Lost your old 8bit tapes?

I think some folk have developed an interface for the Speccy to allow it to read games from SD cards. Could probably get the majority of all Spectrum games on an 8Gb card (in TZX format).

There's three different projects giving the C64 access to MMC/SD memory cards, MMC64 is out there now.

There is a guy in Poland that is pretty active with these sort of things, including an IDE and floppy adapter.

Come to think of it Poland seems to have a few guys in to the retro stuff as I have seen a few ST add ons being built from there.

If I can find a link I will post it here (unless someone beats be to it).

That's Jurek, I bought one of his +D FDD adapters. Wonderfull!

He sells a fair bit through Ebay, search for +D, he also makes up scart cables for almost any console/8bit computer.

The +D kit can also be bought from some guys in the UK rwapsoftware.co.uk Slightly more expensive but less of a wait time for postage from Poland (mine took 5 weeks!)

I tried this with my iPod and my Speccy a few months ago. I generated the WAV but the Speccy wouldn't recognise it. I think the output might be too quiet or something. I remember back in the day some tape recorders were useless for Spectrums. There's a program for iPodLinux that will generate the sound on the fly from the actual tape files though so you could get them all on the iPod without wasting diskspace. My firewire card is playing up at the moment though so I haven't been able to try it.

CF cards, yes. Don't know about SD. CF is almost IDE compatible, so they use an IDE adapter and a patched in ROM.

Or something.

I got the iPodLinux thing working with their latest installer. What every arsehole who's written about it so far has neglected to mention is that tzx playback only works on the original podzilla, *not* podzilla2 which will be installed by default. I hope this saves someone the hours and hours I wasted trying to find information about it.

In other news I have discovered that since putting iPodLinux on my iPod, my Universal Dock no longer works. I've now got to wipe the whole thing and resync it. Great, except I don't use iTunes (hate it), so that will be fun.
