Super Mario Galaxy on the way for Wii

My daughter's insisting I keep playing, and I'm enjoying it because she's enjoying it, but I'm not getting much out of a second playthrough. There needs to be more difficult stuff to do, it's all too easy now and I haven't found much scope for livening things up. It's nice admiring it all again but its more of a rollercoaster than a playground.

To where?

And if you're on about the extra level which appears where the green luma sends you, it ain't there - and I thought it was only there for Luigi anyway?

I've not finished my second playthrough so I don't know for sure. I'm pretty sure that people earlier in the thread said they could do the new star with both Luigi and Mario, once they'd got 120 stars with Luigi.

Saw the ending last night and my word it's GAY - even my son said the same. Probably OK for girls under 10 I suppose.

Ah, grow up. What were you expecting from a Mario game, Master Chief showing up?

Anyway, last night I finished

Luigi's Purple Coins, on the second run-through with Luigi.

Not as evil as I'd expected it to be, only took about five goes. I'm still dreading the comet stars on Melty Molten galaxy though. They're both absolute cows.

Just grabbed 61 stars and did the last Bowser level. Fantastic game. It really is welded into my Wii at the moment.

And the levels just keep the quality up. Dreadnaught and Melty Molten are fantastic, every level seems to have had so much put into it.

Please Nintendo, give us downloadable galaxies, that would just be aces

Is it possible to break the order of star collecting as in Mario 64, or are you restricted to find the one you choose before each level like in Sunshine?

Mainly like Sunshine, within the galaxies your travel to is altered from star to star so they can't really do the SM64 thing.

I completed this last night on 65 stars! The ending is wonderful. The location of the final showdown with Bowser is stunning, as are the scenes that follow once he's been beaten. This game certainly shows the Wii has a hell of a lot more grunt under the bonnet than has previously been hinted at.

Up until this game, I'd always maintained that for everything they do right, since the N64 days onwards, Nintendo constantly fails in three areas. Boss fights, underwater sections and racing AI. Galaxy has poo-pooed the first two, especially for boss encounters. Each one was memorable, gorgeous to look at, self explanatory, challenging without being too hard or too difficult and most importantly, fun. The bosses were so good in this game as to cause and epiphany for how I view them. Prior to Galaxy, at best I found them redundant, at worst, game breaking. Here, they're the stand out feature of a perfect game.

I've never really got on with most Zelda bosses. They all tick most of the boxes, in that they're pretty and have obvious weaknesses and attack patterns. But more often than not, I've found them frustrating to fight and very few I'd class as fun. As for memorable, the only TP boss I can recall off the top of my head is the SotC rip-off.

While TW is not a AAA game overall, the bosses are tops, so I have to diagree with SPE

In Mario, I have not had to try a boss more than twice to beat it, but that fits with the style of game. The bosses in Zelda are a pinnacle of a dungeon, the bosses in galaxy are a task to complete at the end of a slog of a level, they serve completely different jobs.
