Go on Scott - lay into him. He'll stick with his Space Marines (and muscles!) games whilst the rest of us have FUN.

sorry - I just can't seem to help myself. I really must seek professional help. :)

Well, it's shit. Should have known better than to trust Nintendo after all the crap they've fed me over the last year.

This was their last chance. My Wii's going on eBay tomorrow.

;)

Finally! Someone else who isn't happy that Nintendo have been feeding us the same old shit for the past 20 years.

Mario, Pokemon, Zelda? Get some new fucking IPs you cash cowing twats.

deKay has the worst taste in games, official.

The Oxford Street queue was well funny. Girls handing out drinks and pizza with so much contempt in their eyes.

Hello mate, was very funny, especially the 'Final Fantasy' guy. ;)

Trust me to get stuck behind him in the queue.....

I just finished the first bee suit level and felt it was a good place to leave it for today.

I'm finding it hard to think of words to describe its brilliance. The controls are perfect, the camera is so far perfect, the game is abstract beyond belief, the msic is wonderous and the characters are cute but not sickeningly so.

Oh, and I love the way that

when you zoom between planets, you can change course if you happen to pass a star on your way.

Things may change when I come to my first truly mind bending puzzle but so far I'm loving it.

Hee Hee....

In the interest of fairness, you absolutely must believe that it's time for all aged franchises to go out of the window - Metal Gear (20+ years), Resident Evil (11!), Final Fantasy (18!), more or less every half-decent sports franchise....Chuck 'em out! Never mind the fact that there've already been more Ratchet & Clank or Jak & Daxter games than there have been 3D Marios, making said series' immediately more tired. Never mind the fact that Mario Galaxy is - by way of undeniable fact - superior to anything currently on PS3 and arguably better than anything which has seen release on Xbox 360. Throw those issues out of the window and ignore games because they have the same characters as certain older ones. Let's also ignore that Nintendo create more new IPs than just about anyone else - the difference is that theirs are solid enough to endure.

I was hoping to just nip in and out at GAME in the bullring, no such luck. Queues it was, even better when people wanted to trade in games and machines ¬_¬. Still the 30 minute wait was worth it for a Nintendo goodie bag full of stuff i haven't look at yet, but will shortly.

As for the game, the intro is great, so much better than the mario sunshine one, the tutorial level is a bit meh and gets in the way but once you start the game properly it's great. The levels (not the actual planets) seem pretty big even at this early stage and some of the graphics are just lovely. Oh and even just two stars in there is some wonderful moments that made me smile.

You're not traditionally much of a Mario fan, are you? Or am I thinking of someone else....

Personally, while I loved Mario 64 & found Sunshine an excellent in places but patchy experience, this is the first one which seems to have captured the brightness and magic of the best of the 2D SMB games.

It gets better and better. I'm now 6 stars in and it seems that every time I jump in one of them man-cannon stars, there'll be a fresh new surprise waiting for me at the other side. It's so delightfully childish (in a good way), it really melts my grumpy old heart. PS3 may be using the power of cell to bring us the next dimension, but Nintendo seems to be the first one to really understand what space is about and that 3D graphics can be used for more than just an extra axis into the screen.

Controls are perfect, camera is good most of the time and it seems the Wii and I will become friends after all.

Got a goodie bag with a poster, unbranded torch keyring, a Galaxy Beanie Hat and a massive white galaxy poncho.

I think we all got the same...except my poster was Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. Pfft. The torch keyring that shoots out the logo was pretty nice, though. I'm sure my mate's kids will like it all, and it makes up for the £34.99 price after they were displaying £32.99 in the same store the other day (I owe you your variables back, moose). Actually, the stickers on the SMG boxes said £39.99. I think their marking up has gone a bit wrong.

And, oh, the game seems polished and lovely looking so far, controls really well but is a bit plodding for the first half hour I've played it. Very moreish though.

Have you noticed the music changes ever so slightly when you hit a launch star? I think the star collecting adds so much to those moments. There's one star where it's like you can see the universe below you, and you're falling towards it, before you arc round and land on a planet. And there's loads of amazing ones later in the game. It's one of the best non-interactive moments in any videogame - most of the times you do it, it's just magical swirling around and seeing the world fall away beneath you.

Yes, the first couple of stars are pretty basic but once it picks up steam....well, so far there's been no looking back. ;)
