Thanks for letting me know. I look forward to your feedback, I hope you weren't expecting much from the CD though. :(

No probs. Listened to it through and while a bit of it is not to my taste I'll be adding a few to my latest playlists. I don;t think I could identify a single track though :(

I particularly liked track 1, track 5 and track 15.

How's about a tracklist then?

That's me, sorry. My World Cup duties* have curtailed my CD making activities. I'll send it over the next couple of days though.

July is again a month off for the mix club and marks our 2-year anniversary. Again much like last year it would be great if somebody organised an anniversary CD (for last year see here and here). I've provisonally asked acidbearboy to organise it again, although I'd actually prefer somebody different to do it this year. Ill leave it amongst you lot to decide.

Well no-one else has put their name forward, so I will

So what are you doing for the July special then Mr Do?

Everyone gets to choose their favourite Camera Obscura song

Really though, just like last time. Everyone gets to choose their favourite song, from all the CD Mixes they've received from the last year.

I'll start a new thread, and everyone keep their song selection secret for now.

Chris303 your CD is done, and will find it's way into ye olde post box tomorrow. In the mean time, here's the tracklist for you not to look at!

Theme From The Planets Dexter Wansel

The Smurf Tyrone Brunson

Urban Reality Panik Funk

We Almost Lost Detroit Gil Scott Heron

How High (Remix) Redman and Method Man

How Could You Break My Heart Bobby Womack

Oh My Friends You've Been Untrue To Me Demis Roussos

Brazil Democustico

Another Man Barbara Mason

Vertigo / Relight My Fire Dan Hartman

Easy Does It Peggy Lee

Racetrack In France Gil Scott Heron

Murda Rookies DJ Quest (2003 DMC UK Mix Champion)

South Bronx DJ Scott La Rock & KRS One

Wind Parade Donald Byrd

Uno Esta Bobbi Humphrey

Uhuru Ramsey Lewis

It's quite an odd mix I think, but good fun. Some of the tracks are a little choppy at the ends because they're off mixed compilations, but that's itunes for you! I hope you enjoy it.

Feedback on CD received from Rsdio.

Overall I really enjoyed this, particularly when played LOUD. I can’t identify any of the tracks so here are my overall impressions

Track 1 - after an intro the track settles into an Eastern tinged slow beat, not my favourite track

Track 2 – like this although it feels like a rip off of everything from the Stones in the initial riff through the Stooges to Dr John. Therefore I would suggest Primal Scream but that’s only a guess (perhaps not likely given Rsdios thoughts on the latest Scream LP)

Track 3 – a short track, stoner type rock, always agreeable.

Track 4 – this is a fantastic track and I’ve been tearing my hair out trying to identify it. Its basically drumming at its most primeval (think Mo Tucker for example standing up bashing away), with a chugging riff and then every so often a break with itchy-scratchy sounds and high pitched vocal over the top “ah ah ah”. Intriguing Wire / VU / Can / White stripes mix up. I’m sure I’ll kick myself when I find out who this is.

Track 5 – brilliant jump cut from track 4 to a completely different sound , very pleasant vocal and smooth guitar work

Track 6 – back to itchy – scratchy feel, baby brother to track 4, instrumental

Track 7 – a classic post-rock sound. Lovely.

Track 8 - a great slab of HEAVY stuff, sledgehammer like in places but with enough texture to keep it interesting.

Track 9 – complete contrast again which is lovely, reverts to the Eastern tinge of track 1

Track 10 – quite a long track to round off the compilation, slow burning but rouses itself eventually and subsides back again to end things peacefully.

So, the stand out tracks on this are numbers 4, 7 and 8, but it’s a very high quality compilation overall with some nice use of contrast between tracks.

Thanks for the feedback, glad to hear one of my CDs has finally gone down well :). I was expecting to have some luck this month after I saw some of the stuff you put on your CD last time.

1. Don't Drink Poison - Desert Sessions This is from one of my favourite Josh Homme related releases, a lot of the Desert Sessions stuff is hit and miss but I love all of this LP, even the daft tracks.

2. On The Lash - The Icarus Line It's definately one of their more traditional sounding songs but I still really like it for it's pure dirtyness. You should check out some of their other stuff, they can be a lot more daring than this.

's a favourite of mine.

3. Honey Bucket - The Melvins Can't go wrong with The Melvins!

4. My Mind Is A Muffler - Arab On Radar Glad you liked this one, I've debated putting Arab On Radar on mix CDs in the past but figured they probably wouldn't go down too well. The guitar sound is blatantly annoying (though some of their other tracks go a lot further), but it's a sort of annoying I like.

5. Hazy Paradise - Ghost I love this lot. Most of their stuff is more Krautrock-y than this but they do the blissful psychedelic stuff just as well.

6. Structure - Glenn Branca Probably more of a big brother to track 4 in terms of influence, although the twenty years between them makes it seem tame in comparison. It's not the best thing he's ever done but I wanted to avoid sticking a ten minute-er in there which most of his are. You probably know him but he's pretty much the granddaddy of all the no-wave stuff, both Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo played in his group before Sonic Youth started.

7. The Landlord Is Dead - Do Make Say Think Yeah, it's very post-rock by numbers but who cares when people get it so right.

8. Mammoth - Pelican Fitting title for this one :)

9. Maritime - Isis A quiet one by their standards but one of their best I think.

10. Moonbeams - The For Carnation I only do the mixes in iTunes so I was having to adjust the volume up on this one, it is a quiet one in relation to the album it's on but it might have been a bit wrong here. Anyway, this is one of my favourite LPs but it's never had any attention at all, which is a shame. It's the solo project of the singer from Slint.

Hope there's a few things you might want to hunt down, if you want any more MP3s by any of them I'd be happy to upload them somewhere.

On the lash is from Penance Soire which I have :)

Arab on radar I would not have guessed never having heard of them but I obviously need to check the band out.

Ghost - I have a feeling I had a bad experience with them some years ago but this is a lovely track

Glenn Branca - as you say iconic

Thanks again for the CD :D
