fucking cheating kraut. I hope they not only delete his time, but also put him to the back of the grid. Did you watch the slo-mo replay? He made sure he didn't damage the car and purposly parked the car there. Cunt.

He's a cheating bastard at times alright - but I can't help but admire how he thinks of these things. Because I bet no other driver would have ever imagined doing the same thing to protect their time. And not just because they are all sweeter than sugar when it comes to being honest.

I don't think it actually breaks any rules even if you could prove he 'parked it' (though stewards are 'reviewing the incident'), and indeed it would be hard to argue with "He'd had 20 minutes to make as many attempts he liked, shouldn't have left it till the last second...".

Senna did the same thing in qualifying at a French GP if memory serves me correctly. He never had enough time to get back to the pits for new tyres for a last-gasp lap, so he stopped on the track on the racing line bringing out a red flag. He then drove back to the pits under the red, changed his tyres and waited for the restart. This gave him just enough time to complete his outlap and he snatched pole on his final attempt.

Schumacher really has been caught bang-to-rights with this one. He was miles off line and like Anthony Davidson said on 5 Live, if you make a genuine mistake in that corner, you'd have been going so fast you'd have twatted the wall. There's no way you could have been going that slow if you were genuinely on it. And if you weren't on it, there's no way you could have gone off in that manner.

Fact is, Alonso was something like 2 tenths up on the final pole time when he hit the yellow flags covering the incident and Raikkonen was going very fast too. He purposefully blocked the qualifying laps of at least two competitors and if Villeneuve's blocking of Fisichella a couple of races ago is anything to go by, he should be docked his best three qualifying laps at least.

i thought it was blatent the first time i saw it. if he gets away with it the stewards should be shot!

good idea, just badly excecuted! he should have at least broke the front wing to make it look real

That's what I was thinking as soon as I saw it - just nudge the wing or the left wheel. The least damage to enable the car to be rebuilt and still feel "right".

Reminds me of that time Mansell had that huge blow out when going for the world championship. He steered his car off the track to safety, but as was pointed out to him - if he had stayed on the racing line the race may well have been red flagged and with only a couple of laps (ish) to go it might not have been restarted. Thus keeping him in first place and winning the championship.

You just know the Senna's and Schumachers of this world would have thought of doing just that.

edit: it pisses me off how Briatore was one of the first to cry like a bitch about it though. How many times did Benetton get mixed up in controversy when he and Schumacher were both there?

I guess he did get caught red handed for this and so justice had to be seen to be done.

Slightly different, but during the Barcelona grand prix, Montoyas incident should have been a pace car - but I am convinced they avoided that on purpose because it would have allowed Schumacher to catch Alonso on home soil. So it's a bit annoying how things can be "worked" when they want them to be.

He can't get the car to work. I loved the way he stormed off for a crisis meeting with the team whilst Rubens posts the 5th fastest time. He got away with it when they were both dog slow and engines were blowing all over the place, but when your car is nowhere near the pace of your team mate, the only crisis is in your own head. He chose his setup, now he has to live with it.

Rumour has it the decision was made by the telementry provided by the team, at the time I didn't think it had been done deliberately, this appears to suggest otherwise.

A leopard never changes it's spots so it would seem. Fair play to Villeneuve, he's been on the recieving end of the dirty cheats tactics before.

Shumi parks the car

My grandmother could have steered the car through that corner.

Fuck me, seeing that angle that's the dirtiest piece of driving I've seen in quite some time. Filthy bastard.

I'm correct in assuming that the concorde agreement has been signed up now until 2008?, surely it's a choice opportunity to be all over ferrari like a bitch?.

:( Schumacher, proving once again he's the only person that makes this shit worth watching. As a sportsman his need to win borders on psychotic (I'm convinced this is his last year and he had to win Monaco one more time) but he's the leading man in something that's not a sport (no women?) but a piece of pure theatre, over the years he's provided so many moments, many through his unparalleled skill but also bits you can't write - crying in the press conference, storming off after Coulthard at Spa, and more jaw dropping moments like this. He probably should be kicked out, but he'll always be worth 10 of anyone else.

I'd go along with that. Senna was exactly the same if not more so, fuck knows what might have been..... :(

He's a F-ing cheating little German shit, and in my eyes isn't recognized for anything else. He stopped Damon Hill winning another title, and yesterday he fucked up Alonso's chance of poll.

It's just disappointing the punishment took that form, effectively removing most of the potential for excitement from todays race :( Schuey V Alonso has been the only point worth caring about all season, bar when Button occasionally manages to put a decent race together.
