Arnesen is more of an exception to the rule to be fair. He's more of a talent spotter for young talent is he not? Kids more than first teamers.

That's what Commoli is supposed to be as well though, he was brought in on the back of Arsenal's record of buying young and developing stars and proceeded to buy us literally no-one near the same calibre. Arnesen brought in quality young players to fill problem areas, we played them and they shone. Commoli has time and again ignored our total lack of a defensive midfielder, and both him and Levy are responsible for us not replacing Keane which has caused this.

Man Utd and Liverpool hardly spend beyond their transfer budgets though. The debt that both clubs have was brought on by the actual purchase of the clubs themselves.

Exactly. And although Rafa has a couple of clowns signing the cheques as well as a clown doing most of the negotiating, he doesn't have one choosing the transfer targets too, unlike Ramos.

I feel for you as fans, you're facing a potential pitfall in terms of who you identify as the problem. You should be united and focus on getting the right men out of the club. I don't think Ramos falls under that category just yet, but then, I said the same of Jol. Your transfer policy this pre-season has cost you many points already and may do more damage still. Those that are responsible for this debacle should be facing the chop. Just as any manager that makes a string of errors in the transfer market must.

Awful, awful, awful, awful.

Wow, that word looks wierd on screen when typed out loads but it doesn't even begin to stress how embarrassingly bad we are at the moment. No cutting edge up front, unable to produce anything but laughter at set pieces, defensively all over the shop and as leaky as a sieve. On top of that we have a keeper who can pull off an amazing acrobatic save one minute and then cost us the game the next.

The sooner we get knocked out of the Uefa Cup the sooner we can start re-building for the Championship because everyone at the club seems to be furiously polishing the brass on the Titanic.

We couldn't be any worse if Ronnie fucking Rosenthal was still playing for us.

So much better we lost 2 -0!

We didn't create enough and, yeah, some key decisions went against us but that's a weak sauce defence. You make your own chances and try to create your own luck, it doesn't come on a plate with garnish. Bad luck isn't the reason we've had such a shocker so far this season, it's that we simply haven't delivered. We have played some nice passing football in patches at times but with zero end product. Nearly every set piece was a waste this evening and every time we lost posession in midfield it looked like they were going to punish us. Our greatest strength was goals once, then we sold them all thus exposing the fact that we still can't even get the basics of defending right.

And the game I was watching had some clown keeper almost fall over backwards whilst trying to control a back pass which resulted in a foul and a penalty. Unlucky, son, unlucky!

We played reasonably well in midfield, but lacked anything up front and then when O'Hara got sent off a lot of players just seemed to shut off. We need to go back to 4-4-2 IMO, Gio looked good at time when he came on and made an excellent chance, stick him on with Pav against Bolton. Jenas was invisible for 90% of the game yet again, one move and to tackles in the entire game are not good enough. Set pieces were again shocking, and that I lay squarely on Ramos. Bale should be practicing FKs and corners for an extra hour after everyone has gone home every training session until he gets better, and Bentley should join him. The fact its been a constant problem since the start of the season is utterly ridiculous, should have been sorted week one.

I never thought I'd say this but I'm starting to not care :(

I have so much going on in my life at the moment that i like to blame my disillusion on that. I cancelled Sky Sports for the fist time in years before the season started so there is part of me that is not enjoying football as much - weird as before this season we had won a cup and all was possible. I even find it hard to care about England playing (typical as we are on the up it seems :) )

I do care but i maybe i am resigned to it all ! 30 games left and its all doom and gloom - let's hope the team get their passion back before i do or they are doomed !

Not really true, and the perfect match to prove it - Udinese barely tried to score, and were gifted two goals really in one form or another. You were the better side, and you lost - it does happen, you know.

Really? I had no idea that could ever happen in a match! Please tell me more! And I'll stop being facetious now!

Perhaps I should have said it doesn't always come on a plate with garnish. Mmmm, garnish.

We didn't do enough to win the game, we didn't take any of our very few chances and attacking set pieces were generally ultra poor. They took theirs with aplomb thank you very much, missus, even if they were 'gifts'. It wasn't a good enough performance to win regardless of lady luck, that game could have gone on for a few more days and we probably still wouldn't have scored.

There certainly wasn't much luck involved in their second, they put it away nicely.

A draw could've been on the cards if that howler by Gomes never happened maybe.

A penalty and a goal that came back off the post and barely made it across the line? Yeah, they certainly took it with aplomb. :) They were pretty much their only chances, too.

I seriously think we watched different matches, or perhaps we're misunderstanding each other. I'm not saying either team was amazing, but rather, out of the two teams on show, Tottenham were the better and were quite unlucky to actually come away with a 2-0 deficit. Not that it was a superb performance and that you're world beaters.

Presumably in this other match I was watching I certainly didn't see Gomes save from Motta, Domizzi (sp?) and then claw out a lob which looked almost destined for the back of the net, no?

Man, I've got a head cold and I'm full of Lemsip and venom today!

They were break attacks though. For the entire first half, Spurs had the ball in Udinese's half, passing it around the box with relative ease. You were almost playing as the home side and, unless I'm mistaken, the chances you speak of were after you were robbed of O'Hara.

Why have you got such a problem accepting that Spurs could have been the better side and still lost?

Because I'm not of the opinion that having lots of possession to no end means more than creating and finishing chances, my dear. Sure, it's important to keep the ball but, y'know, it would be nice if they made something of it once in a while.

It wasn't the worst we've played this season by a long shot, but we've really got to improve in the final third. We had too many games where we have passed it around nicely without anything happening. Don't get me started on set pieces again, either, that shit makes me want to kill kittens.

I really honestly did not think we were the better side all things considered, Keith, but then I was watching a different game where the other team had a few chances. :)

Out of interest, who do you support? (I'm not trying to funny, but if you're gooner it's going to make me chuckle)

I think Bent needs to be put out to seed, he was shite in the bits i saw.

Nah he just needs a partner up front, at the moment he is always isolated and we don't have the players getting in to support him when we're going forward. I'd like to see Gio or maybe even Modric put up top working in the same position as Keane used to take.

If spurs repeat their form from nov-may from last year they'll get 36 points in that time.. roughly...

I think it's going to be a big big ask. When you're on a run of bad form liek they are, it tends to stick around until something drastic changes. If they are still in a poor position come Januray I can't see them makign any big money signings (who would want to come if they look detsined for relegation and they would be reluctant to spend big money in teh current climate) So I think then next 2 months will determine their fate.
