Alright, 50-ish quid for this little lot:

Shin Megami Tensei III Remaster (from Fanatical)

Forklift Extreme

Wrestling Revolution 2D

A Space For The Unbound

Chrono Cross: Radical Dreamers

West of Loathing

I also fucked up by buying two mystery keys and getting dupes. Anybody want a copy of Quake 1?

What's Wrestling Revolution like?

How about a bit of ‘rate by purchases’ before I bite the bullet and purchase them? All bangers right?

If you haven't pulled the trigger yet, I have spare keys for Grim Fandango and Broken Age from bundles which you're welcome to.

It's odd - with the WWF Acclaim vibe I was expecting it to be incredibly janky to play, but it's a heck of a lot better than that. The grape system is more context based like Fire Pro - striking seems a little limited, but hit detection feels better.

Admittedly, I primarily bought it because it was home to one of my favourite video series during the pandemic. The career is very silly, and it's worth the £3 admission in the off-chance you buy steroids from your own boss, get called out as a filthy drug addict and fined in the same show by the same guy, and then get offered steroids by the assistant manager the following day.

I kinda wish I had more money to buy Wrestling Revolution 3D and Wrestling Empire, though. Mdickie's a treasure.

Bargain 1 secured, this may have one of the nicest car handling/surface models I've played in a long time, it just feels gorgeous right from the off

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1005400/Star_Drift_Evolution/

anything I post is Deck compatible as all I play on.

This is just fantastic, anybody who tells you they don't make simple arcade racers with depth of handling anymore hasn't tried it. It puts to shame so many bigger budget games with its handling, vehicle differentiation and surface feel. The ludicrous slides feel so perfect, and even the usually terrible ice tracks in racers feel fantastic. I love it.

Got my eye next on a mashup between Patricks Parabox and Denki Blocks, Jelly Is Sticky - but it's £7.40 so pondering that for a while before committing.

Quite Fancy Rive for a quid too.

Division 2 has been amazing on the deck but a heads up the latest patch this week has some kind of memory leak which results in a crash every 10-15 mins. Hopefully they fix it soon.

Man, this sucks. I've just picked this up, but it completely locks up my deck after 10 mins, all buttons unresponsive, fans kick in 100% then it dies.

Needs sorting. Steam are advertising it as playable and are featuring it in their 100 most played banner on the store, so for it to be doing this is not a good look for a potential new deck owner.

I've had quite a shit week with the deck tbh. Spent loads of time finally setting up heroic, installing Tiny Tina, only to find it wouldn't save, then to be sent down a rabbit hole of trying to fix it, only to eventually give up, to then repurchase Div2 to satiate my looter shooter needs to then be faced with this mess.

That's 5 odd hours of precious game time wasted. Deck is so much better with smaller/older games.

Quick question.

Can you play this fully from a 'chase cam' perspective?  The video suggests an overhead cam too and I am terrible at racing games from anything other than a chase cam perspective.

Thanks

Chase or even in car. Very flexible

Just opened some arenas and it plays like Ivan Strongman with physics and modern controls

I picked up Retrowave for £1.49 yesterday. After Drift Stage ended up in such a mess, I spent a while looking at indie driving games with neon synthwave aesthetics. I was tempted by Outmode for a while, but Retrowave offers a more streamlined package for a cheaper price. There's not much to the game - most of it involves dodging traffic and going for high scores by driving fast and getting bonuses for oncoming/near miss driving (think Burnout) - but they've nailed the look and there are a bunch of unlocks to go for. I'm thinking it could be a nice chill game that I can just throw on at any time. :)

Looking at The Division 2's discussion forums on Steam, this isn't exclusive to the deck.

Ubisoft fucking up their own games isn't new, and the problem is theirs to resolve. Refund and spend your money on developers that treat their games better.

Really nice sale. So far I've picked up:

Another World

Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds

Huntdown (double dip)

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous (the bundle is sooo cheap)

Tales of Vesperia

Ctrl Alt Ego (immersive sim!)

Retrowave

I think that will do for now, unless you guys unearth anything else to tempt me!

I’m happy to use them, others aren’t. You have to assume the devs aren’t going to see any money, so I suppose it depends how much you care. I’ve used Gamivo and Kinguin without issue. There’s a chance the keys from the resellers haven’t been obtained legitimately, which could cause you problems. I’ve never had any issues. I tend to buy games from current bundles, where I’m not interested in the rest of the games enough to buy the full bundle.

Allkeyshop is handy to compare places. It lets you select your intended payment method so you can see the price with fees, too.

If it’s on Steam for only a small amount more, I go the official route.

Soda Crisis looks a bit tasty, 30% off at £5.80

this is very very fluid, super responsive run and gun

it's like Contra & Metal Slug had a modern baby

for some reason it defaults to playing in widescreen with stupid black bars (even if you have your correct screen resolution set, it does that with bars) which you need to change in graphics settings, on the Deck some of the menu text is a little small but nothin ruinous, everything else is all good.

What are the thoughts on the likes of eneba and g2a for Steam keys?

Some things are cheaper on there than in the Steam sales.

They are key resellers, but they are not all created equal. The devs will have seen some money from the country of origin that the reseller has bought the keys from (Argentina and Turkey are the main ones these days I think), but obviously that will often be far less than the UK price.

It's become enough of a problem that a few indie devs have started using Steam's regional pricing, which means those countries are now seeing massive increases due to this practice.

It's an ethical issue, basically.

If you are going to use them, avoid anything run by Kinguin (which includes g2a, Kinguin and I think some others?) as they have a history of selling stolen keys or those purchased with stolen credit cards.

Installing Cryoutilities has completely fixed this for me.

Everyone has it all already, but I'm marvelling at the 96% off the Valve Complete Pack. £5.33 for everything apart from HL: Alyx, quite amazing really.

https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/232/Valve_Complete_Pack/

Yeah, that was the sort of software pack that brought me to Steam in the first place - namely, the ID Super Pack when it had everything up until Rage for like a tenner. Amazing! Incredible!

I now have a billion games.⚰️

the lovely looking Sail Forth has arrived late to the sale with 20% off, for £13

looking like this one may be a title that doesn't get huge discounts yet as only been available on official stores and never keyshops

Its just pretty new. First major sale it's really been in. I'm sure it'll see massive drops in the future.

I’ve settled on:

Bad North

Inertial Drift

Chrono Trigger

Huntdown

Road 96

Another World

£27 for the job lot. Chicory also winking at me suggestively, but I’m gonna save that money for the big 3DS fire sale that we all know is coming in a few days.

the level design isn't the most varied but the character control & weapon customisation are brilliant, not sure I've used something better.

I bought Black Mesa for £7.49 (wanted that for ages to complete my Half-Life collection) and Defense Grid 1 for just £1.74.

Any absolute bangers in the sale? I fancied Dead Space but it’s still a bit steep at £42.
