Steam - There's a sale on

I don't really think it's appropriate to post a full post, so here's a comment about a new game that came out today on Steam, Fight Crab.

I don't know if you can tell, but this is a very silly physics-based fighter.  Claw control are twin-stick, and movement is done with the D-Pad (press a direction, crab continually moves that way, double tap to dash). As mentioned on the Steam page, there's 48 weapons, which can also be dual-wielded or held while on the back of a rocket. No, really.

I went into the Versus Mode and played around with the assortment of weapons. For peak efficiency, I picked for both crabs to dual wield revolvers and to fight in their natural habitat, a brightly-coloured children's playpen. naturally, It took me a good time to realise that the LB/RB's normal guard function is replaced with weapon actions, like pulling the trigger.

As I was getting obviously shot to shit by my rival crustacean while attempting to pistol whip to no avail, up popped the 'Hyper Mode Function', so I hit the select button. My crab went super saiyan and the resulting shot came out at the force of a cannon, flipping over our Calappa friend immediately and insta-won the match.

This is the ideal videogame. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.

So, so, so many fantastic games on Steam now, especially now the Japanese studios are here to stay.

I was just messing around with final fantasy viii and couldn't get my controller to work properly, a quick look at the community profiles, import a configuration and it's perfect. Honestly the more time I spend on other stores, especially console game stores, the more I appreciate all the features Valve have provided for us on Steam. Half the games I look at on Nintendo's store don't even have videos to preview and the videos on Sony's store seem lower resolution or something.

I'll admit I'm vary wary of spending money on Nintendo's eshop, they shut down the Wii shop worldwide and have already shut down some Wii U and 3DS regional stores and I have little doubt they will shut them down worldwide in a few years. Will they do the same to the Switch store in the future? I just don't know.

No such worries with Steam.

Not much point to this post except I was just messing with FF viii like I said and the thought just popped into my head "god, I love Steam!"

I bought Gloomhaven yesterday, a really good card-based tactical RPG which is an adaptation of the tabletop game for which there's a thread. They've added online multiplayer to it this month.

It's a lot of fun, I started the tutorial with a cuppa this evening and now somehow it's 2am.  I am shit at it and keep running out of cards but am enjoying it a lot.

So, for some reason which genuinely baffles me, this was a random recommendation on Steams front page

Burn it all to the fucking ground.

Someone linked to this game in another thread on the forum, so it's probably related to that why you are seeing it recommended.

I'd definitely buy this over the physical game. The game is massive and unwieldy and takes up space but all the core mechanics are excellent.

I feel this way about so many board games. I'm just put off by the mountains of stuff that you have to pile up all over the table. I think the first time I felt this was the original Civilization board game which was huge, unwieldy, slow and I don't think we ever finished a game of it. It was at that moment I realised that there's just some things I'd rather be playing on a computer where everything is calculated and immediate.

Gloomhaven has 4 player co-op and there's no stuff at all!

Similar to the Summer event, a “Steam Game Festival: Autumn Edition” begins this evening. These are usually worth a look if there’s a demo of something you’ve been following, or if certain games have slipped under your radar. (E.g: during the summer event I tried things like Ynglet, Haven and Fights in Tight Spaces... :) )

The Steam Game Festival is an event that shines a spotlight on games set to be released within the next six months. From October 7th - 13th, check out upcoming releases, try them out with time-limited demos or short playable experiences, connect with the developers behind the games, and add games to your wishlist for a reminder when they release!

I bought persona 4 in the sega sale last night (had no idea they were involved, but OK).

Logged in this morning to resume the download and was surprised to find I had bought the mega drive version!

So I looked through my library. It seems that for the sale they're putting everything in a classic sega box.

Seemingly at random.

And, in the case of games that originally came out on sega systems...

Sega pretty much own what was Atlus - this happened around 2013, so it would have been a little while after Golden’s release on Vita. :) But they basically get to say that it’s a Sega property now.

Hey handsome,

I'm thinking about getting my brother a game for his birthday. I've put a list of his games he's spent over a hundred hours with below, can anyone give any suggestions? I've previously got him war for the overworld and prey (the good one) which he liked.
