Did anyone else get the complete soundtrack? Slightly pricey at 52500 Yen, but man, it's 3 CDs full of pure happiness! Also, mine came with a sheet of brilliant RT Gold stickers.

Good grief, are you sure that's right!? That's over 250 of your English pounds. Pre-order cancelled.

Gonna pick this up at some point - glad it comes with the original's soundtrack too.

oopsie, typo. One too many zeroes!

It's kind of odd listening to some of the tracks because the sample rate is obviously much better quality... so the usual hissy fuzzy sound isn't there for better or worse. Neither are the instructional or player inputted sound effects, which seems a bit strange at first!

In fairness, it must be quite hard to translate something like that. But then they probably should have used a different song entirely. And the delivery is so flat and the words so uninspired - it's not nearly as happy or peppy as the Japanese version.

When I first heard the Monkey song it filled me with joy despite the cuteness overload. The US version really misses the mark, it's almost like they merely shoehorned some lyrics in there without much effort. Makes me wonder how sucessful they expect this to be in the West.

Either way, whether they expect it to be successful or not, it simply won't be.

Anyone remotely interested in the series has already played the Japanese version, the sheer idea that they've dubbed over the songs (which is just a waste of time, god forbid they just add some translated subtitles) is enough to turn any fan away from purchasing this.

The English version sounds a bit shit but I bet it was a nightmare to translate the words so they make sense and fit exactly into the rhythm of the song. They should have probably just done a whole new song. No excuse for the flat vocals though.

I wouldn't be so sure about the potential success of the game though. It's sold nearly 2 million in Japan through them using famous musicians to advertise it and Beyonce is doing the commercials in the US. They're really heavily pushing it as part of the Touch Generations series.

Yeah, I was just about to say the same thing. They're nor marketing it at us hardcore types who import Japanese esoterica all the time.

Played this fo ages last night. It certainly lacks the charm of the Japanese version due to the English vocals. Also, I forgot how shit the touchscreen controls can be at times eg. not registering your input even though you blatently did it properly. Tapping the screen is fine but the flicking detection is poor at times. The simple button inputs of the GBA version are far superior.

I found that once I got used to the stylus system I had no problem with respect to controls. Most I of time I would fail due to a lack of rhythm (Damn that black and white one!). I think the only one I don't get along with is the Easter Island stones. Ugh.

I think it is a worthy sequel (the dancing frogs are epic!).

Hmm, it's a bit hard to judge from such an awful video but it doesn't look like the kind of atrocity some folk are making it out to be; and besides, some of the responses here make it sound like Tengoku was only good because of its "charming" and "wacky" nature rather than, y'know, being entertaining to play.

That said, I always preferred the entirely instrumental tunes, especially in the GBA version, like

and
. :)

Well, there's a downloadable DS demo available on the Nintendo Channel. After playing it last night I'll definitely be buying the full game next week!

aside: The DS demo system is a brilliant service, I hope Nintendo make some more extensive use out of it. I suppose it's been superceded by the DSi shop though.
