I loved the old arena shooters back in the day, and I was good, but these days I am old and failing and do not have the patience for "high skill ceiling('s)" which is something almost every user review of Reflex mentions.  VN1X and PK, tell me, how would an impatient old man cope? Because I sure as hell love the look of it.

Quite happy with my purchases:

  • Aces Wild: Manic Brawling Action! Came across this in my queue and thought it looked interesting. It's a 2D beat em up with a focus on aerial combat and combos. It also has amazing music. Only €2,50.
  • Dariusburst: Chronicle Saviours. Been wanting this for a while. It's quite expensive, even with 30% discount: €32,19. But it's really cool and it has loads of replay value so I figured why not.
  • Momodora: Reverie under the moonlight. I hadn't heard of this game before, which is weird because I love metroidvania type games. The graphics are really cute and the combat seems solid. Only 20% discount but €7,99 seems like a good price for it.
  • Space Channel 5 Part 2. One of my favourite DC games. Never bought it on PC because I thought it didn't include the japanese voices and I'm used to those. But it does. So I bought it. For €1,99 :).
  • Samurai Warriors 4-II. Only 50% discount, but I really wanted to play a Warriors type game and this one seemed the best choice. So far it's been really enjoyable.

I also bought Soma, One Piece Pirate Warriors and Strania but I chose to get refunds for them. Soma is just too scary really, One Piece didn't really click with me, despite loving the anime and Strania just seemed too hardcore for me.

I bought SOMA too. Fuck, it's bastard scary.

So far:

Skyrim Hearthfire: DLC I likely won't play to get a game in the future I might possibly play in the future+n. This feels like next level steam sales.

Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight: I've seen a number of positive mentions on GAF, looks interesting so I now appear to own it.

Red Alert 3: Woke up feeling like some old school RTS which means C&C, also war bears. Now to find five others to lug their PC to someone's house for a LAN like in ye olde days, when boys where men and they wrestled with CRT behemoths.

Will likely get Mad Max on Bundle Stars as it's cheaper, get some practice for the Boris/Trump future.

Oh even though I'm 1337 as fuck I'd never play this with random people. :P

Private matches are where it's at for me! Should be fun if we get some more people on (so PK doesn't get shot in the face over and over again).

Steam sale has piqued my interest again too. Though I don't play on my computer as much as I should.

Games added to my backlog -

Alice: Madness returns

Brothers: A tale of two sons

Command and conquer 3 - tiberium war

Dead state

This war of mine

Life is strange

All games that generally are though of very highly within their genres. So all on download and will get one going this evening :D

Any recommendations?

A few off the top of my head would be Sheltered, Orgon Trail, Interstellaria, FTL and Kingdom. Out those FTL and Kingdom are must plays.

Any recommendations of colourful/cheerful (i just mean something other than realistic, dark, "mature" or gritty)] games on steam?

Currently have sonic generations/racing transformed, Nights, freedom planet, Crazy Taxi, a few lego games..

I love nintendo games and sega arcade 3d games. I'm sure steam has lots of good non-grim games but i find the number of games on steam overwhelming.

Not interested in 2d indie roguelikes, metroidvanias, faux 8 bit pixel graphics, procedurally generated crafting and survival first person games.

"stories" , the game that was mentioned on the previous page looks promising, a colourful game with high production values.

I really hate the sale this year it's so... boring and stale. No more daily deals means I've just stopped checking back finding stuff by accident and the lack of any real game/goal to reach related to cards is depressing. I thought that was a neat thing last year yet this time round it just feels like a normal sale :(

I prefer playing games as opposed to playing some steam sale skinnerbox, so i prefer it this way :)

But there's nothing to really bring people back each day. Last time it was all down to choice you didn't need to do it. Now there's just nothing it's dull.

  • Final Fantasy III
  • Sniper Elite 3
  • Dying Light The Following ROW
  • Shadowrun: Hong Kong - Extended Edition
  • Firewatch
  • Way of the Samurai 4
  • SOMA
  • The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky
  • Dex
  • Salt and Sanctuary
  • Day of the Tentacle Remastered

These sales have been good to me but now I have to stahp :D

There's really no need for new games anyway since I'm mostly playing the Witcher 3 atm and inbetween exploring Skellige I managed to finish Super Mario Sunshine on Dolphin  Still, Steam Library +11 - level up!

I've only bought Subnautica and Valkyria Chronicles. I've been playing nothing but the former since I bought it and am loving the laid-back pace of exploration and discovery so far. I do also want a handful of other games but I've probably got a month or two of solid gaming there so far, so will have to see.

there are some other games for sure i want but no chance i'll play till at least xmas so i think i am best of waiting for them to drop further.

The last several sales have all been pretty shit. Only got the steam controller so far in this one. Might pick up The Long Dark and South Park though eventually.
