Handheld Game of the Year: Lumines

Runner Up: GTA:LCS

I have to disagree with both of those awards. Meteos is a much better puzzle game than Lumines and Phoenix Wright, Trauma Center, Kirby: Canvas Curse or Everybodys Golf are much better handheld games than LCS.

EGM is a proper games mag.

I cant remember the last time I enjoyed an Edge or a GamesTM anywhere near as much.

I only buy it for Seanbaby.

The scores for Tales of Legendia are pretty low. Does anyone know what the reviewers who gave the low scores wrote?

Basically, graphics are poor, combat is "press X repeatedly", puzzles are contrived, and the whole game is a step backwards in the series.

The best thing in the issue is the anti-piracy ad on the page next to the Full Auto review. Especially the fact that the poor fucker whose crimes (selling those Famiclone consoles) and punishments (60 months in jail, property and money seized, deportation to Israel after jails sentence served) are listed had to pay for it himself.

Talk about kicking a man in the bollocks when he's down.

Yeah, I love EGM. Have done ever since I was a kid and they'd bring out those mega 300 page anthems. They were like early Metallica songs. Fresh, and they seemed to go on forever.

The mag changed after they became part of Ziff Davis, and they always played second fiddle to the now defunct but unsurpassed GameFan, but it's still a great read. Especially since it's all NTSC coverage, and none of that PAL junk. :o

I just wish I could get hold of it more easily in mainland Europe.

I always thought these Age of Empires games were written by Microsoft...

It's second party a bit like PGR and bizarre isn't it? The writters are something begining with e can't remember now.

Age of Empires DS looked great on the 1up show. I'm really looking forward to it. I can't believe she said in some ways it's superior to advance wars.

Ah. I think I had a vague idea / memory that the developer was bought my Microsoft long ago.

Sounds like a great DS product. I'm surprised that there haven't been more mouse-only type games adapted to the DS. I guess the DS just isn't on the radar of the typical PC developer.

Ensemble Studios, isn't it? And I thought Microsoft added them to their in-house teams, too.

Sadly, I live in France, and can't subscribe to my region. Believe me, I did try. So I get foreign relatives to sporadically send me random copies, or pick it up when I travel to large airports/trainstations/etc.

I do rather look forward to these EGM score topics though, just to keep up to date on what America is up to.
