while i`ve been enjoying it, I agree it lacks the pure rhythm approach of the first game , due to the mentioned puck action.. maybe that`s why it doesn`t give you the rhythm test at the start this time..

it still gives your timing and reflexes a workout (especially on ping pong) and is more than capable of producing a laugh or 2 every time, I guess the original still holds the crown for the only true "rhythm action" game .

I thought that too at first, and while there isn't the same amount of strict beat counting in this one, the latter stages of the game can be really rhythmically demanding, to the point where I experimented with playing a few of the levels with my eyes closed to stop being distracted by the graphics.

I agree to a certain extent about the sliding motion, but the physical act of tapping the stylus in time to music is surely a more tactile rhythmic method than tapping a button anyway, since it mimics tapping a beat on a drum or even with just one's fingers.

Then again it's not like they can recreate the drum lessons with just the stylus interface... :)

I played up to the end of the third set of games last night.

Absolutley love it. So far it hasn't quite hit the heady heights of the original but it's certainly up there. The games have steadily been getting better and better so I have high hopes for the rest of the game.

I also really like the stylus control. Especially for games like the lizard and table tennis ones, it works perfectly.

It must've been a nightmare on the gba though, how did you control it? Tapping A & B?

Not at all, it was magically simple. Only A was used in most cases. I can't imagine sliding and holding down the stylus having quite the same immediacy, but judging from the comments on here I guess it works wonders.

Official release tomorrow. Tonight's going to be difficult...

For people who don't think the new stylus method is very rhythmic then, well I think you are wrong. The only thing I miss is the two handed rhythmic stuff from the original.

Highlights so far:

Very first level.

Lizards in love.

Stompy mole man.

The chemisty experiment.

The coin flipping mini game.

Sigh, I'm stuck. On the second game, the one with the singing. Clues? Pls?

Press onto the touchpad to stop him singing. Flick upwards to make him scream. Then follow the lead of the other two peeps i.e. short noise, long sustained note all finishing at the same time etc. If you hear a strange noise, flick upwards. Should take a couple of tries to learn the pattern.

Glad I'm making some progress with this one as I cannot get past the space baseball level on the GBA :) I must have the timing of a piece of wood.

I found that hard at first too, but trust me, it'll get much much easier with a bit of practice. I found the black/white ones the hardest in the game, which are kind of similar to the footy. It might be easier not to focus too much on the animation on the footy game and just listen to the music and audio clues.

Trust me, it gets much easier after a few goes.

Has anyone been playing the guitar lessons?

They're okay, but they're no different from the mini game. It's slightly disappointing in comparison to the original's drum lessons. :o

So how do I know what to do...? I'm on the screaming kid stage and although it is making me LOL I have no idea what is going on

The stages usually start with a tutorial.......which gives you an idea of what you need to do. The tutorial continues until you start doing it right and then the main 'game' starts'. You can always skip the tutorial with the button at the top left.

Got the GBA Rhythm Tengoku in the post this morning :o

Where did you order it from? I had a look about recently because I thought it would make a good present for a mate, but the sites I checked were all sold out...
