Thats JUST the ship grapple right? or can you go back and further upgrade?

Just the ship grapple.

If you're still stuck after that:

Go to the Chozo Observatory. Use the ship grapple, then go down and fix the circuitry. Use the ship grapple again and then go into morph ball mode and use the bomb slot.

After that, just move to the question marks on your map.

Yeah I've done all that but on the 2nd ? (bomb part) it says I need some kind of data for my ship to carry theronium (whatever) bombs. Either that or it says do you want to drop bomb part 1 so you can pick up this one.

lol

you seriously think this is close to SFA? As much as I enjoyed SFA as a no brainer zelda-lite... this game is excellent.

I'm wandering around Sky Town just now. It's one of the most beautiful environments I've seen in a game.

.::: Nah. :) It's still world of difference. But it is riding the same train of thought, and that's slightly disturbing.

I don't recall much about SFA, mostly the horrible voice acting. I guess they have that in common.

Much as I'd like to gun down anyone who considers 'non linear' the essential feature of a modern classic, regardless of whether or not it's any fun, there's an undeniable appeal in being able to deliberately go somewhere other than that being immediately directed, in a very Zelda-esque fashion of course, but then that's been a feature since Metroid Prime.

For the last couple of nights I've been determined to link Brryo up and it was immensely satisfying to finally do so. Overall I think it lacks the perfect direction of the original 3D title but requiring you to keep five locations in your head and somehow making it feel worthwhile to squeeze every ounce from each location demands respect. All built on very solid foundations - it's a brilliant engine, and the mechanics trump Twilight Princess with ease. I don't see how anyone could fail to love this.

I've just got the spin attack... and I'm now hoplessely addicted. I lost track of time!

It's barely an FPS. It's no more an FPS than Prime or Echoes was. It just makes aiming easier and some of the bosses a bit more interesting.

Who said it was an FPS?

I plan on getting a Wii at Xmas, can anyone tell me if this is as good as Metroid Prime 1? If it's only on par with Prime 2 I'll be disappointed as I found it a lot worse than the first.

Who said it was an FPS?

It is a FPS, hence the view being in first person.

Metroid Prime: 9/10

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes: 9/10

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption: 7/10

I'm about 20%-ish in, and there's not a single aspect of it that's comparatively worse than MP2 so far. Bit of a bummer if what you're saying about lack of morphball puzzles is true. :)

I don't even mind the other hunters, and I was expecting them to be intolerably naff.

You must be doing it in the wrong order. If you go to the map and select the rooms with the question marks you will be told the correct order.

If I remember correctly, you need the multi-missile to get parts 2 and 3. The second part is inside and the third part is outside.

so what does the ship do with the first 'bomb piece'? when it comes in for no2 does it still have no1 attached? or are you supposed to do something with no1?

Still respawning enemies?

And is there a load of that bollucks that makes you jump between bubbles to stay alive?

.::: Oh god, not the respawning-thing again... Why do people have a fascination with completely dead environments?

.::: There are not even a handful of morph ball puzzles and those are 'basic' compared to some of the Echoes stuff. Echoes was difficult and had two too similar sections, but in every other aspect it wipes the floor with Corruption. I guess people really do want their games over easy...

Echoes morphball puzzles were excellent... I'll give you that.

However - it's not that we want our games over easy. Most of us have limited time to dedicate to games. A 20 hours game will easily take me at least 2 weeks to complete. I was games to be enjoyable to play and not become frustrating. I've died quite a few times in Corruption already, particularly during the first proper boss. I've died in hypermode a couple of times... and I've fallen to my death umpteem times.

Where Corruption completely wipes the floor with Echoes and Prime is how it treats you after you've died. Die at a boss and it takes you back to the cut-scene... no returning to the save point. This is a major improvement which would've have made a massive difference to Echoes. Also - beam stacking should've been in the series since day one as well.

The world of Corruption feels more 'alive' than Echoes ever did. I never really clicked with the Ing and Luminoth. The environments of Bryyo and Sky Town are as alien than anything we've seen in the series. The music in Sky Town is fantastic as well. I'm already looking forward to going back there.

... and re-spawning.

I've never ever seen why that was an issue. Every single metroid game has it and it means you're always on your toes. There's always something to fight - sometimes you'll have to flee... but like any metroid, and I expect this one to end up the same, as you become more powerful you can easily take them out. I prefer taking out basts to get my energy and missles etc to smashing crates. Given that metroid games require you to return and re-open areas of the game - if the enemies never ever returned to a room, it'd get very boring.

Any negativity you see on here is because it's taken a direction that die hard Metroid fans don't like - and it's being over criticised because of it. It's an excellent game. Up with the best that's been released this year. It flows well - plays well and looks *astonishing* in places. If you enjoyed Prime - you'll enjoy this.

.::: Well, these are the same criticisms I point at Zelda and people seem to die for that. So I guess everybody just like being told exactly what to do and then to do it, rather than to find it out yourself. My negativity isn't purely based on the fact that it's not hardcore Metroid. Even as a stand-alone product it's rather dumb and unfocused. The only ones that seem to know what they're doing is the art team imo, they've got everything on track (except for Samus' horrible suit-colours).

[edit] Also will people please stop acting like any form of criticism means the game is pure shite? Because it's not.

This isn't always a good thing. You are put back with the same health and ammo that you had previously. On Hypermode difficulty the Gandrayda battle was harder than it should have been because I had lost a lot of health before the fight started. There was no way to backtrack and get more energy.

It's not an unreasonable stance to take. It is a Metroid game after all.

I must be near the end now

I just need the last energy cell from Bryyo. I've gotten to the room and I can see it but I need to air-lift something down from somewhere else. I'ver been playing it on Veteran and with the hint system turned off from the get-go so I've had a little bit of wandering around the world and picking up loads of powerups. I'll provbably find what I need tonight.

I've really enjoyed the game so far, all in all it's been a good Trilogy. Though I get the feeling from everyone who has finished here that the ending is rather dissapointing.

I'm not bothered about the ending (if I ever get there!), I've not played a metroid before but it hardly seems to have a big epic story!? I can't image the other games being any different. Its just an atmospheric game, no real story? Can anyone sum up the story of the previous 2 games to me in one or two paragraphs as I'm quite curious!

Well, you say that but it's a Metroid Prime game. I only know this series through the Primes, never played a 2d one. I mean, if I were to play a 2D one I wouldn't moan because it wasn't like Metroid Prime.

As for it being too easy, well, it's not for me, it's just about right so far. I don't like bosses that take more than two attempts.

This one could have had an excellent story. Although what I'm hoping for is probably not possible. I'm kind of hoping Samus becomes real bad but without knowing it, you know. Starts off as the good guy and ends up as the bad guy. Corrupted, if you will. Through the story and whatnot.

.:::

Prime: Pirates flee Zebes after Samus destroys their Mother Brain, Kraid, Ridley units and even the upgraded Metal-Ridley. They have some metroids left using them as energy-sources and stumble upon Tallon IV where they encounter the substance phazon. They rebuild their Ridley into Meta-Ridley and start harvesting the substance. One of their metroids mutates on the phazon substance and starts modifying itself and retreats back to the impact crater where phazon first hit Tallon IV.

Samus stumbles upon a distress signal from their frigate in orbit around Tallon IV, where things went horribly wrong as well. In exploring Tallon IV, Samus attracts a phazon corruption (the Phazon Suit). After purging Tallon IV of Pirates she takes down the mutated metroid known now as Metroid Prime. In its dying actions it 'pulls' the corruption out of Samus. Samus flees the planet, but Metroid Prime uses Samus' corruption as a new host changing into Dark Samus.

Echoes: Phazon has also struck the planet Aether and torn it into two planets crossing at certain dimensional pockets. A GaFe squad crash-lands there and Samus is send in to investigate. She gets mixed up in the battle between the Luminoth and the Ing and finds herself being hunted down by Dark Samus, who apparently wants the Ing to win. (With hindsight probably to create another Phaaze.) Samus destroys Dark Samus in the end and splices the two worlds together again, allowing the Luminoth their existence. Dark Samus' 'phazon-particles' still remain.

This one could have had an excellent story. Although what I'm hoping for is probably not possible. I'm kind of hoping Samus becomes real bad but without knowing it, you know. Starts off as the good guy and ends up as the bad guy. Corrupted, if you will. Through the story and whatnot.

.::: Retro should've hired you. And everyone else. There's so much more to do with the premise.

I really enjoyed Echoes, but it was the level design that killed it for me in the end - a save point miles from a boss whom I couldn't really be bothered figuring out. That's not good game design. There's difficult and then there's just masochistic. You're out of your mind to suggest Corruption is some kind of hand holding walk in the park compared to most of what's on the market, I'm glad they got the balance right again for the majority of players, there'll always be a few whingers though.
