We.

Cannot.

Defend.

For.

Shit.

Actually we have never been able to defend apart from that brief spell when Santini was in charge. The difference was that we could score a shit load of goals with our world class attackers, all of which are now gone. This kind of balanced things out a bit. So, we can't defend (mainly if Ledley King is not playing) and now we can't score goals either.

The end.

Also, I'd imagine confidence is rock bottom what with us being, er, rock bottom.

I was warned by my sister to not watch the highlights. Apparently it's a horror show.

Seriously, it wasn't that bad. We had them pegged back in their penalty area for ages after Gio came on, but we lacked the final ball to get the goals. If we had a settled striker we would have won today, and when we went to a 5 man midfield we looked loads better.

There are a number of things that we can do to sort this out. Play Gunter over Dawson and put Corluka at CB, play Modric or Gio in front of two out of Hudd, Zokora and Jenas, sort Bentley's shit out as he's not playing anywhere near the level we expect, put whoever out of Gio and Modric isn't in the middle on the left and keep Bale at LB.

That would help I think.

I know we have different loyalties but were you watching the same game? We could of had three in the first half and Marlon should have put it beyond doubt.

Friedal wasn't troubled all night and Bent's goal went in off his arse.

Mind you, when your team has settled you'll do fine. Bentley & Jenas should have started...might have been a different game.

Losing Berbatov was unavoidble but selling Defoe & Keane is looking pretty dodgy right now. All your goals will have to come from midfield.

You could have, but Gomes made some amazing saves, and then Jenas made a heroic block to stop Harewood (who isn't exactly world class now is he?) I wasn't talking about the first half anyway, I was on about the second when we started actually working in midfield and you lot were on the back foot. Bentley was poor, wasted some chances to pass and terrible delivery in set pieces again. Lennon and Gio were the ones making things happen, Dos Santos was the shining light in our attacking line IMO and if he had started instead of Bent we would have done better. Bent and Pav kept getting in very similar positions which gave us no link up play between the strikers and the midfield.

Phew, closer than I would have liked but a win nonetheless. We should have scored more really in the 1st half when we had more possession, but looked better in the second and Ramos' changes weren't too mental either. Campbell looked good, shame about the name though(!). Gunter was very good at RB and had the luck to be the only defender who didn't fuck up for their goal, whereas the rest of them were a total shambles.

King made a couple of silly errors, he still looks like he's working out the cobwebs a bit but fortunately Woody looked great for most of the game. Jenas built on the good work he put in at Villa with another good performance although Zokora looked a bit average at times. Gio and Bentley looked like they have started settling properly finally and Lennon looked really good yet again, if they all keep going like that we should be getting somewhere near the potential we have.

Already been vehemently denied by Ramos and the club as far as I know.

There seems to be a hell of a lot of hostility to Commoli coming out, rightly too I think. He's supposed to be finding us great players but I remember last January the stories of Ramos throwing out all of his suggestions out of hand, and now we've come out of the summer without a good DM and without a striker to replace Berbatov. I know the latter was a late deal, but if he was doing his job we should have had someone lined up already.

Oh no, we suck... again!

We are going the way of Leeds with every passing day. If we lose to Hull, I think it will be the worst start to a Premier League campaign by any side ever.

Chin up, lads!

Can I also point out, that I think if we (Leeds) had kept Robbie Keane we'd have stayed up?

The links are mounting!

Man I hope so, we need to get rid of the whole of the backroom staff save possibly Gus and Alvarez before they damn us to the Championship. Either that or Lewis needs to realise that something is seriously wrong with his investment and do it himself, IMO Levy, Commoli and Ramos are finished at the Lane and need to be dealt with right now.

I read something (possibly on here) that said every club Robbie Keane has left has been relegated shortly afterwards. ;)

When he gets bored of being played out of position by Benitez, well, he's more than welcome to return for some Championship action.

He's been recently playing up front as part of a 4-4-2 formation. He played elsewhere in August as we had players missing and we hadn't signed Riera yet.
