Steam - There's a sale on

If anyone enjoyed Hockey?, there is now a similar game on Steam called Slapshot. The barrier for entry is a little lower than Hockey?, but the fundamentals are the same (WASD and mouse to swing your stick around). There are some definitely improvements that can be made, but you can see the developer's entire Trello board to see what they are working on.

It's free - give it a whirl if you enjoy sports/hockey games. I have played for just over an hour without really expecting to...

While the game update pages were always functional I'm looking forward to devs being able to have more creative ways of formatting their posts.  I always found myself heading over to reddit or their offical webpages to read about new content updates or whatever.

Someone take Sniper Elite V2, it's great!  Still the best one, I reckon.

I like sniping but haven't played any of the Sniper Elite games. Are they good?

Happy to receive it if it's up for grabs!

Literally anything would be an improvement to how it is now.

There's no real reason to expect a game to get a massive amount more sales than it got supported on Kickstarter and if it didn't fly there, there's no real reason to expect it to anywhere else. If they've not made enough money from the Kickstarter they should have asked for more and cancelled development if they didn't reach that amount.

That said, it's in early access, they've not actually released it yet. The current version isn't much more than an expensive demo.

Wise from your grave and all that, but Formula Fusion just had a massive update. The game is now called Pacer according to their long-overdue KS update. I'd given this up for dead ages ago so this was totally out of the blue. Not sure of the goings-on developer-wise but it looks like the whole thing changed hands but they have retained a lot of the Designers Republic, er, designs and are hoping to fulfil 95% of what was promised. The Steam page should be updated later.

Whether this means the game actually comes out properly is another story.

Sorry if this has been covered, but I'm too lazy to trawl through the thread.

If I own a game on disk, that is on Steam, can I use Steam to get patches?

I fancy reinstalling both the original Dawn of War and Company of Heroes but, last time I did, patching was a pain in the arse. From what I remember, I had to download more than half a dozen patches and install them in the correct order. I just want to click a button and have it update to the latest version.

I think only if the disc has a key you can enter into steam.

Yeah, either the key redeems the Steam version but otherwise just wait until a sale - those old-ass games are usually on sale for a quid or two. That's an acceptable price to avoid the hassle of using a disc like it's 1999.

Already mentioned in the game's dedicated thread, but as this seems to be the catch-all PC game thread: Ubisoft are giving away Assassin's Creeed: Unity free for a week, & donating €500k to Notre-Dame. Not Steam, you access it through UPlay as you'd expect.

Thanks for the heads up... will donate some money to the cause.... Not sure about the AC games though.... this will be the second I have inherited to try in my library... Think I got another when I bought a new SSD drive...

Unity is kind of broken in all sorts of terrible ways, yet it does remain one of the most astonishingly beautiful games you'll ever see! Seeing the crowds in a revolutionary Paris is pretty awesome, and I absolutely applaud the ambition going on in it and just because it's so damn wonderful looking it's worth giving it a bit of time, but you do have to prepare yourself for a whole load of terrible gameplay mechanics, crashes and just plain odd shit going on with a story that never quite makes sense (although that could be said about a lot of the AC games I guess).

Akane is quite lovely, mix of Hotline Miami and Smash TV. It's a bit thin so far, and the super is a bit fiddly but it's very addictive.

+1, very stylish.  Won't last for ever, but you'll feel cool while it does. 8-) Strange (but not bad...) how it ends up being more about manoeuvring and managing stamina/ammo than the actual "fighting"!
