You'll be pleased to know that everything is in english.....multiple difficulty levels on all the games and it features 50/60 and aspect ratio options - so you can play just like the arcade and "WIDE" ratios - which i didn't know existed on my Japanese versions.

I can't help but go all warm when i hear the huge opening chord echo's on G-Darius's intro.

Theres a mass of games too....and AFAIK - everything is unlocked from the offset.

Its the joint best gaming collection out there right now - sharing the accolade with Capcom's classics.

The later era'ed games include.....

Fairyland Story

*Legend of Kage

Ki Ki Kai Kai

Kuri Kinton

Syvalion

Bronze Adventure (a nice little platformer)

Nastar (A sequel to Rastan....but not as good IMO)

Raimals - (Think future cars and Pac-man in the style of Arkanoid)

Camel Try (not a sex game......e really nice Ball timer/puzzler)

Don Doko Don (early but basic Bubble Bobble styled one screen platformer)

*Insector X (A Hori bug shump)

*Violence Fight (surprising addictive fighter)

*Football Champ

*Growl (The infamous Runark arcade)

Gun Frontier (a lovely Hori shump)

*Liquid Kids (A FANTASTIC fantasy platformer - Far Better then NZ Story IMO)

Super Space Invaders (Space invaders with cows)

Metal Black (a basic Hori shooter thats adored by some...)

Grid Seeker (Vert shooter where you collect bullets - an early example of the innovative shumps)

Arabian Magic (A Fair scrolling 2D fighter - kinda Streets of Rage but in Arabia)

*Dungeon Magic (lovely Isometric 2D fighter)

*Darius Gaiden (superb update of Darius with great music)

*Elevatior Action returns (rare, expensive and well known Saturn/Arcade game - a lovely platform shooter much like Rolling Thunder)

Cleopatra Fortune (nice Tetris styled puzzler)

*Gekirindan (a solid Vert shooter where you go through different eras

*Puzzle Bobble 2 (nuff' said)

*Space Invaders 95 (the best update of Space Invaders - a totally comical and solid vert shump)

*Ray Storm (another classic....Iso Hori 2D/3D rock hard shoooter with top bosses)

Puchi Carat (nice Breakout puzzle bobble clone)

*D-Garius (one of my all time favorite shumps with bosses that'll blow you away).

Lets hope sales with give Taito a reason to realease a Volume 3 as this masses of classic's unplunded in my Mame vaults.

It does look wonderful, though i hope there is a third in the series too... the lack of Chase HQ sticks out like a sore thumb.

Yet another outlay on the 31st march though, as if Outrun 2 CtC PSP and Xbox, Far Cry 360, Metal Slug 5 Xbox and KOF 2003 Xbox aren't enough...

Doesn't this one have exclusives to the different formats though?

Seem to remember the Bubble Bobble game (That I've annoyingly forgotten the name of right now) was an Xbox exclusive, which is a tad annoying seeing as I don't have an Xbox and it was the game I wanted the most from the collection

Intresting that they bothered to convert Cadash to Xbox pal....and the loss of Bubble Symphony and Gunforce (Rayforce/Layer Section) is a big loss too.

Serious omissions to Ps2 users. From what i read when i was buying the Ps2 Japanese editions (which don't feature the Xbox games either) there's no hint at a 3rd series.

I don't* want to start pissing and moaning, because for the most part, these are good value compilations, but the whole different games on different formats malarky seems like a really cynical "Gotta catch 'em all"-type kick in the nuts for the fans.

Anyway, here's to HD Loader and Xbox hard drives and MAME.

*do

It really sucks donkeys, :)

Whats the point > the few extra sales they might get from people from people buying both versions is hardly going to make then rich.

I dont even have a PS2, so will sorely miss Rayforce and G Darius.

Pu-Li-Ru-La is now missing off that list. I'm sure it's on the import version. :)

(FYI. Pu-Li-Ru-La is a scrolling beat em up with monty python esque overtones.)

You're not missing much mate. It's not a bad game, but why some people think it is so great is beyond me.

The second best side-scrolling beat-'em-up *cough* evar is Vendetta, you don't see many beat-'em-ups with proper boss attack patterns. Crime Fighters was good (and got there earlier, of course), but then Konami went and fucked up (The third time isn't the charm) with Violent Storm.

And the best side-scrolling beat-'em-up is...

RE. Pu.Li.Ru.La - I'd suspect, like G-Darius, its the Ps1 version.

I don't have it anymore but its very similar, and G-darius is exactly the same as the Ps1 edition.

Nethertheless, its a lovely game and highly playable (its basically the Parodius of the scrolling beat em' up).

But it doesn't come close to Liquid Kids.

Pu-Ri-Lu0Ra is included on both versions

Its not on the pal one - unless its hidden (the Jap versions have question marks for hidden versions) - but the menu gives the indication everything is open from the offset.

I defo. have the pal version though - it has the explosiv' loader (and 50/60).

That's interesting, it was definately in the review code I had...

Grrr.. can't find the bugger anywhere, even though the Aussie distributor assures me it came out yesterday. Most of the store staff I talked to either tried to sell me Taito Legends 1, or looked at me like I had some kind of pestilent skin disease. Then again, maybe they're onto something...

Its the same story in The UK, Gamestation are not stocking it as the first game sold poorly, HMV, Virgin, Woolworths. Eplay dont have it either. I looked in 3 Game stores and I found 1 copy stuffed in the a-z section and not on the new release bay. One Game told me that I'd have to order it if I wanted it, despite them having a bay full of dummy boxes. This ones going to be a bitch to find until the distributor dumps the stock becuase nobodys ordered it.
