New Lemonheads album

Some are saying this isn't really The Lemonheads, but what they don't understand is there never really was a Lemonheads, it's always been Evan and whoever's around at the time. But even with this in mind, it would still be nice to have Juliana Hatfield around this time.

Well, it may sound stupid when I say it out loud

Like I'm just jealous of his silver cloud

He's crazy as hell, he drinks diet Coke

He gets his NME's sent by air not boat

I wish I was him

He gets the girls at his feet

With all his cool friends

He gets his records for free

I wish I was him

He has no enemies

I wish I was him

Well, he's got six different flannel shirts

Airwalks not thongs

He even understands the words to Pavement songs

He's got his little fan club and his guitar toys

He loves Smudge and the Beastie Boys

I wish I was him

He gets the girls at his feet

With all his cool friends

He gets his records for free

I wish I was him

He has no enemies

I wish I was him

Well, I feel much better now I've let it all out

'Cause he's got big biceps and a masculine shout

I don't want to sound like I'm being mean

But he plays guitar much faster than me

I wish I was him

He gets the girls at his feet

With all his cool friends

He gets his records for free

I wish I was him

He has no enemies

I wish I was him

[spoken: Y'know he even knows the guys from Dinosaur Jr.

And he played on the first Blake Babies Album, how awesome

And you know that black stripey shirt he's got?

Well, I've got the same one, except it's red, but it's the same, y'know what I mean]

I wish I was him

He gets the girls at his feet

With all his cool friends

He gets his records for free

I wish I was him

He has no enemies

I wish I was him

I wish I was him

Really looking forward to this album. Every album he's made has at least a couple of great songs on it. And yeah, that Ben Lee song was about Evan :(

I'm listening to Car Button Cloth at the moment.

One of the most underrated albums ever. People refer to it negatively now ("around Car Button Cloth, when he was best known for ligging with Oasis blah blah" - that sort of thing) but it got a host of really positive reviews at the time.

No Newcastle date? Evan, you cunt.

The UK tour has an additional date...

"steel-wheels is delighted to announce that legendary 90s band THE LEMONHEADS will be launching their forthcoming National tour with a show in Newcastle upon Tyne on Tuesday October 3rd at The Cluny, a 300 capacity venue in the east of the city.

Mainman Evan Dando is no stranger to the city having played 3 solo shows here since 2003.

Tickets priced at £20 and strictly limited to 2 per person will be available from Wednesday September 6th at 10.00am from Beatdown Records (formerly Steel Wheels) in Newcastle or via www.evandando.co.uk.

The eponymously titled new album is scheduled for UK release on September 25th."

From www.evandando.co.uk.

He even listens to people who call him "cunt". What a guy. ^_^

Absolutely. Very bleak at times, but then there's songs like Outdoor Type with lyrics like "I can't go away with you on a rock climbing weekend. What if somethings on TV and it's never shown again. It's just as well I'm not invited, I'm afraid of heights. I lied about being the outdoor type".

This thread made me go back and listen to Baby I'm Bored as well. Great album too, even though my two favourite songs on it was made by, ahem, Ben Lee.

Must confess that I still haven't bought 'Hate your friends', but will try and track it down if only to complete my collection.

Luckily, it seems that half of the Descendents were around at the time, this time.

The fucking Descendents!

Go Evan!

The gig on Saturday was great. It was in the smaller of the two rooms but this meant that it was packed which always helps to produce a good atmosphere. The band sounded great and they played a mixture of old and new with a fair few off every album from "Ray" onwards and even some from the early albums. About two thirds off the way through the rest of the band left the stage leaving us with just Evan and his acoustic guitar for twenty minutes or so, resulting in a mass singalong to the likes of outdoor type and Into Your Arms. I would urge everyone to see them on this tour.

Went to see these (well Evan Dando +2) at Leeds University last night, on the 30th anniversary of Shame about Ray tour. Started off quite low-key with Dando by himself on acoustic, who'd just appeared on stage very casually, checking his guitar setup, I thought he was a roadie at first!

Just him and his acoustic sounded really good, he's still got such a great voice, very folky and verging into Country territory occasionally, and reminded me of Bob Dylan on a couple of tracks. Sounded great when the band joined him and he switched to electric too.

About 3/4 of the way through the set though he seemed to get really pissed off with a group near the front, ended up finishing his song and then leaving the stage and not coming back on, so they didn't play Mrs Robinson.

I've waited 30 years to see them perform that song! :(

I went to see the gig a few weeks ago in Belfast, they didn't play Mrs Robinson thankfully.  Its cheesy as hell.  The gig was fantastic - the band battered through Ray so quickly, it was pretty punky.  Crowd loved it.
