Braff to quit 'Scrubs' to make movies

Tuesday, August 22 2006, 09:57 BST - by David Cribb

Zach Braff has admitted he will quit Scrubs at the end of the current series.

The actor, who plays John 'JD' Dorian in the comedy wants to concentrate on his movie career, following the success of his film Garden State.

He told Premiere magazine: "My guess is that this will be my last season (on Scrubs). Whether or not they continue without me, I don't know. I have had this amazing run on the show and I love it and I'm so grateful, but I want to make movies full time."

Can it really continue without him? I'd say put it to bed.

:lol::) :) :( :( :(

That said, Sarah Chalke wanted to do less work on the show, but ended up carrying on as before, so maybe he will change his mind too.

I certainly don't think it should carry on if he does leave. Given how the show revolves around his character primarily, and the stage at which the characters are at career wise, it would make sense to stop.

oh, series 4 dvds are out next month :(

Scrubs was his acting debut (mainstream at least), and the only other role of his I know of is The Garden State (which I really should have seen by now).

He did the voice of Chicken Little too. Was cute. Plus he was damn funny as the director of the porn series 'Girls With Low Self Esteem' in Arrested Development.

No way can it continue without Braff, cox/kelso/Jordan/ted aside all the characters are pretty much defined by how they interact with JD.

Scrubs was the new Ally McBeal without the whole getting too complicated and boring... It'll be a shame to see it go but I can imagine it wouldn't be too long until it got to the boring stage so at least this way it'll leave on a high (kind of).

I thought Ally McBeal was about promoting an unrealistic image of women and proclaiming it as a new model for empowered women in the high-flying workplace even though Ally was still dominated by every male character?

Good. Kill it. Get JD and Elliot together and end it.

It's getting far too OTT now, with things that where once reserved for fantasies constantly spilling out into the "real world" part of Scrubs, it just kind if ruins it when the realism goes out the window as it takes the humanity of the characters with it.

Like Friends, JD, Turk and Cox et al are just becoming vessels for jokes and punchlines rather than interesting and heartfelt storylines. How am I supposed to care about Ross and Rachel, or in this case Turk and Carla, if they don't act like human beings anymore?

Let it die.

Speaking of Spin City carrying on after J Fox, guess what the creator went on to make after Spin City.........

yep: Scrubs.

Sad news.

It would have to stop if he leaves really. The show pretty much revolves around him i would say. Just wouldnt be the same without him.

The show owuld certainly be going out at the top though so that would be something, well presuming S6 is as good as the others.

To give folks a heads up as well Scrubs season 4 is only £16 at cdwow.

The Office is one of the best shows ever. It's already pretty much been confirmed that if you don't find it funny then you're a bit of an idiot.

if i wanted to laugh at a socially inept moron im quite sure i could find one among the many morons i have met in the course of my life. i dont find awkward (sp?), cringey embarassing scenes funny, so the office is completely redundant for me.

i also have no time for little britain or anything involving peter kay if you'd like to call me an idiot for that too

Not really. Don't tar me with that brush. I just actually don't understand how people can not find The Office brilliant. And it does have pretty much the most amazing critical acclaim of anything, ever. I just think that you obviously don't "get" it or something, and for that I pity you.
