Why I hate Cross Realms Battlegrounds

I think the problem is exacerbated as less people are running for honour (who tend to at least be marginally intelligent in terms of tactics) so you only get total douche bags who are after the free epics and:

a) Have no understanding of how to win AV, for example:

- I witnessed someone arguing that we had to follow "Peeling the Onion" as Blizzard knew more than the players about how to win and the Alliance follwed it and that's why they won! All efforts to point out that it basically talked about a totally different AV, and that it was pretty much useless against the tactics used now fell on deaf ears

B ) NEVER EVER listen or communicate.

c) Appear to have ADD. The number of times I'm the ONLY person defending a flag we've just captured is just mind boggling. No one seems to understand that you'll get the rep wherever you're standing in AV.

I also suspect they've lumped ER in with all the servers put aside for the "special" people, and I don't mean the good kind of "special"....

Pretty sure that's incorrect. You don't get the rep from killing Alliance if you aren't within range. I get the vast majority of my rep just lurking in the main zerg from this.

Only true for the rep from killing Players (added in 1.12?), which is +1 I believe if you are in range. All other rep is shared between the raid as I understand it.

I don't know if the rep for the +1 is capped like honour though?

And also, in most games I've been in, a competent defense generally gets just as many kills (and probably more honour)

Yeah, achievement rep is shared, but I normally find kill rep is much quicker, you can get a good 1000 per game just by sticking to the busy bits.

Aaaaah, so the next time i come across a stealthed rogue in a tree i won`t panic as i`ll sit safe in the knowledge that he`s watching Hollyoaks/Eating Chicken/Playign Xbox360 whilst quietly leeching honour :D

Depressingly, the "Zerg Drek'Thar" tactic is all I've seen since I started doing AV. It's usually down to about 10 people to try and stop 30 Hordies storming Dun Baldar, all while having "LOL NUB @ DB, ALL IN" yelled at us. Almost makes me want to run down there and loot Drek'Thar's wolves just to spite them.

The couple of games I've done this week have both been "10 defend, rest attack" tactics - and the Alliance seem to be rushing hard the other way. Granted, those of us who stay on defence don't get yelled at to go anywhere else, but it's all about who gets to the end first and with sufficient numbers to stay there really.

It never used to be as cold and clinical as this - if only I'd put the extra RAM in my system a year ago, when tactics actually had some bearing on the outcome.

The horde seem to run out of steam after they've grabbed SH, it's pretty easy to hold them back on the road to SP, and if they do grab SP, it's easy enough to drop into the graveyard and hold them up while they kill you. I even sap people who've just respawned, and end up with 5 of them chasing me around. Then they've got the choke point of the bridge, where they can get aoe'd to bits, then they've got all the npc's to fight if they get into the alliance base. I don't think that the layout is particularly fair, but there are always better ways to do things. I've not lost a game of AV in a month, and whatever tactics are being used hordside, they don't work.

My advice would be to have more people at IB, I've played games where we've not managed to get IB straight away, and had the GY behind us taken out as well, and the attack completely stops. The last time this happened, I was in for three hours, and it was a very close fight by the end. Much more fun than zerging to drek in half an hour.

Overwhelmingly I'd say the problem in our battlegroup is the offence. We can now usually put up a reasonably competent defence, but the offence is utterly woeful. Never guarding graveyards, ESPECIALLY SP, I don't understand how people can not realise that as soon as the Aid Station is tagged the alliance defence will drop down on SP, but I can't count the number of games where they've been pushed all the way back to the cave because they've let SH be grabbed so they only hold SP, then tap the AS but let the alliance grab SP so they spawn back at the bottom of the map.

I definately believe the Horde have to fight alot more NPcs to get to Vanndaar than Alliance do to get to Drek. Perhaps that's just me being biased but it seems that way to me.

Most of the games I've been in since AV weekend started the Horde haven't tried to win and make no apologies for it. I have had 17 minute games where I got 4500 bonus honour, 1k+ rep and a medal for losing :) With instant queues if you can get 2-3 of those an hour it makes a mockery of winning for a lot of people. They just try to cap as many points and kill as many captains as possible.

The defending thing is an issue in all BGs. I even have a macro for "/bg Someone defend the farm ffs!" now.

The ridiculous thing, coming from Horde side, is that sometimes if you, God forbid, have more than ten defending Iceblood you will get shouts FFS MORE ATTACK!!! (Even though Alliance have about 25-30 in their attack force) Or you'll be told how the game is lost because they aren't able to sapture SH or SP or something. A lot of Horde are completely impatient and decide it's lost if we aren't at Aid Station in 10 minutes.

I even had the pleasure of meeting a guy called Moopeli, who on one game declared that the "only tactic that ever works is zerging the Aid Station" and that we'd lost since we were defending FW GY. We pushed them out, and won the game, the way it is meant to be. He was in the next BG - I asked him if he believed that defending can actually work and he said that "that silly defending tactics only worked once!"

Very glad I have my puppy now..
