Steam - There's a sale on

It used to be pretty great with giant discounts, daily rotating offers, even quests to get free games and dlc. With recent sales the deals haven't been so good, they got rid of the daily offers, and the treasure quests have been replaced with trading cards.

I mean to be fair, most of us have already bought up the entire steam store during previous sales. There's not much left to add to the pile of shame.

I'm new to this pc master race, people bang on about this steam summer sale from our God gabe

How good is it?

Give me some good examples?

Or deals should I say

If you the install Enhanced Steam plugin into Chrome it'll show things like historic lowest price and so on so you can see how good a sale price generally is and sites like isthereanydeal.com (which Enhanced Steam links into) can show historic graphs for multiple other sites, and so on. I'd say unless it's 75% off don't bother really unless you're desperate to play right away, it'll always be cheaper elsewhere or even on Steam in general at some point so don't feel you need to buy stuff just because there's a big sale on.

Otherwise you end up asking questions like "why did I buy The Witcher for £7.81 six years ago when, while it was a bargain at the time, I never really played it 'til the other month and in the meantime it was available for 87p at Direct2Drive last September?"

I won the witcher that year the sale game could give out prizes. Think I played it for half an hour or so. Opening cutscene was ok.

I never buy any game now unless I know I will play it the same weekend. It's cheaper to pay full price but only buy things I actually end up playing.

Interesting, but I would say that targeting an open market isn't the answer. The system wouldn't work if credit card companies didn't have almost obscene amounts of power when it comes to issuing chargebacks.

Most sites that are an open market have anti-money laundering safeguards though, in fact they're required to under US and EU law. G2A are breaking these because they operate out of Hong Kong. Credit cards don't come into this as being a problem at all, other than "people can steal them".

There's absolutely no reason anyone would be selling hundreds or even a dozen copies of a game privately, G2A fully know what they're doing.

does it gradually add them in the first few mins as currently only 1 thing on my wishlist is on sale!

Also hotline miami 2 went off 75% off sale :( will have to wait for it to be on sale again

EDIT -= or maybe not I think Steam has shat itself ;)

I had a quick look at my wishlist a few minutes after six, and thought on the basis of what appeared to be on sale that I might escape this steam sale unscathed.  Quite a few more things have gradually started appearing as discounted since then though.  I don't fancy my chances.

I threw my money at some Rocket League DLC, and it shows up in my library.. but I never got a digital receipt, and it still shows in my cart under "working.." status.

And now I can't even sign into the steam client.. so I guess I give up for now too.
