That is probably the reason I'd hold off giving the game a 10. I know there's areas where it can be improved or developed further upon, it doesn't feel like 'the complete package', regardless of how nice it already is.

as far as games go - it's as complete a package as they come. We've been completely spoiled now with SMG.

Nah. I think some things were amazing but barely exploited (like ice-skating or the 'golf' sections) but at least there wasn't many levels with the ray surfing, which was a bit poorly implemented.

I just love the fact that every single galaxy is based on an entirely new concept. It feels like on warioware when you see the level, and then it clicks exactly what you have to do, and just when you start to get comfortable with that gameplay mechanic, you are given an entirely new one to play with. This game has completely spoiled all other games for me, Keep your HD 1080p malarky, its games like this that make gaming worthwhile.

I think they were just nice surprises on top of all the greatness. Put it this way, if it had neither of those - what would you think... and then they add those little extras in just to make it extra special. The ice skating was a complete surprise to me. It really wasn't needed - but was so brilliantly implemented that I spent ages floating around doing fancy skating jumps into space.

The ice skating was needed for certain sections though, particularly timed ones. And wasn't there a race using it? I wouldn't say it was badly underutilised.

I personally would have wanted more of certain ideas and less of others, but thats inevitable in a game of this type. I wish Sweet Sweet Galaxy had been a full galaxy instead of a one-off. Same with Buoy Base or whatever it was called. Certainly I would have been in favour of more of them over Deep Dark Galaxy which I thought was easily the weakest; despite one or two really clever ideas it felt very drab and two of the three stars were basically retreads of past ones but made a bit harder. Not the only instance of it in the game, but it just seemed like a filler galaxy to me. There could also have probably been less races, there were a lot all in all.

For some reason I was under the impression that pretty much all a second player could do as a side kick was collect star bits. A real surprise then when I realised that they can also pin down certain enemies, hold back rolling boulders and twang those green blobby twangy things.

OK veloS, I know you’re a decent gamer but after that quote you have to tell us how many lives you lost during the entire game to show just how gifted you are. You’ll find the number under the date on the file select screen.

last night, bloody hell, its harder than it looks! The lil fella an I died loads :)

This just gets better and better.

The two big surprises for me are how well it controls, i assumed it would be annoying having the controls in 2 parts, i also didnt think it would be easy to sit down and play it but the controls are just spot on. So good that i think its the best control setup i have played a game with - so much more natural than 2 hands on a pad !

The other surprise is how good the music is, it is superb and sounds awesome via the amp. Sound is more important than visuals as a rule for me and i have a pretty decent sound setup, i was expecting this to sound good as i like mario scores as a rule but didnt expect it to sound this good !
