But this is Rory. He's got himself to play for the next two days and there's no one more dangerous to himself.

He should walk this, and I really want him to, but it's far from over just yet.

It was interesting to hear how many commentators were condemning McIllroy to a career of mediocrity last night. Apparently there's only a handful of players who've ever gone on to great things after crumbling like that.

All he ever needed was the time and experience, I reckon! He needed the experience in order to keep his temperament.

He did that this weekend. Dominated that course. An Absolute joy to watch. Well done lad!

A couple of guys on the radio were talking a bit about a game of golf they were involved in and how crap one of them is. One of them said one of his shots made it a couple of feet past the ladies tee. He was told there is something he would have had to do if he hadn't made it past the ladies tee, according to golf tradition. Something quite rude they couldn't go into on air.

Dare I ask what it is?

Justin Rose potentially about to win his first major, in a rock-hard US Open. Unless Mickelson produces the magic that he keeps managing somehow. 5 times a runner up and never won this one. Or Mahan could still nick it with some miracle stuff.

Rose on for +1, Mahan out of the running... Just Phil needing a birdie on the last to make it go to a playoff. Think I'd be happy with either of these two winning, they both seem like nice guys. Tension!

And it's Rose. First English winner since 1970 apparently, that's a bit special. Feel a bit sorry for Mickelson, such a gent.

Yeah, isn't this his sixth time as runner up or something stupid? Well deserved for Rose though, held it together really well on a rock hard back nine. Almost birdied the 18th which would have been a feat in itself.
