GTA:IV Official Thread

Had a really cool moment the other night playing this.

Was crossing the toll bridge up towards Bohan and as I sometimes do, was driving properly at reasonable speeds with attention to other traffic, not driving into cop cars, etc etc. So I came up to the toll and a police car was stopped in front of me there, I waited a few seconds and he still wasn't moving forward, so I thought to myself "oh I'll just beep the horn as that's what I'd do in real life! " and as soon as I done it, the car started moving the the police man driving raised his hand in an apologetic manner just like you would do when driving a car yourself.

It was genius, and just shows the effort put into the game when you see wee things like this, especially after putting 40 hours into the game and you see this one 5 second thing happen, just puts a smile on your face. :)

Haha, that's well cool. I'm still astonished by the variety of comments made by the people on the street.

And how they actually seem to hold conversations with each other as you walk by. And not just random comments from single people talking to the themselves!

Oh, one thing I thinks brilliant is the guy who stands outside the Bohan safehouse preaching and shouting general nonsense, it's classic!

There's a new thread on GTA4 on Neogaf and they're all pretty much decided that

a ) It's an 8/10 game

B ) It's made everyone lose any respect for gaming journalism they had before.

Oscar worthy story! More like Razzie worthy. "I vant to find out why this man killed a dozen people in the old country. But let me kill 100 others first"

This game just gets better, dont play it for a week or so come back and you fall in love with it all over again. I love how you can do missions different ways to effect the out come. I had one mission i wont say which one where by shooting him made for a hell of a fight to finish but i knifed him walked out like nothing was wrong and it was a piece o cake.

when I'm doing well - the game is great. I like to coast through it and bask in its ambience.

When I hit a difficult mission that takes a while and I need to restart over and over again... I hates it forever.

this has happened with every GTA I've played.... I wish they'd learn.

I'm working through the side missions, and enjoying them, but I'm stuck on one of the Most Wanted missions in Algonquin.

About half way down the list is one where three blokes on motorbikes come zooming out of a passage around Star Junction, then split up. I have to kill them all bit I can't manage it. I can't chase them down, as they split up so I'll always lose one, so I'm trying to shoot them from the car. In about six or seven attempts the best I've managed is to get two down, and chase the escaping third, but too late I realised that the two I'd shot were still alive, so they still got away. Other times I've got two down, and by the time I've made sure they're dead the third has got away. I even tried with Dwayne's goons in the car with me, but they were no help.

I'm sure I'll get it in the end if I keep trying. Just wondering if there's an easier way to do this mission, which I'm missing. Any ideas?

I think I eventually did that one by heading them off before they split up and knocking them off their bikes. You know where they spawn now so just blaze in there with your squad car, tyres squealing.

Or the rocket launcher might work if you can get out of the car fast enough.

Or block off the passage with cars before you trigger the mission, the bikes then cant escape easily.

I only just managed that one first time, thankfully got to the end with a little bit of health. The only tip I can give you is, get better at aiming whilst on the boat. Sorry

Hopefully someone else has a better tip.

P.S. A bit later in that mission, you are given something different to shoot at the boats. So just make sure to get the first few boats, and you'll hit a checkpoint of sorts.

I think the boat thing goes better if you can stay close to the guy you're meant to be following. Make sure you use the assault rifle rather than the smg as well - range is much better and you actually stand a chance of hitting the other boats.

I'll try that thanks, I was just SMGing my way through it. And I was a bit distracted so I the boat got a bit ahead of me before I started following it!

I failed first time, but second time I stayed really close to the boat I was protecting and only had to kill one of the enemy boats, and the rest just melted away / got left behind. Just concentrate on the nearest enemy boat and ignore the others.

If they're delaying the DLC by 6 whole months it's gonna have to be pretty large to justify the amount of time they are putting into it.

I think they've said the move is all about shuffling their portfolio across financial quarters - nothing to do with more dev

Yeah, there's more ped dialogue than any gamer will ever hear during their time with the game. I had 100% completion, 98 hours on the clock, and was goofing around with the Swings Of Death, and a female ped said, "Fuck my love puddle!" and I totally cracked up.

GTA DLC still coming "fall 2008", says MS

MS responds following GTA DLC delay reports

Microsoft has informed CVG that the first DLC episodes for Xbox 360 are still on track for a "fall 2008" release, following earlier reports of a delay.

In a recent statement, Take-Two CEO Ben Feder said that the first of the DLC had been shifted to Q1 of the company's fiscal year 2009.

But that doesn't mean it's out in the calendar year 2009, says MS, who tells us the plan is still to release the first downloadable episode on Xbox in 2008.

"The first of the Xbox 360 exclusive "Grand Theft Auto IV" episodes will be available beginning fall 2008," MS told CVG.

Good news, no doubt, but let the confusion ensue...

What's the car that's like a Mitsubishi Lancer? I've only driven it once but it was real good. It looks like a Ferocci but those are lame so that's why I hadn't driven the Lancer whose name I have forgotten.

Look for a creepy run-down old house, up near the coast. Then look around the back of the shed.
