Metroid Prime: Corruption

I only figured it out this time, but it's really faily logical - you bomb, then you bomb again precisely before the first bome explodes. Then you place a bomb at the highest point of your jump. The second explosion pushes you up in time to hit that one going off. I was chuffed to do it first time after having being led along a very long spider rail which ended in one of these.

.::: Heh, I went passed that and could mentally hear the screams of a thousand players. It was a bit devious to place it there tbh. Though the e.tank in

Bryyo Ice

requires some 'daring' stuff as well.

I found the remote-flick jump more convenient than waiting for the bombs to explode too, though after having it work inconsistently at first, I found the best way to get it work is move the whole remote up rather than flicking the end up & down.

Do you know what's shit? Constantly respawning enemies until you do an objective (AA guns). And that shit boss I did just before it. Jesus. I'm suddenly not enjoying this as much as I was. I just can't be bothered :)

.::: Which one is that?

I can only remember the steambot repairman and that wasn't a challenge.

In Bryyo, where you have to use the grapple lasso and destroy the ammo of the AA guns so your ship can attack the shield.

.::: Ah! Didn't notice that. I was too busy conserving energy at that point. It took me a while to learn to accept hypermode, so I mostly skipped phazon-enabled enemies. :)

If i'm remembering right, i think i pulled off a double-bomb-jump from a flick jump for that one. Certainly did it for some energy tank or missile expansion or other earlier. Was well chuffed when i did that (first try, too, which is amazing considering how long i've taken just trying to do a regular double-bomb before...).

Well I haven't got far in (the second of three generators boss fight down on what I guess to be the first planet) but so far its everything that I don't like about FPS games (with annoying boss fights) rather than everything I like about Metroid games (with annoying boss fights :D).

Metroid is all about lonely exploration isn't it? I know from the Edge review that I'll be getting more of that later but its all been about blasting things so far, whizzing through probably never to be seen again levels ( I like retracking over old ground) and interacting with inane npcs, with the odd crap cut scene.

I love the controls and graphically its the bollocks too but the actual game seems to be suffering from sort of half arsed attempt to second guess its potential gaming audience - all action rather than solitary, scary at times, exploration and fighting.

it gets solitary and scary as soon as you've done the generator thing...

have no fear.

it even gets scary in places - well, certainly one bit that I've just done on Skytown.

TEH METROIDZ

.::: Scary? That was like entering my cosy cottage in the country shouting "I'm home" and having a loving wife hug and kiss me while the kids trample down the stairs.

But each to their own I guess...

FFS Guys!

reading this makes it sound as though this game is awful... Jeez! It's not - it's excellent. It's as though some of you have convinced yourselves not to like it.

Oh - and after playing this. I don't think I could go back to Prime. It'd feel too clunky with the weapon and visor swapping the way it is.

I think the game is great. It's the best game that I've played this year (not that that's saying much I suppose). But the first Metroid Prime is my favourite game ever and I'm a bit disappointed that it doesn't live up to it.

can someone explain to me what is wrong with that bit in Corruption?

Seriously - who was expecting them to be there?

You walk in and you see them in their containers. When you take the energy cell and head back out, you see them moving in the tunnels beneath you. It's not a surprise that they're coming for you.

In the first game, you scan one of them in its container and then it breaks the glass. I shat myself. <_<

as you were CraigMcD... <_<

and Cy - nope, I noticed blobs of phazon all over the place - but didn't expect it. Liked the way the music changed as well and the game put on the back foot for a wee bit.

Did I die? No... I'm playing on normal though. Might've been a different kettle of fish on Veteren - but I can't be bothered with games that are far too hard any more.

I wasn't expecting to see them in skytown at all - I was surprised when I saw the containers... and then when I got the missile upgrade and the power cut, I knew what was about to happen. I thought it was quite well done - a wee surprise in skytown

FFS yourself!

Reading your posts make it sound as if there's nothing wrong with the game at all. It's almost like, you've convinced yourself to like it (no way! you like a Wii game!! <_<) For me, the HUGEST fan of Super Metroid and Metroid Prime, this is a bit disappointing in places. The music, the atmosphere, it just isn't as good. I've explained the things I don't like, but they're not going to stop me playing through it.

It's a good game yes, but no where near the classic status of the earlier games.

I'd love to play Prime with these controls, though I have to say, my aiming arm does ache after playing for a while...

The disintegrating dead bodies weren't a 'dead' give-away? As was the fact that if you scanned them they mentioned being totally drained of life-energy? Are you blind perchance? :(

Do you mean just like the big fuck off Omega Pirate in Prime 1? <_<
