how did you crack the code?:)

Are you accusing me of taking the code without a thank you? Check my games list on my steam profile.. I didn't get it.

And the code was just "KFC", but it was a duplicate by the time I tried it.

That's not what he meant, he probably just didn't know the KFC slogan and was wondering what the missing letters were.

Internet drama resolved! That'll be €60 please.

I was only mocking sarcastically the simplicity of the code. But now I do think you took it without saying thank you. Or maybe it was VN1X. ;):D

There's a joke in there somewhere about Americans and fastfood restaurant slogans.

Just went to sell all these useless trading cards backing up in my inventory. Not done it in a while but christ on a bike, they've made it so tedious! Now you get sent an email and have to click in a link in that every time. Is it really worth it for 4p? I just want to go bang bang bang bang bang all cards on the market.

Inventory Helper is useful but you still have to validate each listing individually now. The 'sell all and auto-accept the going rate' function doesn't work any more.

Worse, if you don't have the Steam mobile authenticator app activated on your phone, you have to wait something like two weeks before your listings become active. Which is long enough for the prices to change, which means they'll probably never actually sell.

The mobile authenticator isn't the worst thing in the world and works fairly well, to be fair. Once you have it set up, it pops up a notification for each trading card you list (which you can do one at a time with one click each, using the 'Quick Sell' option in Inventory Helper) and then it's like two taps on your mobile for each one. It takes the place of all those emails, and the listings go live instantly.

It's all a bit of a ballache really. Still, free money.

The Stanley Parable. Enjoyable couple of hours, I think I've rinsed it though.

Unless you used a guide I bet you didn't get all the endings in that time.

For instance, there's one you can trigger in Stanley's office and at least 2 more in the room outside.

Steam Link - I was hovering over the Add To Cart button (as if my Shopping Cart of Shame wasn't big enough...), but then I realised that my Macbook can happily stream Steam games, and I could connect that to the telly quite easily.  Might I still make good use of a Steam Link, or should I save myself the quids?

Plus you need to spend at least an hour running around trying to

avert the explosion in the control room at the end.

The Adventure Line ftw though. Worth the price of admission alone.

Chaps any idea what kind of download speed I should be getting on a sky internet connection in London? I normally get about 6 to 8 megs on speed test but the fastest ever steam download only reached about 800kbits. What's up with that? Is there a setting I am not aware of? Thanks!

Do the discounts change over the course of the sale?

I've a few games on my wish list where the discount isn't quite enough for me to bite and I'm not sure if they'll change...

Not any more, no, the price is the same throughout.

Have you tried forwarding the relevant ports in your router? link

If that doesn't help - I don't know what the whole internet situation is like in the UK, but over here in Holland the main thing to keep in mind is that the router provided to you by your provider is always shit. All my network issues mysteriously disappeared ever since I swapped my 'official' router from Ziggo (one of the biggest providers over here) for a Netgear R7000. Maybe worth looking into.

I reckon I probably need a new router to be able to change those port settings. the one I have now was provided  by No Man's Sky and request a password to alter configuration which I was never given. I also know fuck all about network settings which is not helping my research. I am stuck with No Man's Sky for another month so probably not worth buying another router until I see what I can get from the new vendor. but I will look into this R7000 business.

In that case I would wait and see how things go with your new provider. In the meantime, forwarding ports is way easier than you think because there's a handy site for that. Just look up the router No Lan Sky gave you, select Steam Client from the list on the page after that (I just noticed there's a full-screen ad, but you can click it away in the upper right corner) and follow the easy to follow steps. Bookmark it for future routers.

About the R7000 - it's an awesome router, but its probably overkill. Almost any decent router is better than whatever providers send their paying customers, so if you do ever decide to exchange it for one you bought yourself you can always ask in the Building PCs subforum for recommendations. And also what you need to do/if it's at all possible with the provider you have at that time.

Oh Steam, you got me again.

I hadn't bought anything, as I've got more than enough to be getting on with right now. I'm currently playing Bioshock 2 on 360 (for the first time, because as I say, I've more than enough to be getting on with right now), and as I don't have the critically acclaimed Minerva's Den, I noted it would be a couple of quid cheaper to rebuy the lot on Steam than for the DLC alone on the Xbox.

Then I remembered I also don't have the DLC for Bioshock Infinite, which was a Games with Gold offering (and a PS+ one - in case I want ALL the copies). I've heard mixed things about it so can take it or leave it, but it's cheaper to buy the lot on Steam than for the DLC alone. And, by buying the Infinite + Season Pass bundle, then the Bioshock Triple Pack, I can get the first Bioshock for just a quid extra. Ah, sure I may as well!

So, in my wrangling to not spend £6.75 on Minerva's Den, I've spent £14.78 on the entire bloody series. Which I already own. I look forward to the forthcoming Xbox sale reducing all the DLC to about £3, but at least I can console myself with the HD remasters that I won't have time to play.
