An Edge 7? I swear those muppets haven't got a clue. They must have people who hate the Wii reviewing the games. It's defintely an 8.

i think they are spot on. its pretty (by wii standards) but very dull in the gameplay department. i got bored about half way through as i had seen it all before.

Unlike Halo 3 which is a complete re-imagining of the series, etc.

So, if a game's boring somebody, it's still okay as long as a Halo sequel is derivative? This hitherto unrecognised get-out-of-jail-free card will surely shake reviewing technique to its core.

Am I the only person who liked the "Halo"-esque opening act?

Was quite a welcome little deviation and change of pace for the series...and yes I am a metroid fan who has played every Metroid (since super) to death. well...apart from that DS one...which was balls.

admittedly...I would not of liked the WHOLE game to continue in the linear, densely populated, action orientated style of its first hour or so. But it wasn't crap.....and then the metroid lonely eerieness that we all know and love, can commence...this time a little bit tighter in terms of design.

Its a GREAT game.

When 2 games are reviewed in the same magazine, both are solid sequels but neither change the gameplay to any degree, then someone goes on the internet to bemoan the score and someone else says the score is right because they've played it before and they're bored of the gameplay, I think its valid to point out that the other game reviewed was also similar to its previous incarnation yet wasn't marked as harshly for its lack of innovation.

the opening didn't bother me. I'm glad the rest of the game isn't like that - but it was a nice change of pace and a good introduction to the newcomers. The 'emptiness' once you get to Bryyo makes you feel more exposed if you're used to having space marines around.

Oh, I got the impression he was saying he was bored because it's a boring, seen-it-all-before game, not just because it was familiar.

For the record, I hated the opening because it was like TimeSplitters 2's space levels with a straight face. Just cliche, after cliche, after badly acted, gameplay-interrupting cliche.

"QUICKLY SAMUS, YOU'RE OUR ONLY HOPE. TAKE OFF FOR GREAT JUSTICE!"

that kind of stuff must've lasted about 30 minutes tops.

There was absoloutely nothing wrong with rushing through the ship as it was being attacked.

It only took me 30 minutes or so, but I was getting the same nonsense down on the planet, so it was maybe an hour of sub-TimeSplitters hokum and being prodded about by half-wits. On balance maybe they should've replaced the start of the game with a couple of episodes of Red Dwarf, or maybe this week's Heroes.

I guess I'm just finding all this "serious gamer" stuff very tedious lately. Even Final Fantasy 6 is pushing its luck and Zelda: TP was touch and go for a while. Since I started working again and no longer had 3 consecutive hours to play a game, I'm not sure I've touched either of those.

As I've said before, not playing Halo has probably coloured my Judgement about it but I don't mind the opening sequence. It added a bit of life & personality to the Faceless G.F.S., but soon enough we're back to the classic islolation.

The only thing I did'nt like was that there was a Countdown without a timer while on the first planet. I was just wandering around examining the enviroment when it suddenly dawned that the Aurora unit's "Time to Impact" announcement (which i was tuning out as background noise) was actually getting shorter.

.::: The thing is, it makes the GaFe so... human.

The GaFe was actually a collection of different races at the start, much like in Star Trek. Now it seems the GaFe is just whatever is left of the humans in space.

Which Metroid was this explained in?
