Why I hate Cross Realms Battlegrounds

I think XRealm has to be seen as a success - you can now get into a BG pretty-much straightaway (at least Horde side).

Hell I'm even considering getting some rep onto my alts - an idea which filled me with TERROR before :)

The fact that the people IN the BG may have NO IDEA what they're doing - is hardly the fault of the developers is it? ;)

I havent been in one AV since the patch were the horde and alliance didnt ride past each other in the middle, ignoring snowfall completely, and rush to each other General.

Their over in 30 mins.

Cant say i dont like it, more rep and honour..... but less fun

Precisely, the problem is that the horde base allows for this much more easily than the Alliance one as far as I can see. I watch alliance players ride past most of the NPC's and guards via jumping walls and their placements. While we're slowed down as soon as we hit the Alliance base.

I don't know what others think, but I've only been in one where the Horde won, and that was purely because we managed some semblance of a defence, where there's no defence, alliance wins everytime in the games I've played...

Played AV quite a bit over the last two days and the rush the final GY tactic really is all the rage! A real all or nothing gambit.

Luckily I got my final frost wolf rep points in a good old fanishioned steady push with the Ice Lord smacking the shite out of Nelfs. Some of the raid were shouting at us to let them through, but for once the other side wanted a fight after we cut off the head of their early push.

  • 1 month later...

I've had a lot of fun recently PvPing - AV still drives me nuts, but with AB and WSG we often get some guildies together. Sometimes only five of us but five people all saying the same thing usually gets the rest going. Even in AV - about 8 of us joined an AV and it was the smoothest AV I've had.

So we get together on TS and have a laugh and *communicate*... had some awesome victories, a couple of honourable losses too, mind...

But if you can play with some friends, it's 1000000% better

Back when I was levelling I PvPd in a semi-set team, just a bunch of us who enjoyed playing together. Never used TS/Vent for it we just used raid chat and all knew the score, really. "It's Us Again" were the main guild if anyone remembers, and I was an honourary tag-along :P

Is it bollocks, it takes maybe two weeks tops.

For AB?

I wish.

Edit - Unless you mean Revered > Exalted, in which case I guess two weeks sounds about right if you do it for about 6 hours a night, every night. : /

55 more wins for me to hit Exalted! \o/

I want to cry! I can't take it anymore! I have 29,000 rep to go. I've only got 11,000 so far. I think the maths are right, anyway.

Everyone runs off to attack.

Two defend Iceblood. It's run over in seconds.

Four/five make it to Frostwolf GY, we hold it for a little while, until their zerg.

They completely demolish the Relief Hut, and eventually people come back to defend.

So what did the 30+ attackers achieve? SOD ALL. They got the Stonehearth GY then promptly lost it again. That was it. They didn't do anything else, save call me whiney for begging people to defend.

/cry

And the alliance attackers were probably calling the people who retook SH fucking noobs.

See, you need to defend Frostwolf with Nai and I around. It's like Frostwolf Keep is the Control Room, the Alliance are the Covenant and we're a couple of badass frickin' Spartans laying waste to all that gets in our way.

Well, having a better time of it now. I've reasoned that AV in the daytime is full of kids who haven't got a clue, but start grinding after midnight and things are a lot more organised and enjoyable.

Last night I teamed up with a warrior and another druid and a rogue, between the four of us we were doing very well. Warrior 'charging' (more like steadily moving forward) in and attracting their attention whilst me and the other druid hid behind trees to heal him, protected by the rogue who picked off those who were onto us.

Of course, we only actually won one last night, but the other two were very close! And now I'm 10000/12000 honoured with AV. So that's 23,000 to go! It's getting near...

That's so true for AB as well in Ravenholdt's battle group. I tried to get some honor during the day on Saturday before I turned 50 and I think I lost 4-5 games in a row which never happens in the evening.

Anyways Chamani made her first AV last night, helped defend FW for over an hour with 8-10 others including AV noob Zurg (also level 51). I stood at the back and spammed heal much to the shock of some of the others, although I did mind flay any alliance that tried to kite the NPC's away from the flag. ^_^ Eventually the guys up top got their game together and we won, neutral -> friendly in one AV lovely stuff.

And then in the next game I ressed bugged and after trying several different GY's had to /afk, bugger.

Edit: I couldn't seem to "Join as group" on AV last night, am I missing something?

Didn't think you could join as a group anymore in AV?

Also, this was one game I was in yesterday and wrote on another board:

Classic game yesterday:

- We come out and do the SF offence (I've never seen it work).

- We manage to grab SH as well, then burn all the outposts and Balinda.

-Summon Lhok and push to Stormpike (still owning all the map).

- Grab SP and hold it till it turns then push AS.

- Tap AS and I'm the only one left guarding SP.

- Ninja Ally squads grab ALL the GY's behind us (including FW and RH!). I fail to defend SP on my own against about 20 allies (/sarcasm off) and we all spawn in the FREAKING TUNNEL!

- Cure shouts of "Grab SP back" to which I replied "Fuck you you fucking retards I've respawned in the tunnel because you fucked up the offence even though I was shouting "SP/GUARD SP/ ABOUT TO LOSE SP/ SP LOST!"".

- Lost about 15 minutes after that...

WORST LOSS EVER

I've not been in a winning game in about 3 weeks...

Willance and I went to Arathi to unwind after the smacking and Legend of the Overfiend style violating C'Thun's extremities gave us last night. We won the first one, lost the second quite badly and by the end of it were desperate just to kill the MOST ANNOYING ROGUE IN THE WORLD EVER. I salute the bastard, he had about 2/3s more kills than anyone else and the best stun lock I've ever had the misfortune to encounter, to the point where all we wanted to do in the last few minutes was seek him out and turn him into mulch.

Frickin' rogues.

Hoorah! At last, a fine example of the Horde absolutely pwning.

I joined an AV mid-battle yesterday afternoon *cough* whilst still at work. My friend went the feral druid route and I went healbot, and we made our way to Iceblood just in the nick of time it felt like. I started healing people up who were about to die and he started charging into anything that moved. One guy, obviously died in the first wave or so, said "IB is lost" to which I replied, "Err, no it isn't?" He said "Well, IB is by some miracle still standing, then".

We kept pushing them back, they really weren't making it through, and eventually they formed what seemed like a 35 man defence in their base. We headed north to try and help out, when the cries for "No one's healing - 10 points to <name> who is the only one bothering." I said "I'm on my way, ready to healspam!" and I received a reply like "Don't be so up yourself, Kaywinnit" - charming. Healers CANNOT win in Battlegrounds.

A few of us headed into Vanndar's room. It was messy. The messiest I've seen. Whilst our guys were holding off the Alliance outside we were working him down (tanks kept switching aggro though, bleh! :)) and finally spammed him down.. it was ace!

I started playing AV at the weekend on my Undead priest on Ravenholt. I don't know if Horde have cleaned up thier act or it's just different in my group but I easily win 50% of the games in there. Honoured already.

The tactic that seems to work is 10 in defence and send the rest to attack, 10 people can hold up the alliance a surprisingly long time at the Horde keep.
