My mate was trying for over an hour to do the

Pegorino

mission this evening, failing every time. Furious, he turned off the Xbox to watch the F word on TV only to greeted by the GTA4 advert.

He blew a spleen, I laughed. Good times.

Okay 'Wrong is Right' is the first mission to make me hurl the controller across the room, it really shows up how shitty the mission and driving mechanics are. Why in god's name do i have to drive to this fucker's apartment to check the laptop every fucking time I fail the mission.

Just done a great mission on Aldernay (hopefully this isn't a spoiler). Had to shoot up some blokes in a house...

The chase leading up to the shootout might well be my favourite chase in the game.

Crashing through fences and tearing through people's back gardens, lights going, sirens blaring - proper cop show stuff.

Reading the posts above reminds me how forgettable most GTA missions are. I can only recall a handful from this game, despite completing it just a few days ago. I can't remember much from San Andreas either. Vice City's the exception; it had some really cool missions.

The missions given by the character voiced by James Woods in San Andreas are ace. Prolly 'cause they're so over-the-top. Actually, there's a fair few wild missions that made it more amazing! I only remember the last mission from Vice City, to be honest.

I finished Three Leaf Clover last night and was impressed by it

There was a genuine feeling of, how in the heck am I going to get out of this unscathed. I managed to do it on my 3rd try after my first two were me going rambo style which didn't work very well. The most difficult bit for me was trying to find a car in which I could escape. I was running around the roads for ages looking for anything, but nothing was around. Fortunately, just as the police were starting to close in, I was almost run-over by an SUV, so I nabbed that and off to freedom. What was a bit wierd though is my wanted level dropped from 6 stars to 3 when I got in the car... is this what everyone else found? I imagine it would have been near impossible to escape in a car with 6 stars.

Stuck on 4 leaf clover at present. Are your pals invincible during the street fight? It might help if I could get decent distance to grenades but I can't. Bloody lack of checkpoints.

No not invincible - very easy for you to accidentally kill - but the cop's accuracy and/or damage seems to have been tweaked in such a way that you can stand in the open being shot at from all sides and take surprisingly little damage. Thsi means you can take your time and don't need to rush unless it's to catch up with your AI buddies, who do seem to delight in running ahead at times.

If you are struggling with this, but manage to make it to the final section you may want to consider using Ste Pickford's tactic:

You'll end up making good your escape from the bank by going into the subways, (scripted), and then regain control at the bottom of some stairs leading back out to street level. You'll still have a 4*, (or whatever it is), rating and will need to lose this before you can finally head back to the safehouse. You don't habve to run up the stairs though, you can quitely leave the search zone by heading back down into the subway where the cops never follow.

Yes,

that was the point of going through the subway, no?

That surprises me as I must have shot each of them a couple of times in the head (by accident), only for them to get up again.

Ok, very easy for me to kill accidentally. That was mainly Derrick, right at the beginning, insisting on using cop cars I'd just lobbed grenades at for cover!

Just done a great mission on Aldernay (hopefully this isn't a spoiler). Had to shoot up some blokes in a house, but the cops came in the middle of the shoot out. Not sure if their arrival was scripted (I suspect it was), or was just a natural side effect of the shoot out happening in a suburban area with lots of cops about.

I'm not sure it particularly is scripted, or at least not as strictly as that; I failed it a few times due to cop interference, and then I decided to do the chase and then use my car for cover, not firing back. Hearing the gang shooting at me, three cop cars swarm the scene and start shooting back. I'm crouched behind my car in the middle of a standoff as slowly but surely the cops pick off the guys on the porch before clearing the house and leaving. Once they go I sneak in the back way, kill the shotgun chap up the stairs and make my getaway, having barely lifted a finger.

I'm stuck on a mission called 'No love lost' where you have to get on a motorbike and chase some guy who's dating Faustins daughter. I must have tried about twenty f**kin times to do it, and I just keep crashing the (shit handling) bike. If I don't do it soon I'm going to throw the game, and my 360 out the window, then stamp on them, and then burn them, and then run them over with my car.

ARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!

Any ideas?

Take you're time, don't jump on the brakes. Take corners smoothly.

I think the bikes are great fun

Ride slowly, (ime) the guy you're chasing will slow down and basically wait for you to catch up. I think he's pretty much invincible until you reach the destination.

That's excellent.

It would seem that the cops turning up is scripted, as it happened every attempt I made, and for everyone else who's mentioned it.

It's great that you can use the cops to do all your dirty work in this way.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting it to work, but I figured that you can goad someone into punching you and they get carted off so it was worth a try if the cops are showing up anyway.

It's a bit of a wait though; both sides of the shootout appeared to have the accuracy of a generic Bond villain's lackey.

Do the mision using a

slow vehicle - I did it on a scooter. The chase car is ratcheted down so that unless you destroy your own vehicle you can't lose it, and will stop around central park so that you can shoot the driver. Make sure you've got full health and body armour, as there will be cops there, but they disappear once the target is dead.

You can kill him before he reaches the cut scene but, yes, taking it steady is the way to go.

That fucking kidnapping mission pissed me off so much.

No matter what i did she always made me ram into the side of the road causing the car the flip over. Even when i did it the car still flipped and i was flown from the car into a chain reaction of smashing into other vehicles, but luckly a police car rammed into the back of the flipped wreck and put it the right way up, so i ran back to it before she escaped. When Niko finally knocked the bitch out i was so happy.
