The game is amazing. The Online racing  The painting and customising of your addictively collected collection  The career :( Time Trials :(.

It's like The Best of Cars - vol 2.

I have a feeling my whole garage is going to be VG icons. :( Dig into Namco's catalogue first.

Damn.....i wish i could draw Cave shmup detail.

I want my cars plasted in Mushimeshama/ESP cover art. Now that WOULD rock.

Sadly i'll have to settle for something i CAN draw.

Like a space invader. Or that Balloon sprite from the C64 programming manual.

I'm trying to finish off all the Proving Ground events before trying anything else, but the last one's a bastard. There's one guy who's much, much faster than the rest of the pack and, though I can come second with ease, I just can't beat him on the second race. (And I only beat him in the first after a crash on the first corner that left him broken and me relatively unscathed.)

Too right. I thought this would be fairly easy to clear but the presence of the Ferrari made it a real pig - you sure get sick of seeing the back end of it. In the end I cracked it with a slightly pimped out Lancia but that was using every trick in the book to get ahead regardless of time penalties, such as cutting in to the hairpins and nudging them off the road.

Apologies for not responding to invites during this session.

Just got a "Tommy" car in career mode which is rather tasty - its just like getting a new weapon in a JRPG - you have to go back and see just how good your new cars are before you can move on.

I've spent so much money upgrading my Charger that it's now got nearly the same amount of points as the Ferrari, but it still pulls away at the start of the race.

I might move on to some other races and come back later, when I've got the cash to turn my Charger into a real monster. (It is possible. Some guy quite near the top of the leaderboards is using a pimped out Charger. I downloaded his setup, but I can't apply any of it as he's got completely different parts to me.)

Here are a couple of my cars after an hour or so messing around.

Pretty simple so far, but when I've got the time I can see the design tool being VERY addictive.

Had a quick scan through the auction house last night. Jesus, have you seen some of the car designs? My eyes, my poor eyes...

^Doc NI getting up the rear of Lilman UK earlier tonight :(

Thanks Meerman for the games

 You're welcome to it, mate.

I just checked the auction house. You can already buy things like a VW Golf 5 GTi with the SS and Swastika logos on it. :(

Yeah, I play it with everything up full. Takes me 4 or 5 goes to win most races, but it feels like I'm really achieving something.

EDIT: Ha, I wrote that whilst on the phone. 'Really achieving something' is a bit grand, but hopefully you get what I mean

Me want....any chance I can gift you a Lancia, and buy it back with the design on? I could probably just copy the idea, but that seems a little cheap...

If anyone is offering designs up for sale, lemme know. I'm crap at the design work, but pretty good at racing, so can help with set-ups, tuning, and selling cars with full reputation...

I'm really not sure I'd ever be able to do it with manual gears, although I'm now switching off the rest of the aids. Customised my first car too - gave the Mazda a Mondrian design - once you start to play around it's surprisingly easy.

I'm so impressed by this, I've been left cold by most other driving games but even though I'm not particularly good (still battling away on the proving grounds) there's a definite sense of progress to it. And you just know that you'll be getting a lot out of it for months. God knows what I'll be like when I pluck up courage to go online, there'll probably be pile-ups galore.

I'm shit, help me please. I just got the game and after my first session I unlocked the semi pro races. I was struggling to win after a bit so bought upgrades, but now it seems my car is not eligible for the race I was in (or any race in the game it seems!). Can I remove some upgrades? Is the trick to apply upgrades without moving up a class or what?

Yep, that's the trick. Try and keep it in the same class without moving up. If you do move up, you'll find that there are cars already in that class that will be much better and you have no hope of being as good as.

Is it true that if you tune it, but then remove all parts they're still not eligible for the factory-spec races? I think I've heard that.

I really want to see that Celtic car, but it's blocked at work. I had thought about doing the badge then one based on the black/gold away strip of a few seasons ago and another based on the disgusting yet awesome black/green/white thing of the Di Canio era. A taxi I saw at lunchtime makes me want to do an Irn Bru one too, everywhere I look now I'm seeing shit I can incorporate into daft looking cars.

Just a question for anyone who knows:

Do Ferraris and other elite cars have ABS, Traction control and Stability management as standard features? ie. if I went and bought one from a showroom.

If so, surely if you turn them off - it doesn't feel as a Ferrari should do?

I don't mind playing with them turned on/off - just wondered.
