Super Mario Galaxy on the way for Wii

I only died once on Rocky Road, I want HARDER levels. I don't even think I'm that good at platformers. I'm in the mid 20s now and I think what I'm missing is any kind of hard vertical platforming. Like the harbour level in Sunshine for exmple. I just did a level like the switch ones from Mario 64 but it still felt too easy. It's a criticism I would level at nearly every major Nintendo release nowadays mind.

So after weeks of really not being fussed one way or another over this, and deciding several times to wait till I've rented it or bought it cheap from the forum, I've ended up buying this.

Now, I'm quite wary of 3d marios as I've never gotten on with them. After a week or two with sunshine I came to the conclusion it was bollocks. The general conclusion these days is that it was - but everyone raved about it at the time. Everyone still raves about Mario 64, but I've never seen the fuss :)

So I've bought it, but I've no idea why. But at least I'm immune to any hype!

.::: Just try to imagine you're Cloud/Squall trying to save Aeris/Rinoa from Sephiroth/Seifer. ;P

Oh come on adam, it's a great time for gaming at the moment. Loads of good or great games out at the moment, it's almost a bit silly...

Definitely. I had a bit of a gaming weekend with my mate a few weekends back. We played Wii Sports (him for the first time), Halo 3, Motorstorm and Bioshock. We both agreed we were happy to be alive when games are this good.

I did one that took about thirty seconds. First underwater level spoiler:

Talk to penguin, dive into water, grab golden shell, being back to penguin. Star.

That's the only bad one I've done so far, no coincidence that it's on a swimming level. Still, at least the reverted to the normal controls for them.

That's not the first one chap :D Either way, I thought the same, but upon trying that level again I discovered something totally new:

don't hand the big penguin the golden shell, instead go to the right side of the big isle with the waterfall and smash the chest. A new warp star will apear and you'll end up having the time of your life once again in a whole new part

:)

Isn't it? It's not the first star on that galaxy, but I'm pretty sure it's the first water galaxy I did.

Oh, like that. You're right then: indeed it isn't the first star (that's what I meant to say), but I also thought of the manta race level as a water galaxy. Though not a true one.

Peach must love me very much. I've received about 50 1-up 'shrooms by now :) Also, Mailtoad has invaded my Wii-mailbox. Filthy spammer :D

Remember the issue of CVG where they reviewed Mario 64, NiGHTS and Quake, and gave them all top marks and said it was the greatest moment in gaming?

That's just like now!

Yep. If you're in the US, it's particularly mad - this, Mass Effect, Uncharted and Rock Band in the space of just over a week.

The third star on Battlerock Galaxy was really good. Some stars are so involved and full of variety that it makes some of the other ones seem a bit disappointing in comparison. This was also the case in the other 2 3-D Mario games but still. I guess at least you're not having toads give away stars for free here, but the

find Luigi from a photograph

stars are pretty meh.

So my ladyfriend said she'd get it for my birthday. She said I'd get it today so I resisted the urge to pick it up at the early launch last night despite having, for a change, the entire evening free.

Now she's just sent me a text saying she's going home now and we can get it tomorrow, even though she knows I'm staying in tonight.

Grounds for murder?

Could you not insist that you both nip to the nearest Wii-stocking supermarket?

Take that trip to Game, buy SMG, don't say anything & let her buy it for you tomorrow then return the second copy as soon as you have a moment to yourself. :)

She'll be wise to that, I think.

The infuriating thing is, I really want it as a present from her. She said she wanted to get me something I really wanted.

I'm just going to have to kill her.
