christaylor
Picked this up this afternoon from Blockbuster, enjoying it so far, but... the bikes! What a total headfuck. Anyone got any tips for riding them properly? What's the best camera view for them? Also, anyone got any idea why you can view a full 360 degrees in some vehicles but only left/right/front/back in others?
Dr Seedyman
it's DLC, or is that the M3 E30 DTM? It is DLC. 400 MS points for a really decent pack with some awesome cars and bikes, Like The Ferarri F430 Scuderia and the Yamaha R1. And a whole bunch of new challenges and achievements. Get it. Rossco
Oh cool didn't realise there was more game stuff with it too!! Like achievements and challenges, thats cool. I haven't even tried bikes in this game yet, not much of a fan of bike games.
bigbrick
the bikes aren't much fun, imo. far too twitchy, yet hardly any turn in when you actually want it. i usually use the bumper cam on cars, with nothing in the way of my view except the rev counter and speedo, but with bikes i use the farthest chase cam. Yeah, I tried again this morning, and the chase cam is far better for the bikes (though I use the nearest one).

Timmo
Ok I've started the career on Normal and I'm winning every race easily. Is it worth knocking the difficulty up or does it get harder?
BeeJay
Ok I've started the career on Normal and I'm winning every race easily. Is it worth knocking the difficulty up or does it get harder? Knock it up one at least. The increase in difficulty is quite large though so you can easily drop from easily winning to failing.
Rowan Morrison
http://www.pgr4.co.uk/2008/08/09/buy-an-achievement/[edit] FFS! one of the achievements REQUIRES you to purchase the DLC? fuck that shit! The linked page makes it clear at the very start - points it out, in fact - that you buy the achievement with the in-game kudos. Maybe the link has been changed since you viewed it, but I bought the game on Saturday and worked that one out from the achievements page. You save a million kudos and you spend it on the gamer picture, just as you'd spend a smaller amount on a new car. Anyway, yeah, I picked it up from Blockbuster and it's definitely a tenner well-spent. Voting for photos is a great idea, and the gameplay is PGR - can't go wrong. The bikes will take a while to adjust to, but I remember that being everyone's comment at launch.

BeeJay
There's only normal and expert. I'm not winning by masses. Hmm... Is there? The campaign doesn't follow the normal bronze, silver, gold, platinum scheme then? It's been a while. I remember dropping the difficulty down from the top on the campaign towards the end as it was draging a bit.
Timmo
Yeah it's different, just three settings. My main bugbear with PGR2 was that my skills fell almost directly between Silver and Gold. At the end, Gold was too hard for me to be bothered with and Silver too easy. I'm probably better at games now though so I'll stick with Gold I reckon for Arcade. Impressed at the fact it has two different modes though. It seems as though it's twice the size of PGR2.
Fletch
That was one of the things that bugged me about that arcade levels, in that you had to choose your difficulty before, rather than having different times for the difficulty, I didn't want to be replaying the events over and over. Rowan Morrison
I withdraw my question [unwraps chocolate bar]. It's a good job I didn't post a scathing response like some people might have. It's not my fault you make confusing Frankenstein posts. The sun was in my eyes. I'm going back to the Edge forums.

Wilbo
I purchased this yesterday from Blockbuster for £9.99. I started with the Arcade mode, using the Sierra and the holy 'grale. The cars feel a bit 'dead' - they don't react in comparison to similar cars on Forza. They don't get upset easily and there's not enough rumble, so I don't feel very involved. Then I tried the Subaru Impreza 22b snow drift challenge, which was a step in the right direction. This was followed by a fast lap of the snow-covered Nurburgring, at dawn, in the 1950s Formula One car. How good was this challenge? The car moves around, the track is beautiful (and blinding in places, like a real drive at dawn on a wet road) - it was just brilliant. I now think it's a damn good game - the brilliant weather system and excellent in-car views really differentiate it to Forza, though generally I feel the cars could feel more 'alive'. There's a good choice of cars in this game, too. The early F1 cars, Caterham and Sierra are excellent contributions to the genre.

By men do you mean the ones with the inteligence to play the game how it was designed to be played.
Rossco
Yeh this game doesn't work with the wheel. I've tried it a few times now and it's definitely more suited to the pad. Forza is the game for the wheel.
Boozy The Clown
By men do you mean the ones with the inteligence to play the game how it was designed to be played. Maybe if you want to be the fastest guy in the world and you take your racing as seriously as you can, the wheel isn't the best option but it does work with the game to the degree that you can get enjoyment out of it. It may not be 100% realistic or even close but to say it doesn't work is a fallacy and quite frankly just a wee bit snobbish. I had a wheel and I played PGR4 with it. With the right car and the right track it can be a lot of fun.
bigbrick
in this case though, it's more "sort the men from the ones who spent more money to go slower".

With the right car and the right track it can be a lot of fun. My comment was in response to a snobbish comment about wheel vs. pad. The wheel works fine on PGR4 and I haven't said any different. It's just not how the game was designed to be played and so suffers for it. Forza 2 was obviously better optimised for the wheel and gets as close as I've ever seen good implementation on a console. In comparison to PC games where going from a pad to a wheel is a massive jump in quality. Going from a 360 pad to a wheel on something like a GTR on PC is as big a jump in enjoyment and experience as going from keyboard to pad. On 360 the jump just isn't the same. It's nothing to do with speed really, PGR just plays better on a pad. It's more fun on a pad.

Boozy The Clown
Err aye well peace & goodwill etc.... I was simply trying to point out that if someone is enjoying it with the wheel, good on them. My snob comment was aimed at the idea that because Forza works better with the wheel, then PGR is disregarded as being unplayable which simply isn't true, its just not as good. And Sid you're not who I was calling a Snob but apparently you are a rich idiot . Is that the same thing ? Anyway in future can you post your times in The Online Folder's PGR4 Time Attack Thread Cheers.
