There's no guarentee that those spot the difference sections are staying in, and the level design is faithful to the original game. I'm still loving it a hell of a lot more than the last to titles. So there :)

Well, I'd love a kick in the nuts more than a broken glass in the eye, too. :)

That said, if they do come to their sense and remove the spot the difference bits, I'm sure I'll be more likely to get the game when it gets released.

Do you know something we don't Strider? :)

It seems a ludicrous prospect to me, couldn't you just pause the game so you could see the differences?

I just want the original game and some stylus minigames that convey the games atmosphere

There's lots of possibilities for the minigames - like a Yoshi's Touch and Go style freefalling section or a Penguin Wars/Shufflepuck Cafe style section with the different characters

.::: Dear developers,

Please turn Tiki into a cyber-kiwi with a modular suit and turn the game into a Metroid clone.

Thanks,

A Fan

PS: It would be awesome if there were floating walrusses sucking life-energy.

PPS: Just a good version of TNZS is also acceptable.

Played the 'original' on Taito Legends for about two hours last night and found a tonne of secret warps that I'd never seen before.

Such an awesome game that I'll be steering well clear of this remake.

Rastan kicks arse, too. Fucking waaaay harder than I remember, though.

Is anyone going to use the Contact button on their site to ask them why their conversions are so poor?

I tried, but they'd shoehorned some spot the difference mini-game into my email client and redid the graphics so I couldn't tell the foreground text from the background.

They did include my original email client too, albeit in a crippled, broken form.

The bit I don't get is the inclusion of double jump. The majority of the "platforming" sections of TNZS require a very careful use of the small/large jumps and have carefully calibrated platforms to force this. Adding in double jump is just going to break all of that? Other than the balloons and the fact that generally contact with baddies doesn't kill you, the mechanics of the platforming are the most memorable elements of the TNZS experience for me...

To be honest I'd rather see a full on 3D update than a tinkered with 2D version.

Ooh, don't agree there! Whenever you see screenshots like that they're always lies as they don't include the big "nothing" between the screens. Plus, I concentrate on a single screen, I don't want to have to concentrate on multiple screens except in specific circumstances.

In The New Zealand Story they do seem to have some of that, though, as the Spider boss demonstrates.

Well, as you may notice if you cast an eye back through this thread I've slightly toned down my more openly abusive posts.

I sent an email off to any and all of the contact addresses at Rising Star Games today (and I wasn't terribly complementary in it) and a nice chap there was kind enough to reply and over the course of a few emails I've partially come around.

Even though I still think the spot-the-difference thing sounds like it will be an utter mare in practice, so was the hostage escort thing in Dead Rising and I still enjoyed that game despite it.

I've said previously that the other additions sound quite good (so I'm not being a complete about-faced-planty-cunt) so this is back on my "to watch" list.

There, you may now denounce me as a spineless shit.

Go on, enjoy yourselves.

Having only just discovered this thread, the news herewith, the screenshots, the detailed impressions, the disclosure of 'tweaks' that include a double jump and charging weapons, there's not much I can say really.

Apart from, well, I sincerely hope everyone involved with this project never works in the games industry again. Including the FUCKS at Taito.
