all the interest will be in wether the mods that ferrari are bringing (& shouting from the rooftops about) actually make any difference.

anyone pick up this months f1 racing? great pic of schu & massa having dinner outside the ferrari motorhome, different tables, massa with his back turned. they recon that massa was asked to go slow (in malaysia) so that schu could pass him. but he didnt... expect fireworks in the coming months. i wouldnt bet against a coming together for the ferrari's before long.

kimi for the win - we need him to claw some points back sooner rather than later or alonso will have the thing won by the US GP.

button second (onlyif its hot & there are no SC's - if its cool, forget it - 5th place) & (a recurring theme in my terrible predictions) an alonso DNF. maybe a bit of first lap bump & grind will see him in the kitty litter. i dont have anything against him, but id like to see that gap closed up a bit at the top before it becomes too big.

hows about a first podium for rosberg...? id put montoya on the podium as well if its cool & those honda's struggle with tyre temp again.

Rosebergs back on a GP2 track isn't he.

Hmm I wouldn't bet agains a podium. Have the Williams changed their engies for this race, or are they on the Oz engines still ? New engines could be pole and fastest lap territory.

That Renault has looked bullet proof so far. Alonso for the win, kimi second again. The Mclaren still looks to be a touch unreliable, even with 2000 miles of testing in the last 3 weeks.

Im backing Kimi FTW this weekend (see what i did there  )

I think the win is between Kimi, Alonso, Fisi and Montoya

Podium's could be on the cards for Button, MSC, Either Williams driver.

That old chesnut Villenueve might score a few points again as well

Fisi is my bet of the weekend. New engine in the Renault too. Point to prove, mainly down to if his team mess him about as per usual!

I really hope Shu takes the win, but I don't think its likely.

Would like to see Roseberg on the podium too.

I like the San Marino track but its always a sad occasion

It was a great track. Not the spectacle of awesomness it once was though.

but dc used to win the occasional race...

In a championship winning car (or at least a contender)

Except 1997 where he won a couple (mainly due to the number of cars that fell off in Melbourne, and via an excellent pitstop in Monza)

Im a bit biased because I dont like DC, and never have. He's very arrogant, and in fact he is everything that people accuse Michael Schumacher of being...

I'd like to see Button win, but he is quickly becoming the new DC.

And I really hate DC.

DC is actually a very good driver and has gave up a few race wins in his time on team orders, mostly to the benifit of Hakkinen. Button however is overrated and will not win a race this year.

id take that bet

I don't think Button can win a race, without the front runners hitting trouble.

the Renault is the complete package at the moment and the drivers have that car nailed.

Ferrari have Schumacher who will always go for the win, and could drive a dust cast faster than most of the cars at the back of the grid.

Mclaren have Kimi who is balls to the wall fast, Monty is fantastic (when he wants to be).

Nope Button is a consistant, round and round driver. berger, or Patrase (sp) or errrr, Frentzen. I think of hill, and the fact he only won becuase he had the reliability that year and Schmacher got penanlised at Spa.

IF, he could wini a race, then it's either Silverstone or Monaco. Silverstone becuae mansell always said the crowd was worth 5 seconds a lap for him. Monaco because you need to have the consistancy, not the speed. But he lacks the aggression you really need to pass cars at monaco.

Other than that, i look at the tracks and think the car's not got the grunt, control or driver to take the race and win.

He's the next DC. Nice guy, no champion, no wins though.

if (big if that is) they sort out the tyres then he'll be a proper contender. they have the raw pace - just look at his qualifying form. its the same problem mclaren had last year. the car is just too soft on its tyres & doesnt generate the required heat quickly enough. no doubt they'll be crying out for softer compounds from michelin in the coming months.

even without the tyres he could still pick up a win at somewhere like nurburgring where first corner incidents could wipe out the main contenders. since he has the pace to be at the front of the grid at the start, he's less likely to get caught in first corner chaos.

if i had to guess where & when id say monaco. he's better than a patrese or berger. but maybe not a hakkinen & certainly not a schu. he'll have his year, mansell style (in easily the best car) im certain.

I think of hill, and the fact he only won becuase he had the reliability that year and Schmacher got penanlised at Spa.

he owned schu at suzuka tho, when it really mattered...

hill gets a lot of stick, a lot of it unfairly. looking at who else was on the grid back then he was a clear second in raw speed & could give schu (who was bloody miles ahead of the rest) a pasting on his day. reliablity was on his side, but hell you could say the same last year about alonso. like schu back in 96, raik would have won easily last year without his reliablity problems.

I know went there last year, the greatest shithole in history.

gutted.

is it really bad? ive always wanted to go, but hearing that its worse than silverstone for facilities & organisation kind of put me off. still it is damn cheap to go to. maybe next year...

I went to Silverstone last year and its really improved, apart from one thing - not enough screens around the circuit to see whats happening. Its great being there, but you don't have a scooby whos in what position unless you can see a screen (or take a radio).

yep its really bad, facilities are downright shameful, the surrounding forest is one huge piss-pot.

not good.

you must go though,it was an amazing experience,we sat on a hill at in between blanchimont and the bus stop.

the cars were no more than 20ft away,300kph sixth gear=big smile.

thats why my trip to the canadian was such a success. big fat screen right in front of me. perfect.

max, did you get to that vantage point on a general admission? i kind of like to go on a wander on the saturday & see the cars from lot of positions. then get a seat for the race itself, if i can afford it. was wondering if a seat is worth it at somewhere so big & hilly as spa...?

if only the british GP wold go back to brands. you can get a similar closeness round the back of the circuit if your up for the walk. seing 80's f1 cars blast round there was a joy.

Once upon a time there was no question of me missing a GP, but I'm racing myself in the nearly fat class on my minimoto at stretton (it's more entertaining than F1 by a country mile).

Ah well ^_^

typo or self deprecating humour? ;)

Spa is ace. I saw a Group C race, back in 1989. soaking wet, 6 hour race, in the gloom.

However, Blonchmont back in the day when it was flat and open, before the stupid recurving and new busstop was even though about. down by the armco. As big V12 Jag's and C10 Merc ripped past inthe rain at 200mph willlive with me forever.

i went back with my father and some friends last year to see an historic sports and touring car weekend. Spa has not changed at all. There are still no bogs, still no marchels, not facilities. n'owt.

But. Oh it is a beuitiful circuit.

The view standing at the top of Eau Rouge, looking down the hill towards the start finish line and La Source. As a car builds the speed down the hill gettign smaller as it drops the bottom of the valley. Then steps right and left, coming directly at you, then shooting past, trying to stop the back stepping out, scrabberling for grip at the front. Balls to the Wall.

That, gentleman is better than chocolate covered sex, on lesbian Friday when the misses invites her good looking girlfriend back for some "frisky" fun.

If you think your a Petrol head ... you go to spa once.

Well, I'm not quite in the pie eaters (I'm in C's the proper fatties are in D's) we just share the track at the same time. I was doing ok in two races at the last round before some knob tried to pull a move that simply wasn't on. In the last race I was running fine in the middle of the pack till the last corner when the exhaust decided to work loose.

Still don't know where I placed over the weekend. Adds a certain air of mystery to it as we enter the second round......

Anyway, Spa, I'm told you can't really appreciate the track on the TV. And that was before they made it a bit safer.

Ive been to lots of GP's in the last 13 years, and Montreal is by far the best one. In fact, Id say its the best by miles. (is it June yet :) )

That is all :P

I'd imagine if you had the money, a good vantage point in Monaco would beat it.
