Added Doom, This War of Mine and Hyperlight Drifter to my favourites list for later, as trying to buy them now probably wont work.

Don't think there's much else I fancy really. Maybe Talos Principle but that's about it I think.

Edit: new cards also not showing in inventory. In fact my inventory is empty it seems.

I'm trying in vain to buy Space Hulk Ascension.  It isn't happening.  While I've been waiting for it to go through I've checked this thread and people have mentioned three other games I want (need?) but didn't realise were on sale.

I've added the First-Person Puzzle Bundle to the cart (Portal 2, Talos Principle, SUPERHOT, The Witness and Vanishing of Ethan Carter) for £47. SUPERHOT and The Witness are just 20% off, the others are 75/80% off. I don't think they'll change much, but is it worthwhile hanging on?

2.99 is a bit of a sweet spot insta buy for me currently 4 in my cart

Torchlight 2

Ethan Carter

Gone Home

Hotline Miami 2

2 of those being walking simulators where I don't mind spending a fewquid to play them... the others are just games i never got rounf to getting

Also got Talos Principle and Invisible Inc in my cart.

Just try to decide on others. Black mesa? hmmmm Day of the tentacle? It'll be 2.99 one day :) probably before I get chance to play it if I bought it now. Ark? sounds fun but havent given 7daystodie enough time yet! Steam Link very tempted! Life is strange seems good value but its not 2.99 :)

Steam Link + Controller now looks to be more of a bargain. When they knocked 30% off the other month they were £27.99 each plus £7.40 delivery each making them effectively cost £35.39 apiece. It's the same now but this time there's also bundle option with another 10% off and the postage is a reduced £10.10 when buying both together, a bit more palatable overall. Price differences for purchasing the pair:

Off sale: £94.78 (£39.99+£39.99+£7.40+£7.40)

Individual on sale recently: £70.78 (£27.99+£27.99+£7.40+£7.40)

Individual on sale now: £66.08 (£27.99+£27.99+£10.10)

Bundle on sale: £60.48 (£50.38+£10.10)

edit: just checked again and they've used the £10.10 postage when you buy both now no matter how you do it, so they've changed that since last time.

I fucking hate steam.

Go to sign in on my tablet, needs the code. Takes 25 mins to arrive in my email.

Finally arrives, go to sell my trading cards. Can't because I don't have the authenticator installed on my phone.

Install the authentication on my phone. Needs the email code. Takes 20 mins to arrive.

Can't activate authenticator without  a text to my mobile phone. I don't have the old number any more.

Go to change my number, can't since I don't have the old one anymore. Have to contact steam support.

Go to login, details don't work. Request password reset. Takes 30 mins to arrive.

Seriously. What a fucking joke.

Got a reply. To remove my old number from the account, I need to confirm:

Name

Address

Previous Address on account.

Card type & 4 last digits on it.

Papal account that I used to use.

Everything's going to be alright then :) I understand it's frustrating, but it's never a good idea to keep an old number (one you don't have access to even) on an account and then try to add two-factor using a second number. As dumb as Steam can be, you can't really blame this on Valve...

Anyway, Steam Sales deliver! Got this lovely bunch to add to my pile of shame:

Final Fantasy III
Sniper Elite 3
Dying Light The Following
Shadowrun: Hong Kong - Extended Edition
Firewatch
Way of the Samurai 4

I had my eye on those last four games for a really long time, but I couldn't resist also getting the first two because sales.

Duder, any idea how I can get The Following and have my base game upgraded to the Enhanced Edition as well? Or maybe it already is and came free as a simple patch? Help a brotha out!

The naming of both titles is hell of confusing. I already had the base game and that one was upgraded to the enhanced edition for free. As was yours. If you also want the Following DLC, you will have to buy either the season pass or the DLC by itself. I recommend the DLC by itself as the rest of the season pass isn't up to much from what I've read.

The confusion comes from the basegame now being named 'Dying Light: The Following Enhanced Edition' on Steam. I already owned the basegame, so after the free upgrade a few months back I now own 'Dying Light: The Following Enhanced Edition'. This, however, does NOT include the 'Dying Light: The Following' - which is how they named the DLC. Yes, 'Dying Light: The Following Enhanced Edition' is a different product from 'Dying Light: The Following'

HOWEVER

A friend of mine who tried to buy both the game and the DLC yesterday, noticed that 'Dying Light: The Following Enhanced Edition' includes 'Dying Light: The Following'(the DLC) if you buy it right now brand new. No need to buy it separately! This does not apply if you already owned the basegame *before* the free upgrade to the Enhanced Edition.

To summarize:

-'Dying Light: The Following Enhanced Edition' (the game) is a different product from 'Dying Light: The Following' (the DLC)

-But 'Dying Light: The Following Enhanced Edition' includes the DLC, so no need to buy it separately

-if you already owned Dying Light before it became the enhanced edition, you did NOT get the DLC for free. You'll need to buy 'Dying Light: The Following' (the DLC) which is now 10 euros in the sale

-avoid the season pass, not worth the extra five euros

-if you already have Dying Light installed, then it's already 'enhanced'. It's just a patch, it has been applied automatically.

Blimey.

Right so here's what I'm gonna' do. I'll install regular Dying Light to see if it does in fact enhance my package (wink wink nudge nudge) and if so I'll get The Following asap! Because right now when I go over to DLC page it says:

Downloadable Content

This content requires the base game Dying Light: The Following - Enhanced Edition on Steam in order to play.

Anyway cheers for the info Gerbik! Maybe we can team up in the DLC? :)

I'm not sure it's quite that complicated. The Enhanced Edition is a free upgrade/patch and The Following is a piece of DLC. That's all there is to it really.

It is a bit complicated if you already owned the game and a friend doesn't. I was giving him all kinds of wrong advice because on my store page it said that I already owned 'Dying Light: The Following Enhanced Edition' but not 'Dying Light: The Following'. So he wasn't sure what to buy as the title of both products are a bit confusing. It's exactly as you say it is, but it's not clear from how they named everything. Hency my explanation above, because 'Dying Light: The Following Enhanced Edition' apparently *does* include the DLC. But not if you already bought it and was upgraded, despite there being only one product page. So you end up at the page for 'Dying Light: The Following Enhanced Edition' either way.

I bought the original game at launch and if I ever get around to actually starting it, then sure why not  But at the moment I'm determined to 100% The Witcher 3, I love that game to bits and I'll be damned if it ends up unfinished like so many games in my steam library. For the Witcher I've decided to prioritize!*

*the why did I buy 6 new games? Because sales!

Steam's being weird.

I thought it was about time I played Dishonoured (I know, I know) so re-downloaded it. It got to the end and told me there was a disk error and wouldn't do anything further (it seemed to be pending an update that doesn't actually exist).

Bit of rootling around shows there were some folders left from the uninstall that happened ages ago, and now it can't move the game from the download folder to the actual Common Steamapps folder. A manual move didn't help it either and now it's downloading the whole 6Gb of files again (even though they were right there!)

edit: the reinstall fixed it.

So I tried to sell a duplicate summer sale card for 6p, and it tells me some bullshit about how it won't list the item for 15 days because I haven't got "Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator"... which is an app for Android and iOS apparently. Fucksake. So I'm supposed to install an app on my phone so I can do some double-triple-quadruple-factor authentication bollocks, just to sell a piece of digital nothingness for 6 pence.
