Super Mario Galaxy on the way for Wii

I got this game for my birthday halfway through November and didn't even take it out of the wrapping until Christmas Day because I was pre-occupied with the 360 I'd treated myself to in October. I am an idiot. Galaxy feels perfect, there's just a bajillion ideas bursting at the seams of this game and the music accompanies the action perfectly (and I love the remixes - when I reached my first boss battle, the throwback to 64 made me grin). This really does set the bar for everyone else.

It arrived! Just been playing it for a bit. It's awesome.

I have a slight problem though and that's that I kinda feel a bit dizzy when playing it? Mainly cos I can't see to get the camera where I want/need it. Maybe it's just cos it's early and the planets are really small? But I always seem to be on a plain where I'm upside down but only just, so the camera is kinda hovering at a crazy angle making me feel sick.

Hopefully I get used to it.

I got FOUR stars, woo!

EDIT: Just on that Honey galaxy now! This is more like it, niiiice and big. I take it those early little globe levels are in the minority? I hope so cos it's them that made me feel queeezy.

It does play sometimes a bit like a series of mini games, not that that's a bad thing. In fact it suits my playing habits right now very well. It's like each galaxy is a highly condensed droplet of pure gaming.

Yeah it definitely suits me. I'm gonna drop in for a couple of stars at a time and I reckon it'll last me quite some time.

I had a bit of trouble with it at first too, but seemed to get used to it pretty fast.

Got Super Mario Galaxy on the day of Chrimbo, and fuck me! This is the bestest game ever.

I mean, honestly. It's like it was made by some advanced alien civilisation or summat. Absolutely shockingly stunning and such joyously good fun. Makes me feel upset that it'll be over soon at this rate of play, and everything else ever made will feel so pathetically weak in comparison.

(Oh, I'd say that this game is worth buying a Wii for. Easily.)

Yeah this game is awesome. I just got pissed off with it though, feeding the yumas or whatever they are. Didn't realise you had to be in the right place to start feeding. This one needed 50 so I was shooting them all at him but then realised it was doing nothing because I wasn't stood in the right place. GRR! Took me bloody ages collecting them all.

.::: Yeah, I didn't get the crosshair-bit as well. It seems so arbitrary...

Arbitrary? :o Jeez, you probably haven't fed the Luma's in the Observatory yet then.

The crosshair speeds up the shooting speed of the star bits. Very handy if you have to stick 'em full with 1600 bits.

.::: Ehr... I meant that the game doesn't register feeding star-bits UNLESS the crosshair is used. Which is stupid (as the previously shot bits are lost).

Yeah. The Luma's even look like they're eating them because they react when they hit. But they don't register as having eaten them. It's a small point, and frustrating, but once you know about it I guess it's easy enough to avoid.

I have literally been smiling since I pointed the browser at the disc channel and heard Mario shout "Super Mario Galaxy"!

Except that bit is probably the most embarrassing thing in the whole history of gaming. I have to mute the telly before it happens: it's toe-curlingly horrible.

Thank God the rest of the game is beyond amazing.
