The man is a machine. I stayed up as late as possible last night watching the Sky coverage, and couldn't believe what I was seeing. Tee shots into the crowd, promptly followed by wayward chips to the green and ridiculous 20ft putts. I dozed off before seeing his chip-in later on though, and with the eagle he carded after that, it's looking like it's Tiger's championship to lose.

And this is a man who's in obvious pain after every drive, and hasn't played a professional tournament in over two months. Just incredible.

Yeh I watched the whole thing, was knackered, as I was up equally late on Friday night watching his back 9 magic too!

The eagle putts and chip in were just amazing, I was lying in bed, really tired, almost falling asleep and then suddenly I'm jumping about my room cheering after the putt on the 18th! What a legend, as you say, to do this in so much pain having not played since the Masters shows just how dedicated and stunning he is. I could see him over the next few years play less and less tournaments, and just focus on the Majors. He already plays hardly any compared to the rest of the top ten in the world anyway.

Well that was nervewracking!! Tiger made pretty much his only putt all day, on the 18th to force the playoff with Mediate. I was so nervous watching him play that 18th hole, god knows how he felt!

Bring on the 18 hole playoff tomorrow. :)

Absolutely unbelievable. How does he do it? Striking shots all over the place, from tee to bunker, bunker to rough, and still cards the one birdie needed to force a playoff.

18 more holes tomorrow then. Can't wait.

Absolutely unbelievable. Ridiculous, yet totally inevitable. Best golf tournament for at least 2 years, it was great.

However, 18 hole playoffs can suck my cock. It's a truly terrible idea, I remember Retief's a few years back. No atmosphere, it takes forever and you have to listen to commentators talk shit for basically the whole 4 hours. If it were matchplay i'd be more interesting, but as it is...It just doesn't make any sense. It's totally concievable the match is dead after the front nine - all it'll take is either player to have a Phil style quad (of which there are clearly lots out there) and it'll take the edge off it.

Still, what a man. :)

Yeah totally agree, no atmosphere at all, no filler to show you inbetween shots as players are walking to their balls and nothing else to talk about, like you say if it was matchplay would be a bit more exciting but thats not the answer, just make is a sudden death playoff like normal.

Exactly, Tiger would have won by now if that were the case. :)

I really, honestly don't think there any many (if any) other players who would have made that birdie on 18.

See, I understand the concerns around having another full 18 holes to play - the potential for the loss of tension and drama over such an extended period of time is definitely there.

But right now, on the 16th hole, this is some of the most thrilling golf I've ever had the privilege of seeing. Watching Rocco Mediate fall three shots behind, before clawing back to sit one ahead as it currently stands... electrifying stuff. Woods is playing some absolute honkers, but that's not stopped him from getting this far.

I can barely watch...

I wish I was watching this. I have to make do with reading the text updates on BBC. Sounds like Tiger's got it at the first sudden death hole. Amazing that he can come back from injury and perform so well despite clearly not being quite 100%.

...and it's Tiger's.

Truly remarkable golf. You feel for Rocco, but when you're playing against a guy who can find himself top of the leaderboard after having played some of the worst golf shots in his career, you have to doubt whether you can topple him at all. But it was a joy to watch, every hole.

Unbelievable, one of the most exciting tournaments I've watched for years, tension never dropped once over the 91 holes! :(

Just shows how remarkable Tiger is to win this having not played a full round of golf for 2 months and in the pain that he was. I honestly thought he was going to pull out at one point.

Well done Tiger! You're my hero! :o

Norman to hold on today?

I'm embarrassed to say I haven't watched any of the golf over the first three days, I probably won't see much of the final round either due to the Grand Prix.

Nice to see Harrington has hung in their with his injury, I can't believe the scores outside the top 5! Must have been some crazy conditions.

It was a good fun tournament in the end, despite no one in the top ten really showing up with any 'game'. Totally lacking in drama though at the end, which was a shame. I think the organisers were really really lucky that Greg was there all weekend.
