Now I'm a bit confused about whether you can get 100%

Based on what people have said and my current percentage, it looks as though you can get 100% regardless of the choices made. If certain missions aren't available due to your choices, then it seems they don't count towards 100%.

I'm a bit concerned now after reading about someone else's experience with I'll Take Her.

Packie still hasn't rung! I have one more mission to do for Ray and thats it, no other story missions. I did I'll Take Her 3 days ago real time, and probably a week ago in game time.

What the whore is going on!?

Well Snow storm finally fell after 8 attempts over 2 days. So easy getting in, but getting out caused me no end of problems, taking it slow and steady = dead, rushing into the corridor = dead. died in the boat twice :P

I did that on my second go. I killed all of the Police and I left in my battered Turismo too, not the boat. Those things dont tend to blow up as easily as the engine is in the back. Nice touch.

Three Leaf Clover was great, I didn't mind dying a few times so I could get to do it again. I almost wanted to keep dying. Who'd want a subway cheat/exploit/whatever to curtail what is, in my opinion, the best part of the game? Grenades + armour + cop carnage = 10/10 scores finally justified.

Very satisfying escape from the 4* rating last night - no fixed plan really but after 10 minutes or so and a number of vehicle swaps I found I was up in South Bohan and on a stretch of unfinished road - joy of joys the circle perimeter was finally visible. So eyes down on the map I failed to notice a solid concrete obstruction which when hit at speed resulted in Nico sailing through the windscreen (always disconcerting in bonnet cam view) and through the perimeter too

. Achievement Get!

I tell you what I worked out last night - housemate and I were lamenting the loss of Ambulance/Fire Truck missions.

I bet they're coming back in the first DLC :P

I hadn't even got round to trying those yet, but I have missed the taxi missions, which could be better than ever in Liberty City.

That last mission is a right sod.

I killed Dimitri, so the last mission for me was chasing down and killing Jimmy Peg. The chase at the beginning is fine - no problems keeping up with the wildly swerving bad guys and dodging the odd bit of traffic. Then there's a bit of cutscene and you're in the firefight. Again, no problem - you can snipe most of the hoods from behind the car, then run forward and pick off the stragglers with the AK. Through the abandoned building, onto the roof, out the back, all fine. Then there's the chase along the beach on a fucking motorbike. Shit handling + driving on sand is a recipe for disaster but I managed to stay on track right up to the ramp at the end, where a deliberately placed barrel sent me bouncing out into the middle of the river. Fair enough, my mistake, retry. Same again, but this time take the ramp a bit slower and dodge the barrel. Ha! A bit of button mashing and I'm up in the helicopter and on the home straight. The on-screen hint appears - "keep low and stay close to Jimmy". Right you are. Oh, wait, what's that, Mr Game? He's got a fucking rocket launcher and it's physically impossible to manoeuvre the chopper out of the way because you've just told me to get as close as possible to him? Right, I'll just restart the whole mission again, shall I?

Frustrating as anything, but it's a real "fuck yeah" moment when you finally get it right. Now I just need to obsessively scour the city for pigeons.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply there are ambulance/firetruck missions in GTA4, cos there aren't.

The bit I figured out was; they're blatantly going to be in the DLC... ;)

The taxi missions are still available, they just made them stupid by making you go to a certain place to start them :P

on "Wrong is right"...

I must have got really lucky as I did if first time last night and it was one of the most entertaining missions I've done up to that point because of the very high speed chase. I was using the Ruiner ('80s Camaro) and the chase lasted ages, with massive speeds tearing down those long straight manhattan streets. I never noticed that the target car was invincible as it wasn;t until very late in the mission I managed to get close enough to know I was hitting with the shooting. The chase ended around central park.

Many of GTA's missions are awesome, but only if you have to only do them once. and what's stated about checkpoints is perfectly valid. even without adding mid-mission checkpoints, that mission could have been improved for the retriers by splitting it up using the same method they've done for lots of other missions and the organiser. you investigate the guy, find he always is at a certain place at a certain time, every day, it pops it into the organiser, and to ignite the next stage, you go to the right place at the right time.

The last mission I did last night was taking out

the biker dude that's dating the mad Russian's daughter

. After the first couple of attempts (on the bike) I assumed that he was invulnerable to bullets, so concentrated on getting to the cut off point where I could take him down. This was unfortunately the point at which

4 of his buddies join up with him, lead me to a park and kill me

.

The next attempt I did I thought I'd just

keep shooting him for the hell of it. He did die, eventually, and before his buddies joined him

. I need to play with this aspect of the game more, but while he was clearly more resilient against abuse than normal gun fodder, alternative outcomes were achievable.

I get the impression that it's scripted to end there, no matter how often you shoot the car.

Yeah, the two times I tried that mission, it finished in roughly the same spot. Got killed by cops just before I could shoot him the first time. Second time, no mistake. His car went up in a fireball.

Just had three attempts at Three Leaf Clover:

I think I was close to getting there. Just need a bloody four door car, but couldn't find one anywhere!! The cops are shooting at me, whilst my two buddies just stand around doing nothing, not even firing back!! As I slumped to the tarmac, dead, I had a thought! I could've stolen a cop car! Doh! Still, hugely enjoyable mission, and I'm looking forward to trying it again.

I shall endeavour to make it my first thought, rather than my last thought next time round. :P

Anyhoo, I've only just bought the combat shotgun off LJ. Wish I'd bought it earlier. Wow, that thing packs a wallop. So fucking fast as well. Used it to surprise a few cops in TLC, in

the subway.

I tried that on the same mission (as soon as everything kicked off) but the doors were locked and Nico seemed to have forgotten how to break windows. I didn't have time to try shooting a window out but I don't imagine it would have worked. Another arbitrary rule-change. Maybe that restriction is lifted once you're actually told to find a car.

It doesn't surprise me that there was a rule change in there, as it was obvious Rockstar wanted to funnel you through a Heat-style shootout in the streets. Stealing a car would've ruined that. It did cross my mind fleetingly, that we could've stolen a car earlier to make a getaway, but there was so much shooting going on, it all seemed a bit hectic. Packie and his mate always seemed to be running ahead anyway.

Can I sell my gun back to LJ? ;)
