I think I was lvl 4 by the time I went through the first... but, don't worry if you're not even that high - the game balances the difficulty out.

experienced my first true dissappointements with the 360 this evening with my mates up.

Fight Night demo - ok it looks pretty - but it's a bit rubbish to be honest. Lack of impact, lack of 'fun' - all a bit hardcore and bling. It was actually very boring - Rocky was much MUCH better boxing game, why oh why did no one buy that.

anyway - onto PGR3 -

ARGH - no split screen multiplayer. WTF is that all about? I bought a 2nd controller just for this and topspin - and we were denied.

Topspin demo. I'm using a VGA cable - I simply can't play it since the 360 doesn't do PAL-60 in VGA. Wank. We all enjoy topspin on the xbox for some 4 player shenanigans - so very dissappointed.

Also, why oh why can't I just download stuff in the background?

Anyway - it's all still very good. Oblivion is still truly brilliant and I'll be using this as my main DVD player and media adaptor once I've got a TV tuner shoved in my PC.

Right now, the guys are playing Guitar Hero - when I put this, I realised - we're unlikely to get anything like this on the 360. Which is a shame. Come on MS, inclusive family friendly games please. There's always the Wii of course...

You can play splitscreen on PGR3, you just have to create another profile in the dash. Fucking stupid setup.

I bought one of these today too. Randomly, I happened to notice a CEX had opened in Sheffield, so I went in and immediately picked up Donky Konga, which was a tenner, and took it to the counter. After being informed that they didn't have the drums anywhere (and struck with mild 'i want to buy something' syndrome), i was all 'oh well, not to worry. By the way what's wrong with the 360 premium for £240?' The answer was nothing, cash was handed over, and away i skipped (if only - i almost died on the way home with that and a laptop in my bag).

So yeah, a premium and PGR3 for £270. Not too bad. E3 is a powerful and expensive influence.

I definitely think the gameplay has suffered, it's very sluggish and I still think the parrying system is daft.

But Rocky had problems too, you could complete it on single player using just one button.

Switch off > unplug VGA cable > plug in composite cable > start 360 > set it to 60hz > switch off and re-attach VGA cable > enjoy.

Shame it won't make the game any better though.

I hope the original poster bought RR6.

I hope all you punks in this thread bought it as well.

I bought it.

And subsequently returned it as it seemed to be suffering from some form of 'shit game' disease.

I happened to notice a CEX had opened in Sheffield

Is that new then? I noticed it for the first time a few days ago but upon entering I was instantly hit a smell that could only be described as a nauseating combination of sweat and piss. Unless the building was originally occupied by several homeless people before turning into a CEX, that would go some way to explaining things.

at least rocky was fun in 2 player... fight night bored the pants of us, we didn't finish a match.

Well this goes to show how different people see the same game. I had a friend over last saturday - he's got 2 kids now, both 3 and hasn't played games since the PSX and Tekken3.. so I showed him the 360. He was very impressed and we loved Fightnight. It took a few fights to work out a few moves but we had great fun.. I can see how some people would find games different but I cannot see how its boring. Oh well.. opinions are funny things.

And yes.. where are the mods when u have a childish poster like kamrantaz? :)

Well, its not as good as the 1st one is it? He was just being a bit extreme.

Which is like saying Back 2 Skool is not as good as Skool Daze. Who cares? They're both chexcellent!

I agree with Kam on this point.

Ridge > Every Racing game

I also agree with Kam on the fact that XBox gamers have no taste. Sega provided the XBox with lovely games when they were still coming on the Dreamcast high and no bugger bought them.

panzer dragoon orta for a start...

slightly concerned about the hardcore image the available games to buy convey. Kameo tanked, so it's unlikely that anyone will have the cajones to try something similar - Viva Pinata, well, it'll be interesting to see if they can pull it off with their cartoon tie in... but I don't see anything coming with the imagination of Okami or Super Paper Mario or Guitar Hero. This is where the PS3 will still prevail, it's breadth of software. Towards the 'end' of its life - the ps2 is still the best of the available to buy consoles on the street.

My 360 is my media adapter, DVD player and games machine - I figured that there's no point having two like this and with the PS3 being so expensive, it'll be a while before I pick one up... but once games like Guitar Hero start appearing on the PS3, it'll be hard to resist - hopefully by then it'll be a couple of years into its life and come down in price, and hopefully a clear winner in the blu-ray/hd-dvd will be starting to emerge.

anyway - back to oblivion. :)

To be fair to Microsoft, Guitarhero has come out in the last year or so of the PS2 lifecycle when the installed user base is of a size that developers can be more experimental. Singstar, buzz, eyetoy, all these genre breaking games didn't come out in the 1st or second stages of the PS2 existence.

If your a developer producing a game for 1st \2nd year of 360 with a much smaller core market and more "gamer" oriented focus then it makes commercial sense to produce games that hit the "space marine" fps" WWII, Ridge racer, pretty cars, labels. As these product areas fill up with titles then developers will have to be more creative and produce more innovative games in untapped or unfilled genre areas.

I'm not sure its a case of lazy, rather its just safe. I'm sure MS will come out with more innovative titles in the next 18months. Pina whatever its called and the camera accessory hint at what could be coming up. Although its highly unlikely that MS will manage to meet the innovation of Sony and Nintendo unless of course you include xbox live and xobx arcade which seem pretty revolutionary to me??

From what people are saying here the best bet seems to be to get yourself a 360 and Wii for the price of a PS3 and wait and see what happens to the Sony price in the next 18months

I agree - it's taken a long time of total PS2 dominance before we've seen the real genre breakers. The 360 will probably see life more as a Media Center Extender for me. Last night I downloaded xbox connect and had my 360 talking to the PC for music and photos. It works brilliantly. Seamless. I've seen loads of media centres from other manufacturers but none work as well with XP than this... I'm now going to be installing XP MC on the PC, getting a hauppage PVR-500 dual tuner card and probably a linksys media centre extender for the bedroom - and I'll be watching/recording multiple channels, listening to music etc all seamlessley... this is a major part of the appeal of the 360 for me. Now - if I could only store my games on my PC and 'stream' them in some way to receivers in other rooms I'd be a really happy.
