by pretty much all the big teams anyway.

Next season, the team are aiming for a top 4 finish, do I think it's going to happen? Who knows but I definitely think we are a strong team and I hope we have a good run in the UEFA cup and I certainly believe we will trouble the top four sides if not match them with our quality.

I think it's more to do with getting away from our 'selling club' image and trying to protect our best assets.

No, but it was more like 6 or so, wasn't it? Caught meeting him in summer, signed up much later. Who knows what went on before that. Hypocrisy! Which is another thing all the big clubs are guilty of.

In all honesty looking at the Arsenal squad, unless Wenger gets the chequebook out Arsenal's numbers are looking incredibly thin. The fact that Senderos is STILL your no.1 back up centerback says it all.

Well I've heard some crazy folk say "fuck it, we should be aiming for the title", but I'm an optimist not a madman so I'd say 4th would be an achievable goal if we 1) Don't have a massive injury crisis again (Ramos' fitness regime should help avoid this) 2) Get another defensive player, a DM and a Striker (although not Arshavin, he's too pricey ATM) 3) Keep Berbatov or replace him with someone of similar quality and 4) Hope Arsenal and Liverpool can't keep up with ManU and Chelsea (a 2 horse race historically means less points for 4th)

Still, the opposition is a lot stiffer now under that 4th spot than it ever was before. Pompey are looking good, Villa too. Everton are tough to beat (although they may lack goals) and West Ham are decent but haven't been too active it would seem. Man City would have been on that list as well before their recent trouble, and could still be if someone bails them out (although nothing sounds forthcoming).

On top of that I think West Brom are going to do a lot better than many expect, and if Stoke get Zigic they could prove to be a surprise package as well. In short I think its going to be a good season with a lot more competition and y'know, football is a funny old game.

Spurs won't take 4th. Not this season. Season after - yeah maybe.

Loosing Keane and replacing him with young but high potential players will probably mean you're taking a hit for now, which'll pay off the next season.

So guys do you want Berbatov to stay? The stories are here to stay and he seems to want to leave. He's clearly our best player but I want rid, I don't care for players with such little loyalty. I say take the money.

I think Spurs are in for a corker of a season with or without him.

Cha-ching!

I'd like him to stay. He's never said he wants to leave himself and Danchev is a little shit of an agent so I don't want to see him get any kind of payday.

Also note that according to the (paper) press Berbs is having his medical today in Manchester, when he is in fact (as reported on SSN) in training with the rest of the squad in London at our training facility. The papers don't actually know squat about this deal IMO, but they know it'll sell papers to both Man U fans and Spurs fans so they run with it.

Yeah but clearly there is a problem, he is our star striker yet hasn't played a big part in pre-season (definitely not as much as he should have). Ramos would like to keep him I'm sure of that but when a bid in the high twenties is being mentioned then that is the kind of business we can't turn down. As much as I hope he stays, I think he is going before the season starts.

He's been playing in a totally different position though than he has been. Changing from target man to provider is going to mean he won't score as much at first, especially with someone as lethal as Bent in front of him, plus he's not really played with anyone bar Keane up until now. He looked a lot sharper and more involved in the Roma game which to me is a sign he's beginning to feel more comfortable in the role and getting used to being a bit deeper.

I don't think he's have played as much pre-season as he had if we were definitely selling him. We'll hold out for £30mil+ IMO, anything lower will get rejected out of hand, especially now Ramos has done all the hard work in getting him up to fitness for the season.

Yeah fair enough, I would have hoped he'd stay for the right reasons but If he stays because no one will match our price then so be it. We need to keep our best after all.

So do you think we will sign a defensive Mid? Corluca can play there but I've also heard rumours of Veloso being brought in.
